The second officer, who was busy talking about witness accounts not matching up and that one of the patrol cars finally found the 'nutjob' owner of the house, realized his partner wasn't listening and hit him over the head, snapping him out of his nasal investigation.

Conveniently, a massive fireball erupted from the house as the gas main ignited, spreading the fire to every house in the adjacent area and sending the fire department and bystanders scattering.
The two police officers rushed over to help a civilian that had fallen over, leaving the carnivorous friends hiding behind the bush to themselves.
