"First of all, there are going to be some MAJOR changes in the rules here. I will tell you all of these rules today, and I expect you to follow them. So...the first rule. No one will disrespect me, Voltress, Rygo, or Adder. I am the Alpha, and the three of them are Elites. I realize that none of you know what an Elite is. An Elite is a wolf in charge of guarding the Alpha. They'll be treated extremely well, their food will even be hunted for them. They are the highest rank below an Alpha. You're probably wondering; 'what abut the Beta'? Well, there is no longer a Beta. Just Elites. Then the Healer, then the rest of you. Before I continue...I'll just tell you that it would be wise to become an Elite...so if anyone would like to become an Elite, speak now."

(I HATE RES. IT ATE MY POST. AND IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL AND LONG AND AWESOME AND IT WASN'T EVEN DONE.... GIVE ME A SEC. I WILL TRY TO MAKE IT BEAUTIFUL ONCE MORE. I'LL EDIT IN A WHILE WHEN I CAN GATHER MYSELF) EDIT: Sierra was very uneasy about this announcement. Her mind wandered off to the worst possibilities. Major changes... What could this mean?! Then the first rule came along. Well that was blatantly obvious. Of course the pack would have to listen to the Alpha, though these new 'Elites' were simply bothersome to Sierra. And what's this about no Beta? Betas are a necessity to a pack! A wolf can't just come along and change all the rules of a wolf pack. It's... abnormal. Hm, now that she thought about it, these 'Elites' were sort of like multiple Betas. Simply ludicrous if one thought about it. They were seemingly stuck-up and snobby and Sierra would much rather opt out of becoming one of them. Nothing good could possibly come out of being an 'Elite'. They were already becoming bothersome and annoying to Sierra. She would much rather be rid of them. Who needed 'Elites' in a pack? Sierra held her head and was prepared to dig her claws into the ground to maintain her position as a simple pack member. Being an 'Elite' would be worse, to her, than simply even being in their presence. The wolf just continued to listen and awaited Covalt's next little rule. --- Kiyiya was unimpressed and a bit baffled. Elites? Why would a pack even need those? He considered the idea of joining them, but thought otherwise almost immediately. He didn't need teammates to do teamwork with. That's what the Elites were like in his mind - a team. And then they were paired up with the Alpha who was a coach. Kiy was never one to be a part of a team. Solitary was much more of his thing. He didn't do 'teamwork' well. If someone could fight of a rogue with multiple wolves, why couldn't he do it himself? He'd have much more peace of mind to know that he's by himself and surrounded by nature and calmness, not annoying and bumbling wolves. And he could get the job done. If it didn't involve others - Kiyiya wasn't really good with many other wolves - he might've pondered the idea more. However this was simply not his calling and he would much prefer to stay in his own spot for the reasons mentioned before. He laid down in the camp and yawned, bored with this pause. Couldn't Covalt continue his speech already? Intermissions are so boring. --- Narrowing his eyes, Karuna didn't like the vibe Covalt and his Elites were giving off, and the beginning of his speech hinted everything. The Alpha seemed to be a mixture of evil and excitement. Excitement because he was making, as he said, major changes. Kuna didn't like the sound of this one bit. It meant bad things were coming his way. He didn't need any obstacle to deal with, it just made life harder. And no wolf needed a hard life. No Beta? The current male and female must be feeling awful now. And his voicing of 'rules' plainly laid out his plan before the silvery-gray wolf's eyes. He was starting with a simple and rather obvious rule - respect the Alpha and these stupid new Elites. Respecting the Alpha? That's regular pack life. Elites? Not favorable, but they could be livable. If that was the only thing. Rather, it seemed they had more coming. Covalt saying that becoming an Elite would help in the long run gave an eerie proposition of what might happen in the future. Kuna, however, knew better than to volunteer. Being buddy-buddy with the Alpha and his so-called Elites was not something favorable to Karuna's tastes, especially because he disliked the Alpha. He didn't want to get closer to the wolf, and right after he deliberately wanted to kill Kuna right in front of the pack over a simple matter - if he had only stated that what he did was wrong, nothing would have happened. But Covalt was stubborn. Anyways, starting with a livable rule aided Covalt in the oncoming list of rules that would get consistently worse and more harsh, Karuna was sure of that. And he wasn't content with this at all. Too bad his oblivious packmates couldn't see this onslaught - not until it was too late anyways. --- Alesa's head was in a mixed state. She wasn't sure what to make of what Covalt was saying. Elites? Hmmmm.... maybe that was something Alesa would like to join. After all, he did say it would help, so why not? Being an Elite would be like being a Beta. If she could get closer to Covalt, maybe he wouldn't give her a hard time as he did with Karuna. But then again... What would Avadare think? The black she-wolf turned around to speak to her friend, but found emptiness in its spot. She frantically looked around. WHERE WAS AVA? Oh well... maybe Aketa could tell her the answer? And then she didn't see Aketa anywhere - wait. What's that familiar patch of fur? AKETA! But what was he doing in the... medicine den?! Alesa didn't know what was going on until she spotted Ava's mauled body beside her brother's. This was horrid. Though she was terrified to go over in case Covalt would scold her. Alesa wasn't particularly stable on her decision of possibly joining the Elites so she didn't speak up. She just missed the presence of her friend.

