"So what? They have feelings too. Haven't you noticed yourself getting sick and almost falling at times? That is there way of saying enough. All you are caring about is revenge. What about your pride as a mother to be? What about you caring for the lives of others? What happened to that? Revenge will get you no where. I know that for a fact...I've ran after revenge too many times. Each time it did not bring satisfaction. All it brought was more pain." He sighed and just stared at her, waiting for her response.

"I am capible of knowing the outcomes. I don't care about my pride. They have destroyed my life over and over again!" I growled at him. "And by doing this, I am saving lives! Hundreds of lives! I heard them planning. If I let them live, they will do what they did to me to others!" I told him. "You are different than me, Devillin. You don't know anything about me if you don't know that I am going to do this, and there is no way to stop me. Now, you can either come along, or leave this moment." I snarled.

He grumbled, unsure of what to do. He wanted her to stop, but he knew that no matter what he said she wouldn't. He also didn't want to get involved in her own vendetta of sorts. He sighed, thinking hard, pacing back and forth.

He did not know what to say. It broke his heart to make her mad, but he knew that even if she succeeded, she would not feel at peace. She would only be more upset. He knew the feelings too well. He had chased after revenge his whole life, and that did not heal anything. It only wasted time...time he could have had with family...time he could have shared with someone. He could have accomplished many things. Instead it left him with a hole in his heart and mind. A hole that had slowly started to close because of the one he loved...Jazz.

I turned around to look him in the eyes, to make it apparent one last time that I had made up my mind and ne matter how much it hurt me, I was going to do it. "Now." I growled, implying I was not goign to wait much longer before forcing him out if he didn't go willingly or come with me. My eyes burned brightly in the night, showing my frustration with his indecision. I wanted to act now, not wait for him to make up his mind. I waited a moment, then looked up at the sky. The morning was not far off, and I was getting hungry. A mental smile appeared as I thought of what Kenteth once said to me when I went hunting for one of the first times. I suddenly snapped back into reallity for another howl was let out from one of the wolves in the distance.

He sighed, hanging his head in defeat. "I will go with you..." He paused and looked up and sniffed at the air. The smell of ash and death hung in the air as the wind blew it towards him. "Something's not right." He paused again. As another howl broke out in the distance. "That howl....It's one of pain." He tilted his head confused, and he sniffed at the air once more, the smell even stronger now.

A sudden realization came to me at that moment. This was the day, six years past, that I had killed the young wolf. my face saddened as the memory played once more in my head. I turned around to face him, a tear falling from my pure white face. "You don't know the half of it..." I whispered to him. I turned my face and walked over to the ocean's edge, then heard another howl. I let out a howl in responce. Not a howl or anger or frustration, but a howl of simpathy. I looked up at the almost gone moon and sat down. "We better get some rest." I whispered to Devillin. "We have a fight comming in the morning." I said, my voice sure. I sat there, looking down at the water, one thought going through my mind. It was something Keneth said to me one time when I had got hurt. "Always keep your head up, never let your head down." He said to me as he craled me in his arms. It was so long ago, I didn't know how I remembered it. I was so young, so unaware. I lifted my head up to the moon, a smile almost appearing on my face.

He walked over to her and sat down. He then gently nuzzled her. "There may not be a fight...Too many have been killed recently...I can smell their blood. That is why they cry with such sorrow." He then looked out over the ocean. "One day...I want to know what it looks like on the other side of it." He practically whispered it as his eyes seemed distant. |

"That is where you are wrong. They cry out because of me, Devillin, me. No one else, just me." I sighed and looked over at him. I shook my head, looking out over the vast ocean. Right then, I promised myself that I would take him to the other side one day, no matter what the risk. I sat there, thinking about the fight to come. "Now, rest, for in the morning, we shall take the fight to them." I snarled the last part.

He nodded slowly before laying down. "As you wish." He closed his eyes and soon fell asleep, wondering if she even smelled what he did...smelled the strong scent of blood. |

I sat there, awake for a minute before my hunger took over. I walked down wind of Devillin a few yards, then sat down. I watched as a fish came by. I quickly scooped it up in my mouth, devowering it. I sat tehre fishing for about an hour. I had got about 30 fish, and eaten about half of them. I brought them one by one over to Devillin, pilling them up as I did. I looked up at the sky. It was almost morning. I heard a very faint howl from the pack, but did not respond. I ran off twords the cave where I had lived many years ago. I ran as fast as I could, still not making a sound. I reached the caves in under ten minutes, then stopped. I looked around, knowing that I was safe; the Gorgons slept in. I survayed the area, then decided the best path in. I turned around and ran back to Devillin. It was morning, and I sat down next to him. I picked up a fish from the pile and rather noisly dropped it again onto the other fish, trying to wake him up.

His eyes snapped up and he moved into a fighting stance. When he saw Jazz, he relaxed. He then saw the fish and smiled. "Did you get these for me? Thank you." He then began to eat the fish. In under a minute he had devoured all the fish. "Those were delicious. Thank you again. Now then." He gave a small sigh then nodded to himself. His face set. "Let's go." |

I smiled. "I went ahead and scouted the way. Ther eis a path directly into the heart of the cave. From there we can access al of the different chambers with out making a sound. I do need to do one thing before we go." I told him, the smile growing even bigger as I noted one more thing I could do that he couldn't. "I need to teach you in the arts of killing the Gorgons." I said. I turned around and walked a few feet away to a large patch of sand. "Come." I commanded.

I stepped back to hthe edge of the sand pit as I called it. "Go to the far edge of the sand." I told him, pointing to the edge he was closest to.

"Attack me." I told him, still standing. I smiled. "One more thing to the list." I thought to myself. I streached my legs and body. I then threw my front part up in the air, letting my back legs support me. I was standing on two legs - something that no one else had ever done or could do. I stood about six feet tall, just as a gorgon did.
