Asteri sat there and lay in Dimitri's lap, trying to stay calm, she closed her eyes. The only thing she could imagine was his face, saving her from the place that had created the monster she now was. What was wrong with her? Yes, he was like her, but he had even said he didnt think there was one for him. She had only met him a few hours ago. The thoughts of him calmed her though, and she was able to steady her breathing. She nudged her head closer in towards him, just the feeling of another person was comforting. The doctors had been so cold, and she was scared even now. Hopefully he could help her to be normal again. At least as normal as she could possibly be.

Hiding a small chuckle at her concentration, he could remember his own happy place. The first christmas he could remember wit hisfamily His fathr had comehome fo once nd the were stting in a small livng room, surouned by sall christmas decorations and cheery smiles. Opening his eyes, he repeated the words. "Now, use that thought to ignore the ghosts, dont let them bother you. When they do just think of this place and put up a barrier between you and thme. It wont work at first, but keep trying it and soon they will relize they cannot get to you so they leave." He told her softly. He was surprised that he let her get so close to him, but something about her was calming.

Asteri looked up at him, and gave a half smile. "Amazing how it keeps your mind off of things.. just imaging someon.. some place." She cut herself off from saying someone, she couldnt give any hint to the feeling he gave to her, it was so strange. She had not known him so long, but he was helping her. even if things didnt go any farther, She at least needed him in this way. He understood. Without realizing it, she just stayed on his lap, though it was so much less awkward then anyone might expect. It was comfortable and felt natural. If nothing else, a very beautiful friendship would form out of this. "Thank you." she whispered.

A bit surprised at her last words, he wondered who she was talking about when she said 'someone', even if she did not finish the word. Curious, he figured it was either her parents / brother, sister or the boyfriend she mentioned earlier. 'Who was the person' was going to bug him for a bit. "Dont thank me, it's what a friend does." He told her, a crooked smile on his face.

"Well you apparently know alot more about that than I do. I'll figure out someway to pay you back." She smiled up at him, and tried to calm her nerves. She breathed more evenly now, her nerves were still shaking a bit, but he had helped incredibly. She could hear nothing for now, either he had helped her to really tune them out, or they were being quiet for just a few moments. She was thankful for the silence. Asteri slowly got up. "Would you like some coffee or something?" She gave another sweet smile, standing in the doorway now.

Nodding, he moved to lay a bit more comfortably on the bed. "Coffee would be great, thanks." Closing his eyes, he waited only a few seconds before Faythe appeared, an annoyed look on her face. You know that the whole 'happy place' does not really stop the ghosts. She growled. He shrugged. "I know, but she needs to gain confedence before she can truly battle the ghosts from her mind. It'll help for a bit." He muttered.

Asteri walked into the kitchen, making two cups of coffee, and returning to Dimitri's bedroom. "Here you go." And handed him the coffee gently. "Why do they come to us? I have talked to many, and they know we cannot help them." She shifted her fingers around the coffee cup, she had never really had any kind of answer appear to her for her own questions. Asteri's eyes glittered while she looked at Dimitri, almost as if a lost puppy waiting for someone to take them in. Only now, she had a place to stay, and all she really needed was answers.

Thanking her then taking a small sip of the warm drink, he tried to think of what he would, or could say. In truth, he did not know all the answers and often times wondered about them himself. He could sympathise with her in that retrospect. "I dont know all the answers, but i'v heard that they come to us because they cannot find peace. We...er..look diffrent to them." He added lamley, not sure how to go about this. "Shine with a diffrent light, a pure light I guess you could say that draws them to us seeking help." He chuckled bitterly. "That probably did not help at all, just know that we're not the same as other humans and they know that, they sense it. Does not mean it's a good thing." He muttered darkly. You shine with a silver light, and she shines with a white light. Bad ghosts, violent ones are attracted to her because she's more pure, thus the white. Normal human shine with a dull grey almost black look. The shines are their aurora. He blinked at Faythe in surprise. "Your pure at heart, thats why the bad ghosts are attracted to you." He told her, still looking at Faythe. ((I hope thats not considered controling your character, calling her pure hearted like that. I could not think of a better expination ^^. If it is just tell me and i'll change it.))

((Oh no, it completely describes her.)) Asteri took a small sip of her coffee. "That makes more sense now. Thank you for helping me, I dont know how many more times I will thank you, probably a million times, but it's because you're a blessing to me Dimitri." She sat in the corner, looking up at him while she sipped on her coffee. A dark spirit had taken a seat beside her as well. Well well. Looks like my Asteri doll face here has met another freak. Gotta love that. The dark spirit made his way to stand in front of Dimitri. I'm Bruce. Try not to make her too skilled eh? I like havin such a pretty face to talk to. Bruce gave a chuckle, and Asteri seemed to be trying to ignore him. "This one keeps reappearing. He seems to think I enjoy having him around or something." She fluttered her hands, this one didnt scare her like the others. He just lingered around her too much.

Scowling slightly at the dark spirit, he took another drink from the cup in his hands then met the ghosts eyes. "I will train her as much as is needed until you and your kind leave her be, or she says enough." He told the ghost sternly, a bit surprised at Asteri's words of Bruce. Not many spirits seemed to stick around, Faythe was the only one he knew of really. Guess I learn something new everyday. Having Asteri around will prove to be interesting, and an eye opener. "I'll teach you how to somewhat block dead people," he snapped, flicking his dark eyes towards the ghost then back to the girl, "from bother you to much, like he seems to be doing." Ignoring Faythe's cackle from the corner, he continued. "Would you be so kind to leave." He asked, tone demanding.

