( xD Lmao. I know a kid named Jake. He's got purdy eyesss. ) Sinclair nodded slightly. Oh, he understood, all right. Although he felt as though he'd probably be intruding by asking questions about all that, he asked anyway. "And... How did they find out?" he asked, tilting his head at a book he had in his hands now. He'd randomly picked it out and flipped through the pages; now he had to read it. The few sentences he'd read had piqued his interest. Whatever the other had done, it had gained the same interest Sinclair had in the book he'd randomly selected. ~ Eden chuckled softly. "Alrighty then," she said, Well, they didn't seem like bad people. She relaxed some, tensed muscles doing the same as her nerves. "He is pretty creepy," Eden added with a slight giggle. Maybe she could make friends with Cala by joining in on her teasing of this other dog-smelling person. ( Fail. xD; )

Jake only growled under his breath, climbing in the drivers side of the truck. Cala jumped in the middle, perched on the center dash, and grinned at Eden. "You'll get used to it," she chimed, running a hand through her silky black hair. "I know I did." As if on cue, Jake nudged the tiny werewolf and she moved onto a more serious question. "So, do you know what we are, Eden?" ~ Basil tried not to look too uncomfortable, so he bit down on the left side of his lip like he always did when he was nervous. "They followed me," he said quietly. "I didn't notice them because I was so... so..." he trailed off for a moment, lost for words. "Well, turns out they decided to video tape my little hunger episode, and now it's all over the news." His voice changed into a sharp, cruel tone. "Monster attacks girl in ally way; police looking for vampire-wanna-be."

( D8 I was just about to replyyy! ) Cautiously, Eden got into the truck as well, smiling weakly at Cala's joke. Now, she felt uncomfortable all over again. Her parents had taught her not to get into a stranger's car, and now she was doing exactly that. Then again, she should feel okay; she was a werewolf now, well over a formidable opponent to a human. Unless they were armed, of course... Eden snapped out of her thoughts. "I, uh..." Her brow furrowed, and she looked from Cala to Jake, from Jake to Cala, settling on Cala's eyes. "I don't know. What are you two?" She didn't want to make a wrong guess and either be embarr*censored*ed or found out. Or both. ~ Again, Sinclair nodded. He was still idly thumbing through the pages of the book he'd found, taking sneak peeks, but really thinking about how to respond. "That's too bad," he said absentmindedly, and shut his book, looking at Basil now. "Are you young?" he asked, ex pression changing suddenly from utterly serious to concerned. He could understand if he was young. But, if he wasn't... Well, he'd have to cross that bridge when he came to it.

Basil snorted rudely, which was rare for him, and crossed his arms over his chest. "I don't suppose you can tell, can you?" he snapped, eyes narrowed into slits. The truth was that Basil wasn't sure if he was young; he couldn't remember anything at all, except waking up one day, being a vampire. And he was good at it, so he had to as sume that he wasn't just turned. Exhaling through his nose, he let his temper settle. His eyes were guarded, though. "How old are you, exactly?" he countered, trying to avoid having to answer. ~ "Same thing as you are, silly!" Cala chriped, eyes wide and comical. "Children of the Moon. Hunters of the Night. Poorly portrayed in the novel Twilight..." She blinked, scrunching up her nose when she saw that Eden wasn't about to suggest what she was thinking. "Werewolves, silly. We wanted to talk to you about joining out Pack!" Although Jake shot Cala a sharp, threatening look, she ignored it. "I'm not Alpha, of course, and I haven't quite told him about you either, but I'm sure everything will work out. He has a soft spot for me. I can persuade him easily to let you join~"

"I'm as old as time," Sinclair said, giving Basil a salty look. Did he not realize they were in a library, or was he waiting until they were harshly shushed? "I see that you're trying to avoid the subject. Uncomfortable with giving out your age? I don't blame you..." He turned his gaze down, watching the ground calmly, as if he were waiting for something, and waiting patiently. "After all, I am a stranger to you. I suppose your parents taught you well. Stranger danger and all that, that stuff's good to know." Yes. He was making fun of him. ~ Eden's jaw dropped. "No wonder you both smelled of dog," she said, awe written all over her face and painted all over her tongue. "That's amazing. I...I never thought I'd meet another." She worked her hands about, twisting them over each other, clasping them together and tightening them around each other. It was something she did when she was excited, rather than jumping around like a child. "Joining your pack?" Eden repeated, excitement shining in her eyes now. "Well... Well, I'd love to! It would make me feel a lot less like a disguised sore thumb, it really would." She always felt so out of place with normal people... That would really change now, right?

