Coheed was getting tired, since they'd been walking for quite a while. He turned to Kiyiya. "Don't you think we shout stop soon? The Gangvar wolves are probably asleep by now." He said. "And Aketa can get to scouting." (Sorry for the major fail, I promise I have an idea to make things interesting.)

(It's fine.)
Kiyiya halted and turned around to face the others. "Yeah. We can sleep now. Aketa, you may get to scouting... Remember, be careful, and just try to find them and then come back before midday tomorrow to report to us on what you found. Ok? As for you two," he said to Coheed and Sierra, "Two out of the three of us will be sleeping over on the side of the valley... right in that little patch of grass there." He pointed to a small patch of grass to the side of the valley with his muzzle. "However, one of us has to stand guard and be able to stay awake easily. Now if one of you two want to do it, speak up now. We can also put two up on the job, if you both want to, and we can also switch off if necessary," Kiy finished. Sierra spoke up. "I will," she said softly. "I'll stand guard and alert you guys if I hear or see anything."

Coheed laid his ears back as Sierra spoke up, but didn't say anything. He felt like she was in danger since she was volunteering to stay awake and watch for the Gangvar wolves. He decided he'd pretend to be asleep, but keep an eye out for any danger. After all, what if Sierra saw something and was attacked before she could warn him or Kiyiya? "Be careful," He told her. Aketa nodded and ran off, away from the three of them. He had a plan to win the Trials alone. There'd be only one winner. And it would be him. There wasn't the slightest doubt in his mind. He wouldn't even have to fight, but he just find the Gangvar wolves and run. When they chased him, he'd lead them straight back to Sierra, Kiy, and Coheed, and the two groups of wolves would rip eachother to peices while Aketa escaped without a scratch. But first he had to figure out where the Gangvar wolves were. He kept running, for what seemed like hours. Then he actually heard something other than his own footsteps. "We'll find them in the morning, and get this thing over with. I promise." It sounded like a female wolf's voice, and Aketa slowed down. It was the Gangvar wolves. For sure. He stood behind a bush, and looked at what was ahead of him, where the voice sounded like it had come from. There was only a raven sitting on a low branch of a tree, and it started making noises at him. He narrowed his eyes. The stupid bird's going to give away where I am... He started growling somewhat quietly at the bird. "Well, sorry, but I found you, sir." It was the same female wolf's voice, but he couldn't see her. He looked around frantically, but saw nothing. Anywhere. It was almost as if she was invisible. "Yes, I mean you." The voice was scaring him to death, and he realized there was a lot of grass around him. Tall grass. Nervously, he stepped into it, and started walking around. Hopefully away from the voice. He wasn't finding anything at all. "Oh..." He whipped his head around, the voice was right behind him. "What a shame that you won't be going back." Instead of freaking out, he just froze. He would've been afraid of a simple, normal she-wolf. This one, however, was not normal. She was a gigantic bluish-silver and white she-wolf with orange eyes. She seemed to have absolutely no emotion whatsoever. Her voice had been very, very misleading, and she'd sounded like a pretty normal wolf. She wasn't. (She looks like this: http://th00.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2012/146/1/1/cain___commission_by_fede211295-d515am0.png Except with really bright orange eyes.)

Sierra nodded to Coheed a bit awkwardly, then followed Kiyiya as he headed over to the grassy patch. "You're just going to stand right in front of us. Ok?" the black and brown wolf told her, and she nodded again. Her white fur would certainly stick out - as it always did, everywhere, except in the snow - but all she needed to do was turn around and tell them something was going on. Sounded easy enough. Plus, how could she ever be tired? She was far too afraid to sleep, and if she did manage to fall asleep, she'd have nightmares. Better to stay awake. Hopefully the side effects wouldn't turn up. Sierra laid down as Kiyiya did so in the grass and Kiy fell asleep rather quickly.

--after Aketa's death--
Sierra stood guard while the others slept. (Ok that was major fail. Anyways. Timeskip to midday tomorrow?) EDIT: (Also since this was fail I can start that off.)

Kiyiya was pacing around in a circle, going back and forth, and watched the sun rise up in the pale blue sky. It was about midday now, and Sierra was growing more impatient by the second. "Well, I think it's about time to get moving. Who'll be our next scout?" Kiy asked with a sigh, quickly getting out of pacing-mode and trotting in a direction away from where they started the trial. Aketa's sister would not be happy about this ...happening... if she ever woke up. Sierra jumped up from her sitting position and ran up ahead, joyful to get a move on.

Coheed stood up. He sped up to catch up to Sierra. He knew that she was probably going to be creeped out by him, but he didn't care at the moment, his main goal was just to keep her alive. who'll be our next scout? Kiyiya had asked. He laid his ears back as he realized something: It was either him or Sierra, since Kiy was basically in charge of everything right now. He didn't want Sierra anywhere near the Gangvar wolves, and he wasn't going to let her go near them. He sighed. "I will."

