Elli stared at her, keeping her smile, but then lowered her hand and turned to the rest. "Suppose she doesn't have any manners?" she mumbled under her breath, and Nicholas frowned. He opened his mouth to say something, but before he could, Elli chirped, "Anyhoo, we should probably eat now. Dinner's cold, thanks to you, Nick." She lightly shoved him away. "Let's go," she said, motioning for all of them to follow as she trotted out the room.

Karin did a double-take, and noticed Elli's outstretched hand, but when she reached out, the woman pulled away. She frowned, hearing what Elli had said, and looked down. As the others began to follow Elli, she looked up and grabbed Nicholas' arm. "Wait..." she said, head tilted. "What about me?"

"You come, too," Nicholas said, smiling and peeling her hand away from his arm. "It's not like we're just gonna leave you here with nothing to do. And, besides, we always have leftovers."

( PFFT. )

Karin let go of him. "Oh, okay," she said with a nod, then smirked. "So, what, I'm going to be a goat?" She laughed a little.

( YERPFFT. )

Nicholas shook his head, smiling and saying, "No, no," Then he stopped shaking his head, taking Karin by the arm and walking out of the room. "You're going to eat at the table. It's not like we're gonna put a bowl down on the ground and say, 'Here, goaty, goaty! Time for dinner!' That's just not right."

"Goats are cute. I wish I had a kid," Nicholas said, walking into the said dining room. The third oldest stared when they walked in, and he looked away when Nicholas glanced at him. Nicholas rolled his eyes, then pulled out a chair for Karin, motioning for her to sit down when he did.

"Always the gentleman," Daire commented sarcastically under his breath. Nicholas glared.

Karin followed Nicholas into the room, looking around at the people in it. She noticed a young boy look at Nicholas, and then Nicholas rolling his eyes. She tilted her head, obviously confused. The whole lot probably did not have much in common. Karin glanced at the brown-haired teenager when he pulled out a chair for her, then smiled and sat down.

"Always the gentleman."

She looked at Daire, then at Nicholas, then back at Daire. The two seemed to have high tension between them, but Karin decided to say nothing.

Nicholas sat down next to Karin, ignoring the fact that she'd just thrown a couple confused glances at what he'd thought was him and Daire. "Elli's a great cook," he said, trying to start up some random conversation. "And she's so young! It's kind of weird,"

Elli only cocked an eyebrow as she set out a plate of food. "Serve yourselves, men." she said, smiling. "Ladies, wait for Daire to serve you all. He's the oldest."

Daire frowned. "Why does this happen every friday?" he asked as he stood up, reaching for the plate of food.

"I don't think it's weird," Karin chirped, looking around at the people seated at the table. She leaned toward Nicholas, tapping him on the shoulder and whispering, "What do I do?"

( Oh... *counts* Six people. I guessed correctly before!

"Just wait," Nicholas answered, and then he straightened when Daire set a plate of food in front of Karin. "Well?" he said.

"Well what?" Daire lifted an eyebrow.

"Where's my food?"

"You're not a girl..."

"Just serve the kid his goddamn food, Daire. You know he won't eat unless you serve food for him." Elli hissed, and when Daire turned away, practically growling, she grinned at Nicholas. He beamed right back.

"Thanks," Karin said to Daire, and watched the going-ons. She felt quite awkward, then looked down at her plate. The food looked good, but she wasn't entirely sure if she was hungry or not.

"Come on, Karin," Nicholas said quietly, lightly stabbing her with his fork. Clean, of course. "Elli won't like it if you're just staring at her food. She'll think it looks bad."

Karin jumped, looking at Nicholas. "Oh, sorry.." She looked down at her plate, blinking. "I just feel a little awkward, that's all."

Nicholas chuckled, then took a bite of his own food. "Family," he said, shaking his head lightly as he reached out for a bit of bread. The table wasn't quiet, of course; it was getting louder by the minute. There was arguments and peaceful discussions, along with a few, "How was your day?"'s and "Oh, really?"'s. 

"I know I said that we were like a family before," Nicholas mumbled, breaking his tiny loaf of bread in half. "I don't know... Are families like this? I haven't been with mine in years."