Idiots, thought Evane as she listened to the announcements. All of them, idiots. Can't they see how terrible this will end? They'll probably all be dead in a matter of time. Evane hated Covalt, but she valued her life. Since she had no way to speak, she stood up and nodded. To her suprise, Covalt saw it.
"Only one?" Covalt asked. "What a shame..." He paused to look down to see if anybody had changed their minds, but saw nothing. He began listing off other rules. (I'm just going to list them off) Hunting patrols go out to hunt and are not allowed to return until they have something to eat.
If a wolf goes missing, no one is to go looking for them.
No one is allowed to leave the camp without permission.
Absolutely no one is allowed to leave the territory.
If loners intrude on the packs territory they are either to join the pack or be killed, not driven out.
Anyone who breaks the rules will be killed. On the spot.
"And there will be more rules." Covalt said. "The Trials will begin in two weeks. You are all dismissed." With that, Covalt and the three Elites he'd brought with him exited the center of the camp.
Evane remained where she was.

"Wait, what are the 'Trials'?" Alesa bravely called out, then immediately regretted it afterwards. What's going to happen now? What if he punishes me? Paranoia began to settle in until the she-wolf calmed herself and took a deep breath. Alesa had guts and lots of the pack knew it. She wasn't a sissy girly-girl wolf and could easily be tough. But these new rules intimidated her and Covalt and his Elites seemed to be the Doom Team to her. They were basically the only things she was scared of now.
--- Kiyiya couldn't leave... without permission?! How was he going to take his nighttime secret outings?! THIS WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE. --- Karuna huffed. Knew it. Told you so. he basically boasted to the pack in his mind. He gave a quick glare to Covalt and his Elites and then stood and walked off, head held high. This was going to be bad. Really, really bad.

Aketa growled. Anyone who disobeys these rules will be killed on the spot...He turned and looked at his sister. Was that what Covalt had been trying to do? It sure looked like it. Whoever had done this to Avadare had surely had no intention of letting her live.
Voltress turned around, hearing Alesa ask about the trials. The dark colored she wolf grinned. "You'll see." She said, her voice barely above a whisper, and then she turned back around and walked away.

(Sure, we'll time skip. It's now two weeks into the future. Avadare is still in the coma. I guess.)
Covalt climbed up onto the boulder. Rygo and Adder followed, taking their places beside him, while Evane and Voltress took their places at the bottom. Covalt howled, which, as usual, was to gather the attention of the pack. "I need all of the members of the pack to gather in the center of camp. I will explain how the Trials are going to work, and what they are.
Aketa sat in the center of the camp.
(Omg...I just realized Aketa is the only character I have who isn't evil or in a coma.)