Sierra growled softly, playfully. "I was just about to volunteer," she chirped, about matching Kiyiya's quick pace at this time. Keeping watch all night did not tire her nor bring about the side effects, luckily, and it was quite evident. However, the current thoughts that ran through her mind a while ago before she had opened her mouth to speak were not so bright. Sierra had never really.. fit in anywhere. When she was a pup, she was very much included and her life was a blast, but as she grew older, she became more distant and closed from everybody else, to the point where life was just hunting, the occassional patrol, and watching everybody else in the pack be perfectly fine. Inside, the white wolf was turmoil; not that anybody knew or would ever notice with her cheerful and upbeat attitude on the outside shell. Every day she puts on a smile. Every day no wolf knows that she's just dragging on, waiting for something to happen to make things better, or waiting for age itself so death could come knock on her door and make the real world go away - so perhaps she could be in a better place then.
No one knew anything at all. And no one would ever know anything. Last of all, nobody would care when she died and even in wolf-heaven, nobody would know anything at all. Anyways, Sierra was also pretty good at sneaking around and being quiet, as she was quiet on a daily basis and often snuck about as a pup. So doing that now would be no different. She'd come back by midday, too. Hopefully. And, most to her liking, unscathed. But even if she did die... That'd be fine too. Kiyiya now seemed to contemplate this, and he couldn't really pick one because they basically both wanted to go and proclaimed so at the same time. Instead of mulling it over, he straight out said, "I really don't know who to pick. So both of you just tell me why I should pick you. Coheed, you're up first."

Coheed sighed. He couldn't lie. He couldn't say that it was because he wanted to. He didn't. He was silent for a moment. "Sierra said that she wasn't a very skilled fighter. If they caught her, they would probably do exactly whatever it is they did to Aketa. If they catch me, I've got a better chance of escape." He paused. "And I don't want her to get hurt."

Sierra ignored the last part of Coheed's words and said, "I'm quiet and can be very sneaky. And yeah, I'm not a great fighter, so I just won't get caught. Even if I do it's not a big deal. I couldn't have helped our group much anyway." She flashed a smile and pranced in front of Kiyiya, walking backwards, a trick she had taught herself. Kiyiya thought about this. "Alright, Coheed - first of all, I'm glad you're looking out for the only girl here, but I think she's more skilled in the area of scouting. But... I'll let you two alternate. Sierra will go tonight and Coheed will go tomorrow night. Sound fine to you two?" Sierra nodded and began walking normally, back behind Kiy.

Coheed didn't say anything for a moment. Worst case scenario, he'd follow her while she was scouting. Just in case. "Fine." He said. "But please just be careful." He said to Sierra.
He was terrified for her. What if I can't save her? What if Kiyiya doesn't fall asleep and I have to stay here? He was trying to think of a way that this could go well, playing it out in his mind. But every time, something went wrong. It was like you could never win this game, because there was no true way out. It wasn't possible, and there was only one outcome. The chances that both of them would make it out of the Trials seemed far too slim. He wasn't scared of anything that might happen to him now, except losing Sierra. She barely even knew him but he was trying so hard to keep her alive.
If something happened to him, it wasn't a concern. But she had to go back to the pack. And then maybe, just maybe, they could someday find a way out of Covalt's rules and the cruelty and the possibility of being thrown into the Trials a second time. A way out of all of it.

"I will, I will," Sierra said. She knew she had to be careful and she already was going to be. She needn't be reminded by this guy, who sort of seemed pretty weird. Kiyiya just kept going.
(Urgh, I tried pretty hard to think of something to post, but timeskip to nighttime?)

(Sure.) Coheed had been really nervous as the sky got darker and darker. He seriously didn't want Sierra going to scout. It was too dangerous of a job. She'd get hurt, almost for sure. He didn't say anything, and waited for Kiy to speak up or Sierra to say she needed to go scouting. (Total fail.)

Night had fallen and the stars had begun to climb their way up into the sky, twinkling brightly. "Sierra, it's about time that you got to scouting. We've lost ground since waiting for Aketa, so they may be closer than you think - always be on your guard and be very careful. Good luck. Coheed and I will be over there," Kiyiya said, pointing to the side of the valley at a spot right next to a small, baby tree. He laid down and told Coheed to stand guard and that they'd switch off if he needed it. Then he fell asleep.
Sierra flicked her tail and nodded then ran off.

Coheed wanted to run after Sierra but he quickly realized something. If he went after Sierra, Kiyiya was left alone, and since he was asleep he wouldn't see an attacker coming. But if he stayed with Kiy, there was a chance that Sierra would get hurt or killed. Coheed thought for a little bit, but decided that Sierra was far more important to him than Kiyiya was. As much as Coheed hated leaving him there alone, he stood up and headed in the direction that Sierra had gone. He put his nose to the ground and tried to figure out where she had gone.

Sierra trotted back the way they came and noted the scent in the distance that clearly wasn't the group's own. As she neared the source, a grossly disgusting stench hit her nostrils. She reeled back in disgust and poked her head in some tall grass... And there it was. Aketa's dead, fly-covered body. EW. This must mean that the Grissom wolves were near.. And hadn't gone far, for that matter, because they hadn't walked up the way she came any further since scent tracks don't lie and they wouldn't have and hadn't backtracked. Gargh. Adjacent to this tall grass was an actual small forest with grass and trees, but it wasn't much. A fire had actually spread all along this valley, or at least as much of it that wolves had explored. It was rumored that some of it was still full of life and flourishing.. Somewhere out there...
Sniffing the air, Sierra delicately padded into the forest, being extra careful from now on. They were close.

(The Gangvar wolves, not the Grissom wolves XD) Coheed followed Sierra's scent, running quickly, but being as quiet as he could at the same time. He quickly realized he could smell something. Something dead. He worried about Sierra for a moment, but quickly decided this smelt like it had been dead for too long. If anything had happened to Sierra, it wouldn't possible smell like this yet. There was the faint scent of the Gangvar wolves as well, but the stench of death overpowered it. He wondered for a moment if it was a deer, but he knew what dead deer smelt like. That was different, too. Coheed approached the tall grass, disgusted as the scent got stronger. {I didn't even get to finish this because of my dad's girlfriend.}