"I'd give you my age if I knew it," Basil said with a slight hiss in his voice. "And I don't know if my parents taught me stranger-danger; I don't know them. I don't even know if I have parents." Pinching the bridge of his nose with two fingers, he sighed, letting all of his annoyance fade away; it wasn't Sinclair he was annoyed with. ~ "Alright," Cala said, taking her turn to nudge somebody; her bony elbow dug into Jake's ribs as she ordered him to take them to the Pack's meeting place. Her smile was of genuine relief, and now that she didn't have to keep up an act, she leaned against Jake as the engine revved. "Where'd you come from, Eden?" she asked, raising one eyebrow. "I'm from Kenya; my family moved here when I was very small. Not sure why, though. Never really got to talk to them, seeing as they died when I was eight." She didn't seem hostile or bitter about her past, and was almost glad she could get it off her chest. Jake didn't say anything, but she knew he would be mad that she hadn't shared this information sooner. "I live with some nice folk on Alder Street. Elderly couple, though. 'Fraid they won't be around much longer, which means I'll have to move soon." Blinking her dark chocolate eyes a few times, she realized she had been rambling. "Yeah. So. Where are you from, Eden?"

Sinclair looked at him, green eyes flashing in the light that p*censored*ed over them. "Oh, yeah...?" he said, head tilting slightly as he watched Basil pinch the bridge of his nose. Maybe he'd be less irritable now. "And you don't remember anything? Not a single thing?" He figured that with a few memories, they could figure out around how old he was. Why he was interested in finding out Basil's age... He didn't know. Perhaps it was because their situation was like something you would find in a book. Then again, vampires overall were like something you would find in a book. ~ "Ah, well," Eden rubbed a hand into her hair, smoothing it out a little. "My father was Spanish. Straight from Spain. I don't know about my mom; she died when she was born, and my dad didn't like to talk about her," she told Cala, and then gave her a small smile. "You're from Kenya?" she asked, curiosity glittering in his eyes. "That's really interesting." Even so, she decided not to press further; if she'd moved away when she was very young, she probably couldn't remember anything about it. Instead, Eden turned her attention to Jake. "Where's he from?"

{ Sorry I was busy yesterday; It was my birthday and I had plans. XD } Basil shrugged, tilting his head up to look at Sinclair with cautious hazel eyes. "Not a thing," he replied smoothly, taking his hand away from his face. "I just woke up three months ago with not a clue how I got there or who I was. Figured out my name by looking at the mail sprawled out on the table. It's a bit concerning, really." Blinking at Sinclair a few times, it finally registered in his mind that he hadn't been attacked, or even threatened, by this vampire yet; a new record. ~ "Jake?" Cala chimed, "Oh, he's not from around here. His dad worked with a bunch of people researching animals that live in the artic. He had to move when he was bitten, though; didn't want his dad to figure out that he wasn't human anymore. His mom was already suspicious." Jake only bobbed his head to confirm this, which made his hair fall in front of his eyes. "Most of the Pack isn't from around here," she continued, twirling her curly hair around one finger. "Only David is, which is why he's Alpha. Marcus came from Shanghai, or something."

( HOMG. D8 I didn't even knoww. ;n; Happy belated birthdayyy. ) Sinclair cocked his head. "If you found your name that way, can't you find out everything else in a similar way?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He paused then, noticing that some people were starting to wander towards his corner of the library. "Let's... Let's get out of here. Somewhere ehere a wandering ear can't catch on," he said in a low murmur, head bent down and towards Basil. ~ Eden blinked. She felt a bit plain; everyone else seemed so interesting. "Oh..." was all she could say, and glanced out the window of the truck. "So, um. What about this David guy?" she said, turning back to Cala and raising a brow. Asking more questions would keep the conversation going, so that's what she did. Besides, they were pretty interesting, and she wanted to catch up on everyone else's story so she wouldn't feel dumb or slow.

{ It's fine. o3o And thanks. XD } Basil pressed his lips together, forming a thin line. "Alright," he said with a small sigh. "How about we head somewhere quiet, then? My house?" He was only slightly disappointed; he'd been hoping to take out a book or two before leaving, but that didn't seem to be the case anymore. ~ "David," Cala repeated, eyes alight as Jake pulled up to the side of the road, stopping in the middle of nowhere. "Well, he's... David. A bit rough on the outside, but he's a big softie if you bat your eyelashes the right way." Jake hopped out of the driver's side of the truck, and she motioned for Eden to exit as well. "He means well, but can get nasty. Just let me handle it; oh, and we have a little bit of a hike ahead of us, so I hope you're wearing comfortable shoes."

