Ooc; Romeo and Juliet should be great. I'm semi-familiar with it. (Thank my English teacher from last year for that. xD) That's a great idea; don't shoot yourself for it. xD Would you like me to edit Porter's post saying they could pair up to do more than lines and such? Maybe tell them to do some set work. xD

Ooc// Sorry about the late reply. -_- I had a lot of chores yesterday. Bic// Ally grinned and hopped up on the stage at the drama teacher's command. She knew the worn black-painted wood well, and the supply closet tucked off a wing backstage was just as familiar. A couple of her classmates fell in beside her, and together they gathered paint, nails, hammers, wood, and yards of fabric, among other things. The supplies were dumped center stage, and then the other two disappeared, searching for the wooden base they'd begun to make. The rest of the group was collecting around the supply pile they'd made, and Ally realized Mr. Porter had said something about a new kid. She turned to the new kid--Alex, was that his name?--and plastered on a fake smile. She didn't really have patience for kids that needed babysitting on their first day, but if it meant getting on Mr. Porter's good side, she would take it. "I'm Ally," she said, extending a hand towards him. "Welcome to the drama club. If you're going to be helping us, we're working on designing Juliet's tower--oh yeah, we're doing Romeo and Juliet for our play this year." She gestured to the big frame being rolled in. "As you can see, we haven't gotten very far. We can use all the help we can get." With that said, she returned to the group, picking up a swathe of beige fabric that could be draped over the frame to make it appear solid. She didn't want to help the new kid, but she had a sinking feeling that no one else would step up to the job. Ooc// Ally sounds kinda rude in this... o3o But yeah, that's just Ally. |D

Once Alex knew the play they were doing, he felt a bit more at ease. He could put himself in Romeo's world for a few moments to look at the set, something he's always done when he was in theater at his old school. He nodded to Ally and gave her a strained smile, his awkwardness still finding way because of the change. "I've been in a few productions, tech and onstage, so I think I won't be completely useless to you," he said. He glanced at the ladder that was against the wall next to the towering frame of what would, of course, be the tower. He climbed up a few of the rungs and reached a hand down to Ally. "Hand that up?" he asked expectantly. When he flickered his gaze back up to the tower, he realized there was a small platform in the middle of the tower skeleton and his ladder wasn't against a wall, but another stretch of platform where the actors and actresses would be able to get to and from the top of the set. "Huh," he said to himself. "So Ally, what part are you playing in this?"

Ooc// Gracias~ <3 Bic// "Just an understudy," Ally said. "I'm more of a backstage magic-maker," she admitted, smiling sheepishly. She complied and handed him up the fabric, looking up at Alex as she did. She didn't enjoy babysitting, but maybe this newcomer wasn't so helpless after all. "So what plays have you done at your other school, Alex?" Ooc// Sorry for the short post. xD; I find it sort of hard to come up with long replies when the characters in the midst of a conversation. I was also wondering if you had an idea of how long the posts should be. Literate, semi-literate, somewhere in between...?

Ooc; Somewhere in between is fine. I usually only post 2-5 paragraphs and 3 pars are my usual. Bic; "My school was a lot smaller than this," he said with a grin as he set the fabric on the edge of the "window". He found a stapler on the inside of the tower and stabled the fabric into place. He pulled on it experimentally and when it didn't come loose, he stabled the edges of it so it wouldn't sway when the actors walked by it. "So, we didn't do any major productions or any of the competitions. We did Hamlet and Frankenstein, which was fun. I have to say, I prefer being a techie." He clambered down the ladder and gestured to the fabric with his chin, suddenly feeling a bit self conscious. He wanted to start off his new year here right. "Good?"

"Yeah, looks good," Ally said dismissively, trying not to feel a bit envious. On her first day as an awkward, shy freshman she hadn't done a job half as well as he did right there. Despite her misgivings toward him, she couldn't help but feel sympathetic--and grudgingly admiring--of his good attitude. It had to be hard coming to a school where most people had known each other since kindergarten, or at least freshman year. The cliques had already formed, enemies already made. And to come late was to stick out like a sore thumb--yet here he was, doing good work and with a smile. Feeling slightly remorseful of her dire, condemning thoughts, Ally offered a smaller, more genuine smile. "You want to help me inventory props? There's a whole prop room backstage."

Alex felt a bit of relief sweep through him when she seemed to take a liking to the work he'd done. He glanced back up at the fabric, noting that it was just a bit lopsided, and glanced back at her. The idea of seeing the backstage, surprisingly, made him a bit excited. He nodded to Ally and grinned. "I'd love to. So how big is this school anyway? A thousand students, maybe?" he asked as he looked around the theater room, finding himself a bit more at home on the stage and, of course, the stares of the class weren't directed at him. //fail

"Um...closer to two thousand, probably," Ally said, frowning. "It's pretty big." She led him through the dark winding hallway that had become so familiar to her. They passed one, two, three doors on either side before she stopped and opened the fourth door on her left. It opened outward with a faint creaking noise, and inside lumpy shadows gathered in the shapes of props. Ally strided in confidently, flicked on the lights, and blinked as the array of items were thrown into sharp detail. She glanced back to Alex for a moment before walking in deeper. Rows of shelves and boxes lined either side, some labeled neatly, others overflowing with old props. An odd item lay here or there, giving the room an appearance of an giant toybox. She frowned, considering what they needed, and then went to the back of the room, where the floral arrangements were kept. "We can start here," she announced.

"Wow," Alex said as the girl told him approximately how many people there were in the student body. He shook his head and followed after her into what he supposed was the inventory room. When she flicked the light switch, Alex's mouth widened slightly at the rainbow of different items that lay scattered on the floor, in boxes, and even hung strung on the ceiling.
"We can start here," he heard Ally say and he nodded to her, his eyes still lingering over a few more exotic and rather strange props in the room: what seemed to be a peacock-like gown and a scraggly beard that looked eerily real.
He moved over to where she stood in the back and picked up a few flowers, not really knowing if they were real or not. "Alright. So we're just writing down how much of...these are in here?" he asked.
Ooc; Sorry about the late response. o_o