(Wow... I guess that's true :o Evane is an Elite... Ava is in a coma... Covalt is obviously an evil dictator... o_o On the other hand I don't have a single evil or in-a-coma character. DANG.)
Alesa ran over to Aketa. "Is Ava ok today? Has she woken up?" she asked. Every day it was the same thing - checking up. After Covalt's last big announcement about the rules, she had went into the medicine den and was 'briefed' on what was going on with Avadare. Since Aketa was Ava's brother and Alesa was guessing he kept tabs on her, she asked him the same thing every single day. Today was no different. In addition, she always visited Ava once a day. Or more. She missed her friend a lot... she needed to just wake up already! -- Kiyiya, Sierra, and Karuna sat in the center of camp where the rest of the pack was gathering. [Yeah they get nothing special XP]

"Ava's just as okay as she was yesterday, and no, she hasn't woken up yet." Aketa replied, a hint of annoyance in his voice. He hated it when someone asked him the same questions over and over, especially when he'd answered a thousand times. "I'll let you know when she wakes up, okay?" --- Covalt saw that the pack had gathered, and he began. "Two weeks ago, I told you that today would be the day when the Trials began. None of you have been told what they are, and I have heard a few of you talking about how you thought it would be something that was good for you. For eighty to ninety percent of you, it will not be." He paused. "The Trials are a method that will be used so that only the strongest wolves remain in the pack. Voltress found a valley just outside the territory, where our pack shares a border with the Gangvar Pack (just made this up :P) and the Alpha has agreed to join his pack with ours. However, the Gangvar wolves will still be staying on their side of the territory. The canyon that separates our territory from theirs... " Another pause. "...Will be used as an arena. Every month, four wolves from this pack and four wolves from Gangvar will be taken into the canyon to kill the opposite team. Well...whether you work as a team or not is your choice. But the wolves who go will be selected randomly by me. If you go into the Trials and win..." He paused dramatically to look down at his wolves. "Then you get to live."

(Ok because I want to I'mma a bring an evil snobby wolf into the RP. And another one for a different purpose.
Name: Caymar Age: Young adult Gender: Male Looks: Personality(optional): Snobby. Evil. Annoying. What else is there to say? You'll see how he is... History(optional): ~ Crush: None/Open Other: He's not an Elite. Name: Ayame Age: Young adult Gender: Female Looks: ^^^ And um I have to add that she is considered really pretty and liek hawt in the wolf world. Is that alright? Otherwise I'll make her like normal-hawtness :D Personality(optional): ~ History(optional): ~ Crush: COVALT Other: She's after Covalt's heart and ummm... she's an Elite. But yeah that's about it :P ) Sierra was taken aback in horror. Fighting to the death? Eighty to ninety percent of the pack... dead? This was really bad. Most likely, the white wolf was going to be killed. She wasn't much of a fighter and she hoped that the adrenalin would be enough to survive on at this point. If she was picked to go... That valley would be her deathbed. --- "Oh..." Alesa said dejectedly. "Ok." And then at the announcement of the trials, she was pushed deeper into despair. --- Gangvar Pack, Karuna knew, was never anything that his pack got involved with. Ever. Now they were going to merge with them? Not physically, but still. And then fighting to the death to eliminate weak wolves? That was sick. Simply sick. How much lower could Covalt go? Avadare, as Kuna knew about, was in a coma. No doubt it was because she disobeyed Covalt. The next day he immediately installed rules. It must've been the pack's own Alpha that severely injured his own pack member. Horrific. He's killing off his own pack by these Trials and these stupid rules. A few wolves had already died from these rules already, and with the Trials coming up, it only meant more death and a diminishing pack number. It would leave, according to Covalt, ten to twenty percent of the pack left, and that would be his 'ultimate pack', probably. He really was dumb, wasn't he? --- Caymar smirked. "A Trial once a month?" he called out. "Why not once a day? The elimination process will go faster. Why have weak wolves in or pack? The longer they're a part of the pack, the more of a problem they'll pose if an intruder comes along. They'll probably die as the wimps they are. But if we simply get rid of them faster, then we don't run the risk of a weak pack anymore. Right, Alpha Covalt?" He gave his best superstar wink at the Alpha to hint his great idea.

