I couldn't take the waiting any longer. If Markus had gotten here sooner, any bravery I had would have vanished. But the look on Jennifer's face made me get up, grab my things, and sit in the seat next to Markus before I could even think of how to act when he got here. Should I acknowledge him or keep to myself? Obviously, I should look at him. I am purposely sitting next to him after all. Would it be mean to act flirty just so Jennifer could get mad? Yes, but how great it would be to see her face turn blood red in anger.
I never found out how I would react when Markus came in, because I became so worried he wouldn't want me sitting next to him. Did he realize everyone thought we were dating? Some sly expressions were passed, seeing me move to sit there. Like this was proof that we were. Maybe I shouldn't have sat here. I wasn't usually so bold. But, if that guy was right, and he did like me, what was the harm? I sighed, putting a hand on my forehead. Not understanding why this sudden change had to be so difficult.

Just as he came to, he managed to catch the final ring of the bell. With that "freaking out" emotion shifting through his head, he jogged to first period before the teacher could show up. But, when he slipped into the room, he found Paradise sitting int he seat right next to his.
Wha?
Cocking his head to one side, he padded over to his seat. Confusion clear on his face. Once he sat down, he turned towards her. Slightly. And opened his mouth to ask a question, only he couldn't think of the words.

I was hoping he wouldn't notice. Or, smile at least, to make Jennifer really mad. But, he chose to look confused, but that didn't ruin how Jennifer frowned at us as he sat down.
"Hi."
I said nonchalantly, like it was normal for me to sit here. I ignored his confused glance, glad I found a not - so - weird attitude to this sudden change in seating arrangements.
"Have you heard the rumor's going around?"
I asked with a lift of my eyebrow in his direction.

Markus, still confused, shook his head. No, he hadn't heard the rumors going around since he arrived at school a bit late and due to the fact that his understanding of the English language was a little poor. Though, he could make out some words. The stragglers he passed in the halls to get to class spoke nothing of this rumor.

My cheeks turned red when he said he didn't hear of the rumors. How was I supposed to tell him without feeling embarrassed?
"They're... Saying stuff about us."
I said with a shrug, thinking that was all I needed to say. But, no, a girl I wished I could strangle decided to ruin it.
"Hey Markus." She said, moving her blonde hair to one side as she batted blue eyes in his direction. She kept her tone quiet, so it was obvious she didn't want me hearing. "I've heard some stuff going around. Is it true that you're dating..." Her eyes went to me, going for a cute bashful look to a disgusted one at me. "Someone?"
She said, looking back at him with pretty blue eyes.

Markus tilted his head. Stuff? What kind of stuff. He continued wondering until Jennifer came up to ask if he was dating somebody. Realization dawned in him, but he made sure it didn't show in his eyes as he turned his crimson gaze to the girl with the blue eyes.
"You care... Why?" he asked, crimson orbs narrowing. He wanted to say she already had a boyfriend, but he didn't know how to say it without sounding foolish. So, he just left it at that question.

I frowned at Jennifer as she leaned closer to him. Leaning my head back and closing my eyes, I tried to ignore the conversation. "I'm just wondering who the lucky girl is. And if it's true."
She said with a grin. I kind of wished we were dating now, so I could do something like put my hand on his shoulder the way she was now to get her away from him.

Markus scowled and leaned back as Jennifer leaned closer to him. Okay. This was so not alright with the vampire. Besides, he was getting a little hungry. A good chomp on her pretty little neck might do her some good as to stay away from him. But she wanted to know who the girl was? Tsk, yea right. She didn't need to know. She was just a she-wolf.
"Why should tell you?" he asked, crossing his arms against his chest as he leaned back into his chair. His tone sounded a little bored.

I smiled at him. Markus was playing along? I hadn't expected that one coming. Jennifer didn't seem to enjoy how he was answering questions with another question. Clenching her jaw, she finally just spat it out. "I just want to know if it's true about you and Paradise!"
She said, her tone quiet for no one else to hear, but irritated all the same. This was quite entertaining now that I realized Markus was willing to play along.

Markus could hear the irritation in her tone. Inwardly, it made him smirk, but he just cast Jennifer a blank look. He blinked and cocked his head, scratching his chin. Then, his eyes widened somewhat, and he showed Jennifer his smirk.
"Jealous?" he asked.

Jennifer frowned, backing away for a second. I think Markus was just now getting the memo if he was serious. Every girl in this school would probably be jealous of me if it was true. Jennifer's face turned red, but she refused to leave looking like the fool. Though I'd argue that she always looked like a fool. Crossing her arms, she shook her head. "Just curious, Markus."

His smirk grew wider when he saw her face heat up and turn red. He could also feel his canines sharpen, so the smirk must've looked pretty startling. Then, his lips covered his teeth and he waved her away.
"Curiosity killed the cat," he quoted. Even though he said all the words, his accented made it sound like a few words were run together.

Jennifer backed away as Markus smirked, but I couldn't see why since his face was turned her way. Swallowing, she didn't respond to his comment. Instead, she turned and went to her seat, her face went from blood red to pale in a matter of seconds.
"What was that about?"
I murmured looking suspiciously to Markus. Before I could ask what happened, or at least laugh about this whole rumor all together, the teacher started class. Jennifer kept glancing back at Markus, not in a flirting way anymore. But in a suspicious way. What had I missed?

Markus glanced at Paradise when she murmured something under her breath. He knew what it was, but he just didn't want to answer. Besides the teacher came in and started the lesson. Though, he had felt a suspicious glance from Paradise before the teacher had done so. Now, he felt that same sensation from Jennifer. Hey, at least it was better than that flirting look. Gods, he couldn't stand that from her.
Maybe if it was from Paradise, but she was still a little suspicious about what had happened.

Jennifer actually stayed away from Markus through out all the other classes before lunch. My suspicions running wild, I sat in my normal seat and got out a sandwich from my brown paper bag. Jennifer's eyes met mine as she sat down with the girls. I wondered where Jeff was, but then again, maybe he broke up with her after seeing what she was doing to Markus yesterday at lunch. I rolled my eyes at the reminder.

It seemed like a normal thing for him to sit with me now. With a smile, I said, "Hey."
before finishing off the sandwich. I saw Jennifer walk by to get her food, and it seemed like she was purposely not looking our way, not coming close. She walked around the other side of the table, and kept her eyes straight ahead. I lifted an eyebrow. Perfect way to start off the conversation.
"Speaking of that... Odd behavior with Jennifer, what was it you did before English that made her so freaked out?"
