"Well, um, if you like we can travel with one another for a little while," Gabriel offered, smiling as his Skitty remained on his lap. He put his Poke ball back in his pack as he moved to lie down, curled around Delilah with Cynder nestled up to the both of them. "It'd be safer most likely to have more than one person going anywhere right now after all."

Serenity smiled at the thought of traveling with you, but quickly masked it with an emotionless shrug. "It would probably be safer that way, you're right. Maybe we could figure out how to sort through this mess.""As far as me becoming a ranger..." She seemed lost staring off into space. "I decided that even pokemon need help sometimes, and the more people that capture pokemon to use for their own personal gain, the less people are concerned about pokemon or their natural environment." She looked at you quickly. "Not that I have anything against trainers! My brother is a trainer, and they actually care for their pokemon. I respect trainers and what they do. No, I meant more so the people like Team Psychosis, who use pokemon to get ahead, make money, swindle people into doing what they want... Those are the people that pokemon in the wild need protection from." She pet her noibat absentmindedly. "I bonded with my partner when her mother was poached, and her and her brothers and sisters were abandoned in a nest. No other noivern would come to care for them, for they had come into contact with humans, and wild noivern won't associate themselves with the smell of people."

Gabriel nodded slightly, stroking Delilah, who had dozed off by that point. "I became a trainer so I could…get better? I've never been the strongest or the best at anything, and to top it off I kind of have a few asthma problems." He closed his eyes and smiled a bit. "And to top it off, Pokemon are pretty amazing aren't they? If you treat them well you have a friend you can always rely on for the rest of your life and...and that's an amazing thing. You help each other get stronger, encourage one another to strive for greatness."
He was quiet for a little bit.
"It's... a symbiotic relationshio, mutually beneficial to both parties, in most cases. It can be such a beautiful thing, and yet we have people like Team Psychosis who seem determined to ruin it for everyone else. It's...it's ridiculous, really." Gabriel bit his lip lightly. "It may just be the fact that I'm kind of a wimp, but...everything would be so much better if we didn't actually end up having to fight anyone to protect the rights of everyone else." He opened his eyes again, slightly, to look down at Delilah. "I wish nobody had to suffer."

Serenity nodded sympathetically, watching Delilah sleeping in your lap. "Symbiotic..." she murmured. "Well, it's been a rough day for me... I'm going to get some rest. We can travel together in the morning. Where are you headed? And have you battled the leader here yet? I'm on my way to Snowbelle City, the undead seem to be spawning from that direction anyway..."

"I haven't beaten the gym yet no. I had just gotten here when I came into the Center so I could get help for Delilah. I'd promised her I would, so..." He smiled a bit. "And I don't know if we're ready for a gym battle just yet...I should probably train these two more just to be safe," he murmured softly with a tilt of his head. "And after that it's probably to Santalune as well. I want to try to help stop whatever's going on since so many pokemon are suffering."
Garbiel moved so he could nestle under the blanket with Delilah and Cynder, humming. Maybe he should try to find a Moonstone soon for Delilah... |

Gabriel slept soundly that night and was very well-rested the next day. He got up, got Delilah into a Poke ball for the sole purpose of being able to return her from any danger along the road, and got the stuff from his bed all set up. He took a deep breath and, with Cynder on his shoulders and Delilah in his arms, headed out into the lobby.
He smiled when he saw Serenity and stepped up to her, offering a sheepish little wave. "Should we go get some training in on Route 4?" he asked, smiling a bit. "I didn't get much of a chance to yesterday since I had found Delilah and came here immediately after." |

Serenity smiled, Natty perched on her shoulders. "I'm glad you asked. We can head out now if you want. I'd like to talk to Raphael if I could... We should definitely stick together to make sure we aren't attacked..."You pass the guards at the gates and they let you out easily. You guess correctly that it's only letting you in that is the problem. The city is on high guard, with a sign posted introducing a new maditory curfew at dark. It is a chilly day, but not rainy. The sky is still dark with grey clouds, but they aren't leaking anymore. Overcast and dreary, you fear dark will be coming sooner rather than later. Serenity kept her eyes peeled, scanning the foliage surrounding you, but she informed you later that the undead seem to mostly appear after six at night.

