"Aah. You have good scenes, my boy." I said. "I am here, but not as you see me. The person you see is a Thark; a carrier, as some might call it. The one you see is a body. Her name is Jazz. She shares all my emotions and thoughts, just as I hers. I, my boy, am more of a soul than a person." I told him, trying to explain. "Do you hear me, my boy?" I asked him, not knowing if he understood what I was.

I looked up at the sky. It was almost morning. I pulled the demon's horse to a stop and felt Flash stop behind me. "We should rest. No doubt it has been a long and hard day for you and your sister." I said, sliding off the horse. "Come, I shall make a camp." I said, reaching my hand out to the demon. I felt Flash stomp a little. I smiled as the huge horse neighed. He was over one and a half times the size of me, and he was one of a kind. No horse was that big. Non other than mine. "It's okay, Flash. You knew her. We can trust her judgment." I whispered to Flash so quietly non but his ears could hear me.

He got off the horse, still careful not to wake his sister. He held her close to him. "As you wish." Was all he said as he went and sat down under a tree, his sister resting in his lap.

I worked quickly and quietly, bringing branches of dead trees and tying them together to make a lean-to. "Come now; it shall rain soon." I told him, picking up his sister careful not to wake her. I walked a few feet and placed her in a small nest like bed I had made. Just then I felt a droplet of water fall on my face. "Quickly! You do not know what this rain brings to your kind." I said, running over to the demon's horse and guiding him under a thick tree that would block out the rain.

"I will stay outside, thank you." He said staying where he was sitting. He had always enjoyed the rain no matter what form it took.

"You don't understand, son. This rain will kill your kind. That is why no demon other than you and your sister are here. And why your Mother is the only demon to travel here." I told him, grabbing his arm hastily and pulling him into the small shelter. "Besides. your sister will need your warmth. Stay with her." I commanded him with such authority even Flash - one who takes no command - stood at an attention of sorts. With that I grabbed my bow and arrows, slung them over my shoulder, and took off into the forest in search of a food source. I knew that after a day or more of journey, they would be hungry.

He sighed and grabbed some wood and started a good sized fire by his sister so she would be warm. He then stepped back outside, totally unaffected by the rain, minus the fact that now he had an ever so feint smell of wet dog hanging around him. He smiled up at the rain, his good eye closed, the hood of his cloak falling back to rest against his back.

I felt my bow bounce on my shoulder slightly as I drug the deer back to the camp. I caught sight of the Demon in the rain, his hood back. I let out a growl and dropped the deer. "I leave you for five minutes and you are already causing yourself and your sister trouble!" I muttered to myself, walking over to the demon. I grabbed his arm and held it up to his face so he could see. Blood flowed down his arm and onto the ground. "I told you to stay in the shelter!" I told him, dropping his arm forcefully.

He looked at her, a small smile on his lips. "It's alright, and besides, that's not my blood." He chuckled looking at the blood that coated his arm and hand, slowly washing away in the rain. He looked back up at the sky, the small smile still there, his good eye closing. "The rain is so peaceful...So purifying. It washes away the unclean things in this world. Cleanses the mind and soul." He said in almost a whisper.

My eyes closed for a fraction of a second, and a shock went through my body. The Queen had just given me, Jazz, control. With out thinking, I growled something impolite at him in my elvish tongue. "Just help me get this deer cleaned and cooked?" I hissed at him, my patience gone with him. He was in the Queen's -or should I say my- territory, and he wasn't doing a very good job of obeying me. I walked over to the deer, picking it up and dragging it over to the fire. I set my bow down, along with my arrows. I smiled, thinking about the one thing I had made a condition to "host" the queen; I got to hunt. My hand slip down to my side, pulling out a knife from a sheath. "A little help?" I said, trying to get him under cover and out of the rain.

He looked at her then walked over, pulling out his own knife. He then shooed her away and soon had the deer both skinned and cleaned. He commenced to cut the deer up in a way that was both efficient and wouldn't take that long to cook. He gave the elf the meat, but some he kept for himself and began eating, not bothering to cook the meat. Demons in general had to cook the meat like everyone else, but since he was a wolf demon he did not need to bother.

I took the meat and walked over to Flash. I pulled out a
metal sheet from a bag and placed the meat on it. I walked back over to the
fire and held it over the fire. This usually took about twenty minutes, but I
tried to hasten it by adding some more wood to make the fire hotter. After a
little I pulled the meat away and picked at it, the heat not bothering me. I
got up and walked over to Flash. “Go on, boy.” I whispered to him. He walked a
little, finding a place with some green grass to eat. I watched him for a
while, nibbling on a piece of meat. “We should wake your sister and feed her.”
I told the demon.

"She won't eat...or should I say she can't eat." He said looking up from his food, his voice seeming to be both sad and distant. "The only thing she can seem to stomach is broth." He got up and fed his horse the rest of the raw meat, that was his portion, then walked back out into the rain. His thoughts were everywhere now. -Can I even trust this lady? Will my sister make it? What am I supposed to do?...-

My eyes widened for a moment. I raced over to Flash and pulled out some leaves that were in a bag. "Wake her." I said, sliding down to the fire. "Aqua, boy." I told Flash, who came to my side. I pulled made a small bucket out of bark and vines, then gave it to Flash. He took off, heading for a lake I knew must be near by. He came back a few minutes later, and I placed the bucket full of water over the fire, waiting for it to boil.

"I'm making something. It will help settle her stomach. For a little, that is." I told him. I saw bubbles rise to the top of the water, and so I took it off of the fire. I took the leaves and crushed them, making a sort of gew. I dumped it into the water and let it sit. "Wake her." I told him once more.

He sighed and gave a small nod, before walking back into the shelter and over to his sister. He gently touched her and she woke. "What is it, big brother? Where are we?" She looked around confused then saw the elf. "She's pretty, big brother...is she your girlfriend?" She said everything in a voice that was barely audible.
He shook his head trying not to laugh at the last bit she had said. "No, it's nothing like that. She is going to help you be able to eat a little something. Also she is taking us somewhere safe." He smiled at her and gently ruffled her hair. She giggled in response, but said nothing more. He then sat down next to her, holding her close.

Finally! Out of the acid rain. I thought. I had heard his sister's comment, but I payed it no attention. A minute passed before I was done mixing the leaves in. I stood up and walked over to he little girl. Unsure if I should have him do it or if I should do it myself, I bent down. I gave the demon a checking glance, as if asking if he wanted to make her drink it. "I won't taste good. What little something in there," I said, poking the girl's stomach playfully, "might come out." I finished.
