"Of course. I think we'll set out soon, when everyone's good and ready," Riker told her. He used to the time to conjure up a red orb, in which struck him back in the face. But.. how was this possible? His power couldn't hurt him! His face stung like nothing ever before. He heard a thump far off in the woods and wondered what the heck it was. "D.... Did you hear that?" he asked Akime. He could be going insane, after all. (It's actually a side effect from getting hit from his own powers. It's like... this thing I've got in my mind. So she shouldn't have heard it.. )

"Hear what?" Akime asked. She had watched him get hit in the face with the orb. "Are you alright, Riker?" She asked, and she continued talking before she gave him a chance to answer. "Maybe you're sick, or something. Maybe you should stay behind with Farook." She whimpered. She hoped he was okay, and was already worried.

"No, no, I'm totally fine," Riker said, lying through his teeth. His face still stung. The thumps got louder, like giant drums pounding against his ears. It got closer, and closer... Before they pounded like a sledgehammer against his skull. It tortured him. His head hurt, and it was the worst headache anybody would imagine. Could this even be classified as a headache? It sure felt like... erm, something to him instead of that 'tiny bothersome pain in your head.'
"I think I have a headache," the Beta said numbly.

"Okay," She said, concerned. "You should go get Veseya. She has something to numb pain, I believe." Akime said."I hope it gets better, Riker." She smiled slightly, not happy at all but worried, but she was simply trying to comfort him. "...And I'm sorry...about causing this whole problem with Nightingale and trying to kill Amalia. I did it because I love you, and I knew...and still know...that it's hopeless."

"It's... It's not hopeless," Riker said. The thumping left at that instant. If only he knew what was to come. "I love you," he finally said. "And Amalia, too..." Riker added as quietly as he could. He wanted to choose. His mind knew he had to. But his heart said that it loved both. ARGHHH.
"Maybe... Maybe I should go see Veseya. Where is she?" Riker asked.

Amalia shook her head, "Nope, I'm coming. I started this mess and I'm seeing it through to fix it." She said and sighed. Dusk would know what to do, but of course, she wasn't here anymore. What had the world come to that her fellow wolves were dying. She snarled inside her head and padded up to her brother. "Are you coming?" She wondered, worried for him from the wounds he had. "I think you better stay back and care for the other wolves." Ari dipped his head in agreement and limped back to camp...
