Whitefrost walked over to Blackpaw.
"Patience is a very imporant virtue," Whitefrost said sternly. "I was in the warrior's den, watching your behaviour." he shook his head. "and I've observed you're not very patient. So, we will do some hunting training today. Hopefully you'll learn to wait and leap at the right time."
he stood beside his apprentice, seeming very tall compared to Blackpaw. "we'll be leaving really soon, so be sure you're ready. Remember, no prey from the fresh-kill pile until we get back," he said warningly.

Blackpaw smiled. " I've been ready, Winterfrost!" he said, in a playful way. His tail swayed.He looked up to his mentor. " And, it was an accident! That stupid rabbit was just a smidge away from my claws, and its death!" Blackpaw smiled.

"There's some burdock root in there too. All crushed," Paleleaf didn't uncurl from her position in the pile of moss, and paused. After a moment, she whipped up in a swift movement and planted herself in front of Wingpaw. "Don't fool around. Do you know how terrible it would be if we had this many herbs-" she gestured to the poorly packed nooks as a result of the mess, "-and we had an attack ravaged on the clan? Do you know how much infection would spread and kill, and how we wouldn't be able to treat things? Throw those things out and pick some more. Stay to the closest areas- I heard there's a patrol being sent out, so if some deranged twoleg comes out of nowhere trying to catch you, at least someone will hear your screams." After that, the medicine cat plopped herself down in front of a nook and began sorting again, as if she had forgotten her apprentice was even there. For a moment, guilt pas-sed over her, until she reminded herself that it was her way of teaching, and that Wingpaw would have to be prepared for the worst of situations.

Wingpaw nodded. Paleleaf was her mentor, so she was used to her small outbursts and 'what would happen if's and such.
"I'm going, and when I come back, I'll re-sort the herbs." she grabbed the rotten ones and bowed out of the den backwards.
Once she was out, she turned around and dug a hole to put the rotten herbs in at dirt-place. She placed them in and covered it nicely. She paused, and after making dirt, she padded out of camp to pick some herbs.
"Marigold: grows near the wall reinforced by brambles on the left side of camp," she murmured to herself before darting over to the place they normally got the marigold.
After she had picked a decent amount, she headed over to the stream, where the burdock plant grew.
As Paleleaf had taught her, she selected the oldest, largest ones, and left the newer and younger ones to grow. She made sure to use only her jaws, for she didn't want to taste the disgusting burdock root and marigold.
Later, as she was heading back to camp with all the herbs in her jaws, she sniffed the air, and smelled a faint scent of badger.
Any cat other than her would have only smelled the stink of the herbs in their jaws, but Wingpaw had a keen sense of smell, better than most cats.
She hurried back, and bowing to Paleleaf, she reported, "I smelled badger as I was heading back to camp, near the clearing, the one near the stream where the burdock root grows. Should I tell a warrior?" as she spoke, she was placing the herbs in their designated spots, and re-organizing the other herbs.

"Well, 'mist it by a hair-length' does not feed hungry cats," Whitefrost said, walking out of camp, "and after we hunt, we're going to collect moss for the warriors."
((Sorry, that was his original name until I remembered the warrior cats called 'winter' 'leaf-bare'. Why I added the collecting moss thing was because in roleplays, people seem to forget that apprentices do this task every day.))

Blackpaw rolled his eyes. " All-right.." he said. Once they got there. A sudden movement caught his attention. He looked closely. It was a weasel." Score!" he whispered loudly to himself. He started to wander off from Whitefrost's babbling. He closed in on it, and tackled it, he fought with the rodent. Blackpaw won. He happily pranced over to Whitefrost. " Will that feed the cats?" he said, in a smart-alek way.

"First of all: I don't believe we eat weasels, but good catch anyways. Second of all: that was luck. You didn't use the element of surprise as you should have. If you had just waited and pounced on it, it would have died without any struggle." Whitefrost said, "plus, we aren't even hunting here. We're just going over to the stream. That's where we'll hunt." he looked at the weasel, then nodded.
"Bury it, and then we'll go. Properly," he warned.

"See Wingpaw, it's good you got the herbs. If we have a badger attack before sunhigh, at least we'd be prepared, right?" Paleleaf allowed a small smile to slip before her face quickly turned to that of seriousness. "Tell Icehawk, he should still be in the camp." As she turned to help her apprentice with the herbs, she paused, and then added, "It's a good thing you're gifted with the nose, Wingpaw."

Wingpaw smiled with pride as Paleleaf praised her. She then quickly went off to do her task.
"Icehawk!" Wingpaw called. "I smelled baadger so I told Paleleaf and asked her if I should tell any of the warriors and she told me to tell you so here I am telling you."
Wingpaw said it in one long sentence with no spaces, so she took a quick breath. "you heard that all, right?" |

He was quite surprised when the Clan's medicine cat's apprentice had verbally attacked him. "Calm down, Wingpaw, calm down..." Icehawk said, trying to sooth her. "What did you say? There was a badger scented?" He asked her. "Then we'll take action immediately. Even if it may be an old scent." The white tom sighed. --- Coalpaw got up immediately, wondering where Lionheart was. "Whitefrost had already come for Blackpaw... So where's Lionheart?" Coalpaw wondered out loud in a mildly distraught voice. He padded swiftly through the camp, poking his nose swiftly into the medicine cat's den and quickly pulling it out. "Lionheart, Lionheart?" Coalpaw called, then spotted the familiar golden pelt near the warrior's den. "Lionheart!" Coalpaw mewed in relief, running up to his mentor. "I'm sorry, Lionheart! I was waiting for you by the apprentice's den, and then you never came and I thought something bad happened to you!" The black tom seemed to be mentally punishing himself for his lateness already. [[Full shall appoint a deputy. Since nobody's stepping up to become leader, Icehawk shall become Icestar soon and pick out a deputy ._. ]]

Lionheart's eyes were wide, still not facing Coalpaw. He hopped down from the tree. " Oh, Coalpaw, I'm so sorry. I thought I was told that you were coming by another cat!" he apologized. Lionheart shook off the shock. " Anyways, today, I'm letting you choose where you want to hunt today, since, I made a mistake." he said, chuckling at the last part. Blackpaw rolled his eyes. " Jealous..." he whispered to himself as he followed the white tom. ((Fail))

Whitefrost heard Blackpaw's comment, for he was in hunting mode, which was very quiet and required listening very carefully.
"Jealous, of you? I believe you were the kit who bothered me about telling you how I killed a badger with a some help from Thunderbird?" (is that okay?) he commented quietly, staring at Blackpaw.
He kept walking, and he stopped suddenly. "We're here," he announced. "now, catch some prey, preferably birds."

Blackpaw chuckled. " Okay, sorry." he whispered. He smirked at his mentor. He stayed low in the gr*censored*. A larger bird was unaware, and was just wandering around.Blackpaw got within poking point, and pounced on it, quickly killing it with one slash and a bite. He looked over at Whitefrost. Memories flashed back, showing when Blackpaw was a kit, only stumbling around, as he watched Whitefrost. He remembered how sad he was when he couldn't keep up with the other warriors, and how his mother would comfort him and carry him as she strode through the field of gold. Blackpaw smiled. He went back to Whitefrost, simply setting the large bird down in front of him, and continuing to get more. ((Do it as much as you like!)) ((Hi, Tyreek!))
