He looked at the meadow sadly. He remembered when that part of the forest had burned. It was not that long ago when it had happened. He wondered how it had started. Was it the hunters? Or had something else started it.

"Oh no..." I whimpered, laying down and placing my head in my paws. I closed my eyes, trying to remove the images of the burned meadow.

He went over to her and gently nuzzled her, before laying down next to her. "Will you be alright?" He asked.

“No, not until I find out what did this.” I told him, my eyes still shut. As I tried to push the pictures of the meadow to the back of my head, a new one surfaced that I had not noticed before. It was the smell of the fire. It was not like a usual forest fire, but a more familiar scent. I concentrated on that scent for a moment before another memory surfaced. It was a picture of a stone like area, with a fire inside of it in the distance and a brown clay like wall behind it. Then I saw something directly in front of me in my memory. They were long, grey poles that surrounded me. The material looked like that of witch my traps were made of. My eyes snapped open in realization of what that memory was of. It was when I was younger, and still with the gorgons. Those long poles were welded into a cage, locking me in so I couldn’t get out. I let out an ear piercing snarl as I did every time I thought of my time with them. I stood up, my eyes burning brightly with frustration.

He jumped up and looked at her, his worry increasing greatly. "What is it?" He asked as he rubbed up against her, conveying his distress.

As I realized what I did I closed my eyes. "Nothing, sorry." I told him, then opened my eyes again. I turned to look at him and saw the worry in his eyes. "Really, it is nothing. I just need to do something." I told him, looking into the trees. I was going to find out what did this and no one could stop me, no matter what condition I was in. I sat down, thinking. I allowed the memory of the gorgons back in my head. For some reason, I felt like I needed to study it. I concentrated hard on the memory, seeking out all the little details. As I was almost done analyzing half of the room, it hit me. The scent. The fire that burned the forest. the fire that had pushed Devillin across the river and I to outrun it. The fire that might have taken hundreds of lives. The fire that burned the meadow. My meadow. It was the Gorgon's fire. My eyes flashed open, glowing brighter with anger than ever. I let out the fiercest and loudest snarl, scaring everything within ten miles for its life.

He looked at her in shock. "What is it?" He asked, his worry growing as he sensed her anger rise. "Who did this? Can I help with whatever you are planning?" He moved to stand next to her. He then gently nuzzled her, letting her know that he was there and he would always remain with her.

"They did this." I sneered, turning to face him, my eyes still glowing with furry. "They are not getting away with this." I hissed, the anger building up in me. "You stay out of my way and let me do what I'm about to do." I told him, looking into his eyes, forgeting my love for him.

He sighed. "Let me help you." He said, his eyes begging. He did not want to leave her. He wanted to help, especially since she carried his children.

"I will, but let me do what I need to." I muttered, turning my head, my eyes still blazing with anger for the Gorgons. I slowly walked to the very edge of the meadow, then turned my head to take one last look at it. My eyes first followed the edge of the meadow, hoping there would be something still alive. My eyes slowly moved into the center of the meadow. My eyes widened slightly as I caught sight of something white, unlike all of the black around. I walked towards it, my eyes fixed on it. As I approached it, I saw the peddles and a stem of the flower. My eyes softened for a moment, thinking about how similar we were. Alone in the world. No one to tell you that everything was okay. No one to make you smile when you were down. I laid down, my eyes still fixed on the flower. It was alone with no one, but it still had its beauty. A smile slowly came to my lips from our similarities.

He walked over to her and laid down next to her. He gave her a nuzzle and a gentle kiss on the cheek. "You are no longer alone." Was all he said, sensing what she was thinking.

"No, I'm not." i said, looking up at him, an adoring look in my eyes. I loved him, adn nothing could change that. I got up and looked down at the flower. "It is time to go." I told Devillin, still smiling. I turned, starting to walk away from the meadow, into the trees.

He smiled as he got up and followed her. Before long his smile went away as he focused his on the job at hand. He did not know what she planned or who she was after, but he would be with her through the thick and thin. He would never leave her, not even in death if he could help it. He did not want her to be alone ever again.

I walked (soemtimes ran) through the forest for miles, not getting tierd. After about four hours, I felt a little jolt in my stomach. I almost collapsed, but I managed to keep myself together after remembering that Devillin was with me. I let out a little groan, but nothing more. I sat down and listened for a minute, knowing we must be getting close. I closed my eyes, thinking about where we were going. It was my least favorite place ever. My ears perked up for a moment, catching the sound of slow lapping of watter on rocks. I stood up and smiled. "Almost here." I whispered, starting to walk to the lake that lay ahead of us.

When she had almost fallen he moved closer, worry in his eyes. When she remained standing and gave no other sign of distress he relaxed slightly, but remained on edge. When she had mentioned that they were getting close he only nodded and listened along with her. He picked up the sound of voices but it was feint, to the point of being inaudible. He then waited to hear her plan.

I walked for a minute to the lake. Once I breached the tree line, I did not look at the lake, but beyond it, to the mountains. Thoughts flew through my head, none of them good ones. Most were telling me not to do this, others telling me I should not be endangering my children. I walked up to the lake's edge, then sat down. I looked down at the lake, a frown on my face. "I'm assuming you want to know my plan." I said to Devillin over my shoulder.

He walked over to her then sat down. "Yeah...I do." He looked at her with determination to help no matter what, yet the worry for her still shone in his eyes.

I did not move my eyes, just looked down at the lake. "We are going to cross those moutons," I told him. "Then we are going to go the gorgons." I said, my voice firm with determination. I was going to sneak into their caves and I was going to kill them all, or die trying.

His eyes grew hard. "Are you sure you can do that in your condition? If you do this there is a good chance you could kill the children." He stiffened suddenly, the hackles on the back of his neck rising. "Someone's coming and they mean trouble." He hissed as he moved to hide in the brush.

My eyes widened, catching the sound. My quickly ran into the brush beside Devillin. "Stay here, I'll be right back." I whispered to him. I darted off into the trees, not making a sound.