Sinclair nodded in agreement. "Your house, then," he said, ducking his head and shuffling his feet for a moment. Suddenly, he was off, turning on his heel and strolling towards the front of the library, the entrance and exit. He'd wait for him at front, if Basil decided to take a moment before following him. Besides, he didn't know where the other's house was. ~ Eden listened as Cala spoke, then bent her head down slightly to take a look at her shoes. Well, they were cheap and quite comfortable at the moment, so she'd probably be fine. She proceeded to hop out as well, landing on the ground with a soft, barely audible thud before she hurried to take a place at Cala's side. Best to walk next to the friendliest person. "I should be fine," Eden told her with a small smile. "Besides, I like hiking."

Basil only hesitated a moment to gaze longingly at the shelves before hurrying after Sinclair. With a smile that didn't reach his eyes, he signalled for them to take their leave. He knew where his house was, guided by a feeling in his gut. The feeling was familiar; it was almost like a twisted sort of dejavu. It felt like he'd been here before, but he wasn't quite sure when. "Small gray house," he said absentmindedly to Sinclair, "It's on Alder Street, I think. Next to an elderly couple." ~ Even though Jake had disappeared, Cala seemed to know where she was going. She walked without looking where, facing Eden the entire time. She knew these woods better than she knew herself, on two feet or four paws. Mud started to cake on her flat-bottom running shoes, but she ignored it. "I think that's a werewolf thing," she prattled, talking as if the only purpose was to keep the conversation alive. "I don't know one werewolf who doesn't like hiking; I enjoy it thoroughly, as does Jake."

Sinclair's eyes flickered over to look at Basil momentarily, and he nodded. He knew the streets of this town, although he didn't have many friends in it. He only knew the streets because he had the tendency to walk a lot during the late hours, mostly because he didn't like being bothered during the day. Sure, he was kind to his neighbors and such, but he kept to himself. He needed to, or someone might find out about his secret. Vampires led such lonely lives... Oh, well. ~ Giggling softly, Eden gave a slight nodded, keeping her smile. "I'd think so," she said, pushing her brown-black hair back and away from her face. They were pretty much just giant wolves, so, of course, they'd like nature. "So..." Eden began, looking around the forest, and glanced down at her feet. They were already dirty. "Exactly how many werewolves are there around here?" she asked quietly, as if a human were around to hear them.

It wasn't long until they reached Basil's street, for he didn't live too far away from the library. He hated the smell of the old town; it reeked of cigars, booze, wet dog, and vomit. "Why does it always smell like wet dog here?" he asked Sinclair, hoping he'd have an answer. "I see nobody that owns any pets. Though, mind you, I do see many alcoholics here. How queer." ~ "Including you?" Cala murmured, eyes distant. "Five. There used to be more, but one day-" Her voice cracked, a lump forming in her throat, so she stopped speaking. Pricking her ears, she listened to something in the distance. "Now far now," she whispered, eyes back on Eden. "I know the forest seems dirty, but our hideout is quite the opposite."

Sinclair shrugged. He definitely didn't have a clue. Sure, there was a stray cat or dog every-so-often, but that disappeared as suddenly as it came. "Maybe it's the wild animals around here?" he said in a questioning tone. "There's a thick forest around the town, that's probably it." Yes, that was probably it. What else could it be? Lately, he hadn't really been taking note of the scents in the town; he'd gotten used to them. ~ One day? That piqued the other werewolf's interest. One day what? Obviously, Cala had trouble with the story. The crack of her voice and the look in her eyes read, "Something terrible happened." Eden shut her mouth, and nodded her reply before saying, "Actually, I hadn't even noticed the forest much." with a small laugh. Muddy forests weren't unusual.

"Mmm," Was all Basil had to say on the matter, pulling out a housekey from his back pocket. He walked up the front steps with silent feet, shoving the key in the lock. He gave it a twist, then pushed the door open, entering without hesitation. This house, no matter how empty, felt like a safe haven. "Come in," he called behind him, as if suddenly aware that Sinclair was still with him. ~ Cala stopped walking, eyes staring past Eden at something concealed behind a wall of bushes and evergreen trees. With a few cautious steps forwards, she reached out and pushed the branches aside, revealing a small blue house with a dark gray roof, boarded up windows, and two young men sprawled out on the front porch asleep. "Here we are," she piped up at last. "This is where all the action happens."

Sinclair accepted the short response, nodding back to the other and waiting behind him as he opened his door. As soon as Basil granted him entrance, Sinclair stepped inside the other vampire's home, his eyes quickly moving over the area before they settled on Basil once again. "So, Basil," Sinclair said, hands pushing into his pockets to touch a small pack. He'd found a four-leafed clover once, so he sealed it up to preserve it. He always had the clover with him. "how did you end up here?" ~ Eden smiled at the sight of a little blue house. It was cute, very quaint, in some way. At least, to her. However, the boarded up windows pulled some of the house's attractiveness away. The two men on the porch drew her interest, of course, and she eyed them for a moment before looking back over to Cala. "It's cute," she told her. "I like it."
