"Hurry, they are right on our tail." Valkyrie said. The Rats surged up after the group. By now some of the Rats had made it to the beam and began expertly crossing it, but because of the horde of Rats trying to cross at once dozens fell to their doom.

It detonated, causing the beam to break and all Rats on it to fall down onto their brethren below. "That will by us time, but not much." Raavol said.

The Higher Rats had formulated a plan after much bickering. The Rats began to make a Rat ladder, piling up on op of each other. With hundreds of Rats on them the few on the very bottom died, but there were still thousands of Rats so it mattered not.

The seenoke tossed her head and snorted.
"Up." Crawford said, running up another flight of stairs.
The 'cockateil' nodded to Sorrel and spoke in Lesstin "You, follow and pick off the rats that get a hold of me!"
Sorrel nodded and followed the 'cockateil'.
The 'cockateil' screeched a battle cry and flew talons-first through the middle of the rat ladder.

Valkyrie and Raavol followed Crawford. The Rats tumbled down, screeching in anger and fear. Several Rats managed to cling onto the cockateil, biting and scratching it. The Rats changed strategy, forming thinner ladders up to the second staircase. (Everyone is on the third)
