He nodded, still keeping his eyes closed. He started to sniff the air, moving around as he did so. Within seconds he caught the scent of the stick. He then bolted over to it and grabbed it, with the rodent, and brought it back to her. His tail wagging like crazy now.

"Good. Now, wait here, keep your eyes closed." I told him. I made it slightly more difficult by putting the stick in a smellier rodent to mask the scent even more. I walked back over to him. "Do it agin." I told him.

He kept his eyes closed and started to sniff the air again. After a couple of minutes, he once more found the stick and brought it back to Jazz.

I took it from him and made it more difficult. This time I moved all the rodents around, just to switch things up a bit. "Again!" I told him.

He repeated the process, once more finding the stick, still under 5 minutes time.

I got a stick and did as I had done before, but this time I made the rodent many times larger then the last one. "You are doing well. Now, again!" I demaned.

He focused his mind on the smell of the stick and nothing else. Withing two minutes he had found the stick. He was grinning big time as he brought the stick back to her.

"Intresting." I said. I thrust the stick I had used into a rodent five times the size of the last. This was the second to last test. "Only two more times." I told him.

"Very intresting." I told myself. I hid the stick one more time in the biggest rodent there. "This is the last time." I told him.

He continued to focus only on the scent of the stick and nothing else. He found it in slightly less than three minutes. Again he brought it back to Jazz, still keeping his eyes closed since she had not told him to open them yet.

"You can open them now." I told him. I looked inot his eyes as they opened. "You failed the test." I told him.

He tilted his head. "Oh?" Was all he said, now getting really confused.

"You followed the wrong stick for the last three tests. I threw the first stick into the trees and got a new stick. You used your ears, not your nose." I told him as he got even more confused.

"Really? But it smelled exactly the same...." He tilted his head to the other side.

"You are not concentrating. I made sure they smelled completely different. You were letting your ears take over. You need to truely concentrate on the smell. I have an idea. Go back to the East, just as you did before. I need to prepare things." I told him. He wondered off to the East, up wind, so he couldn't smell anything. After I got everything ready, I came and got him. "Back into hibernation you go!" I told him. He soon was asleep. I took him back into the feild and licked him to wake him. "Eyes closed!" I told him. "Okay, now. I want you to tell me witch way I'm going,relying on my scent, okay?" I asked him. He nodded. I ran to the East.

His ears twitched as he heard her going east. "EAST!" He cried out.

I walked back to him. "Wrong. I went to the East, then I cirled around to the South. You were concentrating on sound again." I told him.

He grew even more confused. "But I did say east." He said with a sigh. He heard her move south. "South!" He cried out, not bothering with scent since he was already getting annoyed.

I sighed. "I went to the south Devillin. Mabe this wasn't such a good idea. I just don't think you are ready for this." I told him.
