"I am! I'm not one im three!" Ebony argued.
Goblinsong took a few minutes to take in the machine. maybe this is why techies call technology 'beautiful'.

"Ebony, it is not going to work." Valkyrie said. "Besides, even if we could take out a number of the Rats Dredge would simply fire the machine and we would all be finished. In order to pull this off we are going to have to pull off a simultaneous, stealthy assault-and yes you will probably be using your powers, but not to try and take control of the Rat horde."

Valkyrie laughed. "Possibly Eb, possibly."

"Valkyrie, she does raise an interesting point, if we eliminate a large portion of the rodent army Dredge will be significantly handicapped." Raavol said. "Plus, we could minimize the risk through psychic amplification and reinforcement, or by making sure we are a safe proximity to her." "No, we are not taking that risk, we have very few capable warriors as it is." Valkyrie said, glancing at Ebony. Raavol stood up, his massive bulk towering ominously over the others. "Valkyrie, you are emotionally compromised, you are well aware she is not Skyyron and hindering our true mission, therefore her loss is not a risk, the Skyyron Arkias Kyll clearly dictates such facts. The Skyyron Arkias Kyll also dictates that any and all advantages should be exploited in dire situations! You need to put your emotional attachments aside and focus!" "Raavol, I am in command and I give the orders, the Skyyron Arkias Kyll is clear that orders are final." Valkyrie said, unaffected by Raavol's stature and power. Raavol growled. "You are correct, I apologize sir."

Ebony's ears flattened against her head. "I've destroyed ENTIRE WORLDS WITHOUT MUCH MORE THAN A SCARTCH!" She yowled. "A few billion rats are NOTHING if I set my mind to it!"

Valkyrie looked from Raavol to Ebony. "Fine. Do it. But you are to be nowhere near us when you do- and minimize casualties. Once you have done that we can take out the weapon before Dredge fires it, but it will have to be immediate, Dredge will fire the weapon if this goes wrong. Are we clear?" Valkyrie said firmly. Raavol clasped his right shoulder with his left hand, slamming his arm into his chest-plate. "Of course my lord. The enemy shall not stand a chance." "To coin an earthen term-don't jinx it." Valkyrie replied grimly.

"Jinx's aren't real." Ebony said. "Unless you're a setik.... then they're very real..... If it makes you feel better I can just move the minds into pebbles or something for however long we need and then put them back when we're done."

"Incapacitate them, put them into a coma, make them terrified of everything that moves-just ensure they will not be an obstacle." Valkyrie said.

"Excellent. Once Ebony has done that we will have an extremely short window to shut down the machine and we are going to require everybody's aid." Valkyrie said, looking around the cave.

"Against rats?" Calypso cheeped, swooping down from the roof and landing on Valkyrie's head. "Chii?"

Valkyrie whipped out his sword and swung it up at Calypso using the same momentum. He just managed to stop himself before he decapitated her. He paused for a second, sheathed his sword and answered. "No, the Rats aren't the problem, Dredge and his bodyguard will be the problem. Dredge will likely be wherever the machine is so he can activate it quickly, and Goblinsong could be anywhere." "I can defeat the bounty hunter." Raavol growled in his deep voice. "I'm aware, but it is not about skill, it's about tactics. Dredge might not activate the machine, or at least not straight away, but we cannot take such a risk. We need to take out the machine a matter of minutes after the Rats are dealt with or the weapon could fire." Valkyrie said. "Or Dredge could escape with the device." Raavol said. Valkyrie nodded, the notion only now dawning on him.

Raavol leaned towards Valkyrie slightly and flicked Calypso into the wall at the far end of the cave.
The Gas Skull was now on the roof of the bank and Dredge was busy checking the machine over with a team of less-than-helpful rats, who really wanted to kill something, not help the crazy fish-man fix his thingy-mibob. Dredge had left Goblinsong on the ground floor to deal with anyone that approached, although the hundreds of Rats milling about would likely help. (Just a report on what is happening with teh baddies XD)

Bill the Aramuk and her teammates Expen the Seenoke and Dee the Kiiurem didn't like techies. They were raised to believe that the techies wanted to revive the terrible instruments the humans had used to break things in the war. So when they heard that there was a techie with a big bad bit of technology, they were very upset. They packed their bags and shouldered their weapons and left their homeland of pretty forests and plains and went all the way to the nasty, stinky, crumbling city of smellyness. Now they had tracked down the baddie and his minions and were hiding just outside his lair. (NO REGRETS! XD)
Calypso screeched and fluttered up to the ceiling.

Rats scurried around the streets near the building, chasing down unfortunate tiny animals for food or scavenging parts that Dredge might like so they would get a better share of the spoils. These 'patrols' were supposed to make sure people didn't get too close to the bank without them knowing, but the rats were far too uninterested to actually look for threats. The Rats in the building scurried about, taking away the last of Dredge's communication pile, pushing tables over or arguing among themselves. Many of the rats were climbing up to high places and dropping things on Goblinsong's head to amuse themselves.
"Thank you Raavol." Valkyrie said, looking up at Calypso.
