He wondered what else he could say to her, how he should make her feel better.

I nodded my head as the first real smile in what seemed like a long time came to my lips. "Yeah, I'd like that." I said, feeling slightly relieved. At least Dan wasn't thinking I was crazy.

Dan grinned, happy- at least, happier- that she was smiling. He was about to say more, when the teacher walked in and he had to push his chair back in.

And, despite the fact that yet another monotonous day of school had began, Dan couldn't wait until the end of the day, so was pretty pumped.

After school, I felt much better then that morning. Dan had eased my worries, somewhat. If the news 'people' already knew about the dragon, there was no need for me to have to tell them too. I smiled in relief, even though the thought was still frightening, before grabbing my things and walking outside in search for Dan.

Dan was leaning against the wall outside the school gates, his head leaning back against it and his eyes closed.
It was going to rain again today, he could sense it in the air.
While he was stood there, he wondered what he would do if Paradise ever found out what he was. His previous rule that had helped him survive was if anyone found out, leave. He was surprised at himself for even still being there, since everyone had more or less discovered that there was a huge monster in the town.
That thought was confirmed at the conversations of the people around him; quite a few of them were people laughing at the 'dragon bird', and there were one or two that seemed to take it seriously.

I smiled as I saw Dan, and walked up to him.

At least I could control myself, today. I wasn't melting - as much - at just looking at him. Maybe it was the shirt he was wearing. I wasn't a big fan of it.
"Ready?"
I asked before starting to walk in his direction.

He started walking in the direction of his house, keeping his eyes up on the skies to watch a small flock of dark brown birds.
He walked slowly, his thoughts on things besides the birds above him. Had he done something he wouldn't be able to undo? He'd upset Paradise, probably scared her... What was he supposed to do to reverse that?

Dan sighed, shaking his head. Closing the door, he walked through to the living room and up into his room, pulling out another shirt from one of his drawers.
Walking back down the ladder, he pulled the one he was wearing off over his head, holding it in one hand and opening up the new one to show her.
''What about this one?'' He asked, tilting his head slightly to the side.

I sat down on the living room couch as Dan disappeared out of the room. When he came back, I couldn't help but gulp. Why'd he have to make this so hard for me to act normal around him, when all I wanted to do was rewind and watch him slip off his shirt again?
I blinked and nodded my head, finding myself blush.
"Uh... Yeah. Uh... That's... You know... Perfect..."
I said the last word looking back up at him, feeling my heart stop.
