Syra was bored and began eavesdropping to the story at the door.

Whether we wanted it or not, we\'ve stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let\'s get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta\'aurc. From what I can gather he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank outside of Rubicon. He\'s well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

"After finding out about the area and seeing some of the victims, Bow Wielder and I quickly determined the culprit was a Basilisk. There were three rivers near the villages so the victims had only seen the creatures reflection in the water. Some local guard joined us on a hunt for the Basilisk's lair, but an hour or so in the egg Bow Wielder had found by the road started to hatch. It was a snake, although a strange one, with very piercing yellow eyes and dark green scales. Bow Wielder headed back to the village to tend to his snake, which he named Leo, because he refused to release it into the wild. After more than a day of searching we found the Basilisk was hiding in a cave, and that the monster was dead. After some looking around we discovered a nest of eggs, laid before the creature died. We took the eggs back to the village and cracked them, taking a look at the young inside. Unfortunately, Bow Wielder's snake wasn't a snake..." Sword Master stopped as he heard Syra move up to the door. "Someone is eavesdropping." he said quietly.

"So you found an actual snake-basilisk?" asked Syra, stepping into the room. "I call lies on that"

"I have found more than one, although that Basilisk was very old and had likely just chosen the cave as a place to lay a final brood and die. The one I found two years earlier was in a massive series of underground caverns that were connected to the sewers through a small hole, we actually found it by mistake. Shall I continue or do either of you have more questions?" he looked at Ebony.

"Because most Basilisks were cursed and turned into Cockatrice. Those Basilisks must be extremely old. And the egg, it must've been laid before the curse, otherwise it would've hatched into a Cockatrice" said Syra.

Amoori felt awkward and went in search of this "Olivia" person...She soon found her, and tapped her on the shoulder.

"Well, you will have to ask someone more knowledgeable on Basilisks, or a God-Like because they would have been there, but that is another matter." Sword Master said.

"What was that shudder for?" Sword Master tended to pick up on small things like that.

"Ok then...anyway, story time, so where was I?" he asked, more for their benefit than his.

"Thank you...some local guard and I went to find Bow Wielder and likely save him, but we found him by the river. He was entertaining himself by having Leo stare at insects and they would die in mid-air, then Leo would acrobatically snatch them as they fell to the ground. We explained to him it had the powers because Leo was in fact, a Basilisk. Bow Wielder stubbornly refused to give him up, saying that Leo couldn't kill anything bigger than a fly. We tried to convince him that was because it was only a couple of days old but he wouldn't listen to reason and made the stupid decision to pretend to release it in the tropical, monster-infested country Lesonai. Several weeks later reports had started to come in again about paralyzed animals and people, one pig actually dying. Me and Bow Wielder traveled back to the village to investigate..." he stopped and had a drink of water. "Sorry."