Covalt turned to Caymar. "Silence." He demanded. "Now, as I said, the trials WILL begin today, and four of you have been selected. If I call your name, you will step forward. Anyone who tries to resist will face a punishment far worse than death. The first name is..." He examined the pack, looking for someone to be chosen. "Kiyiya. Step Forward."

Caymar let out a huff and narrowed his eyes in annoyance. Fine then, don't listen to my AMAZING ideas, Covalt. But I'll talk to you later about it and you'll see my idea is pure genius. He sat down and listened distastefully. --- Kiyiya didn't even seem all impressed on the outide and he took a few pawsteps up towards the boulder. He said nothing. On the inside, though, it was chaotic. His mind was a jumble. He couldn't think straight. Fighting moves and techniques sped through his mind and the thoughts of death and impending doom flashed by, not to mention the fright of the situation and the ponderings of what his opponents might be like - not to mention who his allies might be. Speaking of allies, HE HAD TO WORK ON A TEAM. Kiy, as mentioned before, was not very keen of teams. This was not good.

[I'm posting from a TV. I can't make bios. You know about Coheed already. I'll make a bio tomorrow. But I'm going to start rping him today.] Covalt watched Kiy walk over toe boulder before calling the second name. "Hazana." A reddish-brown and white she-wolf took her place, sitting down beside Kiyiya. She was a small, young wolf, and was already in tears. "Aketa." Covalt barked. Aketa growled. Fine. He knew that in all reality, Avadare was probably going to die. And if Covalt wanted Aketa to go down with her, then fine. At least he'd be able to be with her then. But he wasn't going to just give up. He was at least going to try to win. He'd try and work on a team with the other wolves, though it didn't look good since Kiyiya wasn't much of a teamwork person, and Hazana was a weak wolf. He felt bad for her, because she didn't stand a chance. Aketa sat down next to Hazana. "Sierra." Covalt called.

Sierra's eyes widened. Her worst nightmare. Coming true. HER DEATH. She was scared of dying, and she didn't want to. She was too young! She had a life to live! She froze but then remebered she had to step forward, so she did. Up a little right behind the rest of the wolves. She gulped and looked up Covalt with her eyes full of fear, and then she quickly averted her gaze. Sierra was not a good fighter. She would not be able to aid her packmates well. Plan? Try to survive and hope the others pull extra weight for her. Plan B? Try to fight and probably get killed in the process. Then again, maybe Covalt would kill her for being a wimp... Ok. She'd try to fight. But if she died that was going to be... sad, to say the least. For her, anyways. The slightly insecure wolf doubted anyone else would care if she wasn't in the world anymore.

Sierra...! Coheed stopped himself from shouting out her name, but he couldn't entirely stop himself from speaking. "Covalt, WAIT!" He snarled. "Send in someone other than Hazana! It's not fair to send in such a young wolf." He'd said the words 'it's not fair' because they'd nearly gotten Karuna killed. "And that's a command!" He added.
"WHAT did you SAY?!" Covalt snarled.
"You heard me." Coheed growled.
"Alright, fine, you stupid runt! We'll send in somebody else."
"Oh, is that so...? And who will-" Coheed didn't get a chance to finish the sentence.
"You. Step forward. NOW. Hazana, get out of here. But know, Coheed, that you've only saved her for a month."
Coheed pretended to be disappointed, but this was exactly what he'd been hoping for. As he walked forward, Hazana walked past him. "Thank you..." she whispered as she did. "Don't mention it." Coheed replied, then continued, and sat down next to Sierra. He waited for Covalt to begin going on and on about how they would be escorted to the valley where they would fight and blah blah blah, before Coheed turned to Sierra. "You're gonna be okay. I promise."

