Zallion stared after him and smiled, murmuring, "Thanks Fang." He turned to Ignition and walked over to her with a more cheerful face and a lighter heart. Akari nodded truthfully. "Oh, yes!" she said as she knocked him down playfully as he did. They rolled a little before halting. Akari jumped off him, and with a laugh, ran around, wanting Fang to follow her. |

Lunari was curled up on the hard ground. His teeth chewed on a dead antelope. It had been a carcas.s from yesterday, nothing much really. One bite out of it made him wrinkle his nose and want to run away from the carcas.s. Zhaine pas.sed by. Zhaine just took one look at Lunari and snorted in disgust. "Rot muncher," she spat. "Go hunt for yourself and let the crows pick them clean!" She narrowed her eyes dangerously. "Go!" Lunari sighed. Do this, do that, he thought. I never get some say with Zhaine. He stood up and walked away. When he was a far enough distance to say anything, Lunari muttered under his breath,"She's more annoying than snobby Pridelanders."

Zhaine stiffened. "They are there!" she spat angrily. "Those turnfurs, scoundrels, and hyena-faces!" She clawed at the ground under her. You knew there was the possibility it might happen, a part of Zhaine whispered. Well, I should've known that no good son would do it! "Tell the other Outlanders to meet me here. I want to show them they cannot walk away without feeling the rage of Zhaine," she ordered, feeling her own rage consume her.

Zallion chuckled. He was about to give an answer when she spotted another lioness, probably as old as Ignition. "Who's that?" he asked in a low voice. Kiara was startled. She looked at Kalia keenly with her dark eyes. She could see a lot of herself in her. Memories came flooding back. She could hear the confused cries of the lionesses and herself when they learned that one of her cubs were lost. She could remember them setting out to find her, and returning without luck. The other cubs, she recalled, were still at Pride Rock. They had given up hope after that, and Kiara was left more depressed and shaken than she ever had been. Presently, a smile spread across her face. With tears in her eyes, she stepped forward and nuzzled her daughter and said, "Oh, Kalia, you don't know how much we missed you, your father and I." |