If I am truly unwanted, I shall return later for my lovely. The ghost smiled at Asteri, and gave a bow, exiting the room. Asteri looked up at him. "He has a tendancy to leave when you ask him to, and return at the worst times." She seemed to mentally be brushing off her shoulder, composing herself on the inside as she sipped on the coffee. "So you will truly teach me?" She gave a very small smile, and stood, shaking her hair out of her face. She sighed as she glanced over at Dimitri. He was different, she could feel it. He had already proven to be a wonderful person, and she could not see how she could possible be more pure of heart than he was.

He snorted as the ghost left, grumbling about unwanted guests. "Of course i'll teach you. Im not about to sent you to the streets and have to deal with the spirits alone." He grinned tentivley. "But if you ever want to leave I wont stop you." He added. He looked out the window as a couple walked by pushing a baby cariagge, a ghost child wailing behind them wanting attention. It was times like those that he wished to help. "I forgot to ask you earlier. Do you have any family that you would like to call?"

"Family.. oh, no. I want to do this on my own, and I have no idea where they are." She gave a faint smile, and sat back down. Checkmate crawled in the slightly open door, and into Asteri's lap. "I dont believe I'll want to leave any time soon. As long as I'm welcome. Things feel normal here." She stroked the top of the ferret's head, and her thoughts returned to the dream of her mother, the face that she hadnt known, it was like a monster coming through her dreams to haunt her. This wasnt like dream people, this was almost real. Like a spirit more evil than all the rest, trying to reach out to her. She had the feeling of being watched.

Flicking his eyes to look at Checkmate, he wondered what he had been up to till now. He sighed and leaned back on the pillows of the bed, thinking about her words, and other things that had been said. He hated rash decisions on anything and training someone not to be haunted by ghosts was one of the 'how to' decisions he needed to think on. He closed his eyes to think and was mildly surprised by it. Naormally he could not relax around people, not able to take his eyes off of them because he did not know if they were who they said. But being around Asteri felt normal, almost right. Mentally berating himself, he told himself to think. "Your welcome as long as you'd like to stay. I dont mind your company."

Asteri gave a small smile as her cup became empty. A few moments had p*censored*ed. "I enjoy your company very much Dimitri, not only because you help me." She stood, it had become dark, and she was becoming tired again. She wouldnt bother to say goodnight, so she walked into the kitchen, placing her coffee cup in the sink, rinsing it, and walking into her room. She lay awake, staring out of the window, Checkmate on her lap. He made a few noises, but Asteri didnt stir. She was caught up in thoughts of the man that was making her feel completely different.. and in less than a day.

Wondering what she was talking about, he decided it was to much of a pain to think about. Collapsing with a sigh, he ran through a check list of what needed to be done soon. Probably going to the store would be a good idea. Now that there's two of us. Somehow that thought was comforting, more so then he figured it would be. Normally someone being so close to him would be uncomfortable and downright annoying. Bu this was diffrent, and rather odd. Mentally cursing himself, he rolled over and forced such thoughts out of his head. Faythe snicker from a corer made him once more question his sanity.

Asteri sighed, and plopped her head on her pillow, and allowed Checkmate to curl up beside her neck, right beneath her chin. She fell quickly to sleep, and into another dream. Much to her dismay.
What is this place? I have seen it before. There are cherry blossoms, all over this empty field. Oh.. I remember, this is the Beyond. This is another dream. Asteri thought to herself, looking around, and realizing it was a dream, as she sometimes did every now and then. She sat under a tree, and she saw a single crow, going from one tree to the next, sucking the souls from the trees. Yes, souls. These trees held the sweet and innocent souls of those that have p*censored*ed. This crow was taking them. Never to be returned. Asteri stood, and walked slowly to the tree the crow had been to last, and touched the bark, mourning the soul. The crow was sitting on her shoulder now, whispering evil nothings into her ear. "You are next, beautiful."

Faythe sighed in bordom as her brother finally drifted off, really wondering why she stuck around. The light was always thre, calling for her to join her parents and the realm of the dead. But she could not stand the thought of leaving her brother alone to deal with everything. Humming a low tune her mother had taught her when they were young she floated through the door to Asteri room, shivering slightly at the odd sensation, and stopping beside her. Looking down, she wondered why this girl was diffrent. They had met a few others like them, but her brother seemed to be a little more atuned with her. Normally he throw them a annoyed look and continue on, not regretting the thought that he could have sent somone to their death. What are you to make him change? She muttered, placing one hand on her forehead. Suddenly a chilling voice rang through her head, making her stumble, or stumble as much as a ghost could. She knew that with the ghost territory came other odd abilities, such as seeing into dreams sometimes. But this was odd, or maybe it was just the words. Your next, beautiful. Suddenly she wished Asteri could see or hear her. Wake up! She yelled, wondering if perhaps she could hear her. Somehow Faythe doubted it.

Asteri shifted, and woke up in a sweat. She could see Faythe's aura.. but not actually Faythe. And somehow.. just somehow, she could hear her. Not as clearly as the evil, but she could understand what she was saying. "Uhh.. rmm. .. whuuhh?" She had a low mumble, groggily asking Faythe what was going on, in her sleepy-headedness. She glanced around the room, and the crow was still haunting her brain.. just as an image. She could still imagine the bird perched upon her shoulder, and singing in her ear. "Yeahh?" It hadnt clicked in her head that she had heard a ghost that was not evil.

Faythe huffed as the girl woke up, finally. Well, perhaps she can hear me, miricales. Snorting, she knew that a full sentence would probably not go over to well, or well at all. If the girl could only clearly hear evil spirits, which I am not, then she would have to get Dimitri to translate what she said. Yes, but I dont fell like him cursing me out...again. Sighing, she shrugged her shoulder hard enought that her aura would show it. Suddenly a knock on the door made her cringe. "Asteri? Have you seen Faythe?" Her brother asked, in a slightly worried tone. Glad to know he still cares. She thought sarcastically.
