In about two hours he reached a large lake. He stopped at the edge of it and sat down, staring over its expanse. He sighed. "Why did I lose it again?" He wondered out loud. "The first time I almost killed my brother...two times after that I actually killed others." He hung his head, a tear running down his cheek. "This time it might have been someone who I love...Jazz....I'm so sorry." Another tear rolled down his cheek.

I was hiding in the trees as he said these things. I had figured at the speed he was running at and the direction he was in and the mood he was in, he would come to the lake. I called it Lake Kurio. I had arrived here in only an hour and i had enough time to get into this hiding spot. It was impossable for him or anyone else to see me.

He laid down, the tears still running down his cheek, ashamed of himself. "I shouldn't have lost it...I can't bare the thought that I could have lost Jazz. I...I love her." He sighed and rested his chin on his forepaws and continue to stare out over the lake. "I wouldn't be surprised if she wanted me to leave her alone, to let her go..."

I was shocked by what he was saying. As much as I hated it, he promised to stay with me forever. I wanted to leave him before. I couldn't bear to leave him now, not after everyhting we had been through. I thought back to the meadow. When I had told him I loved his brother he didn't seem phased. That concerned me for some reason.

He continued to stare out over the lake, deep in thought., wondering if he should be the one to leave her. Was he good enough for her? Did she truly love him? Would he be alone for the rest of his life, even though the pack had excepted him back, he felt like he did not belong.

I knew what he was going through. I had never felt that way before, but I understood how it felt. I didn't know if he wanted comforting, or if I should even be here.

He continued to stare out over the lake, before closing his eyes and wishing that Jazz was there with him. He missed seeing how beautiful she was and how soft her fur was. He missed her fire-like spirit and the way her eyes lit up when she was happy.
(i wont be on again today, celebrating my nephews birthday, which was yesterday but we are having the party today. I will be on quite a bit tomorrow though. Hope to see you then.)

I watched him, mulling it over. I wasn't wanting to ruin the moment if he didn't want me. I wanted to make the moment if he did.

"Jazz..." He whispered to himself. "I hope...you do what makes you happy. Don't worry about me if it upsets you..." He did not know that Jazz was even nearby.

I listened to him. I walked out to the lake, never making a sound. His eyes were closed, looking out over the lake. I layed down next to him, him still not knowing I was even wiht in miles. I layed there, silently, thinking about what to say.

After a little bit he realized that she was there and he smiled and turned to look at her before nuzzling her. "Thank you...for being here." Was all he said before gently moving his body to lay against her, enjoying her soft fur and warmth.

He soon fell asleep as he listened to her heart beat and the sound of the birds happily chirping away. A large smile was on his face as he slept peacefully.

Soon the night faided into a black blurr and I slept a dreamless sleep, like all the other nights of my life.

He woke late into the evening, about three hours before sunrise. Something was off and he sat up and sniffed at the air. He soon realized what it was. A forest fire...a big one headed their way. The only way the two of them could escape would be to swim to the other side of the lake or try to skirt around the fire, before it sped even more. He bit at Jazz's ear with force, not enough to break the skin, but enough to wake her.
When she opened her eyes he looked at her worried. "We have to get out of here." He said knowing that she could smell the burning forest and smoke around them. He jumped into the water and began to swim, hoping to swim upwind of the fire and climb out. That way they didn't have to try to outrun the fire or have to try to swim to the other side of the lake. He didn't think they could make it the few miles across the lake. Swimming upwind of the fire, they would probably only have to swim about a half mile or so, maybe a little more.

I looked worried as I watched Devillin plunge into the river.
"This might be a realy bad time to tell you, but I can't swim!" I shouted to him, pacing back and fourth in the river bank.

He swam back to shore and moved swiftly, lifting her onto his back. this was definitely a time he was glad he was quite a bit bigger than her. He jumped back into the water, making sure she would not fall off and began to swim upwind of the fire.

"Devillin! No!" I shouted, jumping off of his back and back onto the shore. "I can out run it. You go across the river, quick!" I told him, shaking the water off.

He climbed out of the water. "You can't out run it, it's moving to fast." He looked at her sternly. "Trust me, please. Let me help you just this once."