Sierra's jaw was slightly dropped as she listened about the Trials. Basically, four Gangvar wolves versus four of her pack's wolves to fight to the death. Which wolves survive get to live and are considered "strong" and "worthy" of Covalt's pack. Those who die are the weaklings that deserved to live no longer - they were not fit for Covalt's pack. Sierra couldn't believe what the pack had become under the new Alpha's rule. It was now a savage and cruel place. When Coheed spoke up, Sierra's first tthought was, "Disobey the rules and you are killed on the spot." [No italics on my phone, sorry.] Luckily, he wasn't killed; unluckily, Hazana was spared for only a month and instead Coheed was getting sent to die in her place. However, what Coheed told Sierra slightly startled her. She never knew him rather well, and him just going and confirming she was going to be ok was strange, but she shook it off and just nodded, confused on what to say in return.

Coheed wasn't sure if Sierra understood how much he meant that, and he knew she probably didn't. But Coheed wasn't a liar, especially when it came to something important as someone's feelings, or in this case, their life. But he'd prove it once the trials began. If someone was going to try and hurt Sierra, they would have to take Coheed down first.
Covalt stood up. "Everyone is dismissed, except Coheed, Sierra, Aketa (EW, it's Aketa...I'm sorry XD I couldn't help it) and Kiyiya." He climbed down from the boulder, and stood in front of them. He narrowed his eyes. "Now, the four of you, I'm going to explain some things, so shut up and listen. The Valley is huge, it's actually dozens of miles. Since it separates our territory from the other pack's, I will be taking you to the valley. "When you get there, you will not know where your opponents are. Either you will find them, or they will find you. "Don't think that just because the valley is huge, you can escape. One way or another, you will be coming back to camp, whether that means alive or dead. If you die, your body will be taken back, at least for a period of time. After a while, the bodies are actually going to be removed from the camps and put back in the arena, for two reasons. The first is so the camp doesn't smell like death and the second is actually to create a more frightening effect in the arena. But I will know if you escape, and if you do, you will be hunted down and killed. "Now, follow me." Covalt growled, and began walking. Coheed looked over at Sierra before following.

Sierra followed, but couldn't help but think of the morbid aspect of it all. Dead bodies? To make it a more frightening atmosphere? That was so wrong and sick on too many levels. Covalt was quickly showing his true character - he would not be the Alpha like his parents were, which they were kind and yet held power in a good way, but he would be an evil dictator. She didn't like this predicament one bit. Plus, now Coheed was talking this weird stuff to her, and she didn't really know him at all. Trotting up ahead, Sierra began to walk alongside Aketa (I bet you'll kill him). Kiyiya, meanwhile, was actually the one at the front, being his solitary self.

(Me? Kill Aketa? Pfft, why would I ever want to do that?) Covalt lead the four wolves, a couple of his guards in the back so nobody tried to escape. After a while, he began talking again. "Working with your packmates who are here with you is optional. If you want to run off on your own or just plain turn on them or only work with one or whatever, feel free to." He kept walking, and stopped at a steep cliff. There was actually a fallen tree that would work as a bridge for the four wolves to climb down into the valley. "This is the only way in or out of the valley. Now, go. One at a time, it's not strong wood and we need to be able to get more wolves down there later."
Coheed turned to Covalt. "I'll go first." He said. He walked down the tree, and stepped into the Valley, and as he did his blood ran cold. He was in the Arena where he was likely to die, but there was something else he noticed. Sure, there had been wolves who went missing when they had disobeyed Covalt's rules. Coheed knew that, and he knew they had probably died, but he never knew where all the bodies went. Coheed was in the arena, and... There they were.
