A large heron-like bird poked its head out of a hole in a crumbling apartment block and studied the group closely. It rattled quietly to itself before pulling its head back into the relative safety of the building.

The bird jumped put of a shattered window and glided across the street and through another window.
"Do you really?" Ebony asked.
('Glided' doesn't sound right but 'glid' isn't a word. Might just be me though XD)