Gabriel nodded, then blinked once. "Um, mind my asking who Raphael is?" he asked as they headed along the the path, searching for Pokemon to battle. He really needed to get around to battling, especially with Delilah if she was feeling up to it so she could get used to having three legs.
"See anything?" he asked gently, the questioned aimed as much at his Pokemon as it was Serenity and her Noibat. |

She blinked. "Raphael? I take it you're not from the country. Raphael is a gardener... well, he's more than a gardener. No one knows where he comes from, or where he lives. He tends to Route 4, caring for all of the flowers, but he does it for free. Children often bring him food, but he never asks for anything. Even the pokemon of the Route help him out, the only pokemon he owns himself a ralts and roselia that follow him everywhere. I just hope that since this... outbreak, he has managed to stay out of the crossfire."As you walk, things seem peaceful. Once again the flowers are covered in flabebe and combee. Bug and fairy types... types that wouldn't be effected by the undead virus. You remember that they said fighting and psychic weren't effected as well. It didn't seem that many other pokemon were out to battle. They were probably hiding, trying to stay out of the open, scared to death of the undead. The small pokemon were anyway. The larger pokemon were having their food sources killed and turned by the undead, and were being pushed closer and closer to the cities.... As if your thoughts became reality, you hear a large crashing from the woods to your right. Suddenly, right in front of you, leapt a giant carnivine, the same in fact from the day before!

((You are allowed to do whatever will keep you alive. The only time there is a requirement for the amount of pokemon used in a battle is when you are in a formal battle with another trainer. "This will be a one on one battle with three pokemon" for example. If Team Psychosis or a wild pokemon confront you there are no rules on how to stay alive!))

Gabriel smiled sheepishly. "I'm from Lumiose actually. I've never really been out this way before, so I've never heard about him before."
And then the Carnivine. Of course it would be the Carnivine.
"Serenity are you ready to battle?" he asked as he backed up, Cynder flying forward and Delilah hopping out of his arms. She was a little wobbly at first but she adjusted well enough.
"Cynder use Tailwind and Growl, then Delilah use tail whip and tackle!" he called, talking a step back. They couldn't run, the pokemon was too close at that point. Hopefully their combined efforts would be alright. "Try to avoid its attacks if you can!" |

The tailwind went off first, with a strong wind suddenly blowing from behind you towards the carnivine. It seemed to empower Cynder, but Delilah... "Ski!" Fell flat on her face, losing balance from the wind! The carnivine saw what had happened, and began floating towards the skitty (of course they freaking float,) but Cynder saw what was happening, and lunged for its face, protecting Delilah. "Chi!" she screeched, intimidatingly enough to get the carnivine to float back a bit. "Natty use snatch!" you hear from your right. Snatch? That isn't normally a noibat move... it's an egg move!"Viii!" screeched the carnivine, attempting to use a stun spore on Cynder and Delilah by shaking around it's dangling vines. Natty glowed, however, and the spores were absorbed into her skin, firing right back out at the carnivine, which fell sideways, paralyzed. Delilah took this as her cue to lunge forward on her three legs, tackling it in the face. "Ski!" The tough grass type pushed itself off of the ground, floating just barely. It looked almost fainted. ((capture 9/10 This thing will fight to the death against being captured, and if by some chance it is, it will take months to get it to obey. Probably not worth the fight.)) |

Gabriel gave Serenity a thankful smile before returning to the task at hand. "Cynder, Delilah, use tackle together!" he called, hoping that would be enough seeing as the Carnivine was almost down. It didn't seem like it would like being captured too much and he was only doing this much out of self-defense.

Cynder hit first, with Delilah crashing into it just after. The little skitty seemed very proud of herself for landing the last blow. Cynder grew two levels, hitting level 7 now, and Delilah grew one, hitting level 9. Serenity smiled, and did something strange. She pulled out a strange walkie-talkie like device, and pushed a button. A wand close to two feet in length extended out of one side! She pointed it at the carnivine. "Capture styler, go!" she called, all professional. Pushing a button, a small top-like thing sprang from the device, traveling along the rod until it spun off. She then seemed to control it, motioning the wand and guiding the levitating top as it spun around and around the carnivine. Soon, the device made a click, and the carnivine glowed. "Capture complete," she said quietly this time. Serenity then began approaching this giant, ferocious pokemon. She put her hand on its head, and began to pet it, soothing the monster with comforting words.

Gabriel smiled down at his pokemon before he wandered forward, kneeling down to lift up Delilah and give Cynder a smaller distance to flutter onto his shoulder. "Great job you two," he said gently, grinning before he looked up at the Carnivine.
"I saw that same Carnivine in the forest yesterday, when it was just me and Cynder," he murmured softly, zeing a bit apprehensive about approaching the large carnivorous plant. |
