Storm blushed a little through his dark silver fur at the praise. "Well, let's start out with a hunt. I'll go bring back a rabbit and i'll watch you hunt it."

Shadow held back a small giggle at her brother, the look in his eyes showing that he appreciated the praise. She then heard the word hunt and looked up at the female, head tilted to the side questioningly.

In just a few minutes, Storm and Shadow were out in the meadow stalking a fat grey rabbit. Maple sat atop the boulder, coaching them from above. "Tail down, Storm, you don't want it to alert your prey. Lighter pawsteps Shadow," she called out.

Shadow was brushing the ground with her belly fur with how close to the ground she was crouched and did as instructed when told to step lighter. She then began to place her feet a bit less heavily and made sure not to make too much noise with each step. She moved her eyes to glance at her brother before looking back ahead at their target. 'You will be ours.'

Dropping his tail down under the cover of the long grass, Storm smiled at the familiar look of determination and cunning on his sister's face. Flicking his tail to signal his sister, he leapt out of the grass, landing flat on top of the rabbit and pinning it down with his stomach. Craning his neck, he cleanly slit the throat, dragging the carcass back to Maple. "Good work, little ones," she purred, licking the top of his head. Looking back at Shadow, Storm shrugged apologetically. "Sorry. I was in the perfect position."

Shadow wasn't angry, she was to busy flying through the air towards the rabbit to even notice her brother had already ended its life. She landed claws first right as she noticed the rabbit was already dead, got off of it, and sighed, 'I missed my chance. I need to do better next time.' "It's fine, Storm. You got to the rabbit first.", She replied as she trotted over to him, trying to wipe of her bloody claws as she went.

Nuzzling his sister so as to comfort her, Storm sighed and let out a little whimper. He missed their mother more than he would let on. Dragging the rabbit into the cave, Maple tore the carcass into three pieces, one for each, and began to eat. "This isn't your whole meal, don't worry. We'll eat with the pack later, but I thought you must have been starving." Nodding, Storm gorged on his piece.

Shadow carefully walked after Maple after her brother had nuzzled her, she couldn't let herself become saddened by the display. Upon being given a piece of of the rabbit she began to scarf down the meat.

Finishing the leg in seconds, Storm tossed his head and went outside, an uneasy feeling growing in his stomach. The sky was grey and overcast where just seconds ago it had been blue, and a brisk wind rustled the leaves, as if nervous. Growling softly at him to tell him to come inside, Maple edged towards him, trying to pick up the pup by the scruff of his neck. Baring his teeth and snarling, Storm only had an instant to register the change in Maple before it was almost too late. Her hackles raised, and she leapt towards him, crashing to the dust only centimeter from where he was, running as fast as he could away from the beast that was Maple. Branches tore into his pelt as he ran through the forest, and he stopped as he got to the top of a grassy hill to look behind him for Maple. She came in a few seconds, and behind her.. Behind her was a swirling black spiral, seeming to follow Maple. But she looked genuinely terrified of it. Worried, Storm stood his ground. As Maple saw him, her ex
pression changed to one of triumph and she sprang at him. The exhausted pup could only watch as she sailed towards him when the storm seemed to hit. It swung Maple up into it's midst and Storm soon after, tossing them around like rag dolls. An eternity later, it deposited Storm on the ground in an unknown part of the woods, and there the battered pup lay, bruised and broken. Maple was nowhere to be seen, and the pup desperately whimpered "Shadow?" But there was no reply, the forest was eerily silent. He lay there until the night set in, cold and cruel and dark.

Shadow finished soon after her brother and watched him as he walked outside. Hearing a growl the pup's hackles raised and she backed farther into the den, wondering what was going on. The air felt tense and suddenly Maple 'flew' through the air towards Storm. Utter surprise rushed over Shadow like a wave as she backed even farther into the den for what safety she could find without going out under the stormy sky. Curling into a ball she waited out the storm, fearing what was happening between her brother and their guardian.
Darkness settled in a bit after the storm and Shadow still laid alone in the den. Knowing she had to do something the black pup uncurled and stood. 'I don't know if I should get help from someone in the pack or not.', the thought arose and was countered by, 'They would only slow me down. Why would they care about my brother anyways?' Carefully her little paws carried her out of the den to search for her brother.

Sore and tired, Storm rolled onto his stomach. The night had been cold but uneventful, and he had finally gotten to sleep in the early hours of the dawn. Now, though, it seemed about Highsun (noon) and the harsh sun beat down relentlessly. Stumbling to his paws to find shade, Storm bit back a whimper as he put pressure on his left hind paw, collapsing to the ground. Rising up again, he managed to limp into the shade of a destroyed willow tree and hid under it's still leafy broken boughs. Sitting on his haunches, he turned to lick his wounded leg. A large gash ran through his thigh, not doubt a wound from a flying rock, and as he licked it the scab loosened in one part, letting a stream of blood trickle down his matted silver fur.

(I was going to put more into my other post, but I had to leave for school and by the time I got back home I was too busy.)
Shadow had been searching for hours on end, never noticing the sun had risen half way into the sky. The surrounding trees were unfamiliar to the little pup as she called out for her brother, hoping that each time she called her ears were getting closer to picking up the sound of a reply.
By the time Highsun had come around Shadow was still wandering in search of her brother. Worry ate away at her hope in finding him and yet empowered her to keep looking and calling out.
(I would put more, but my mind just hit a dead end.)

Pricking his ears up at a rustle in the bushes, Storm relaxed after a rabbit hopped out and began to nibble some grass. Setting his head on his paws, he let out a mournful howl, before dozing back off. He awoke some time later as the sun was barely descending past the trees. The sky was a fiery orange, and streaks of purple shot through vividly. Storm sat up and stretched. His leg had scabbed over again, and didn't hurt quite as much, so he stumbled to his feet. taking a few cautious steps, he found he could walk carefully without hurting himself, and was pacing slowly back and forth when he heard a rustle in the bushes. With a menacing growl Maple sprang from the bushes leafy protection and aimed straight for the tiny pup in front of her. Missing by a mere centimeter as her jaws snapped shut in Storm's face. Scrambling to her feet the she-wolf snarled...
Shadow, hearing nothing of the up-starting commotion, was still wandering the forest, eyes droopy from lack of sleep.

Leaping back, Storm struggled to regain his footing, before turning and bolting away. He could hear her jaws snap shut angrily, and ran for his life through the dappled forest. The afternoon sun cast golden light over the woods, bathing everything in a dreamlike glow. Storm kept running, finally looking back in mid stride to see if Maple's pursuit had continued. Glancing back ahead, he crashed into a furry being he hadn't noticed before. Leaping back to growl at the figure, he lunged forward before being hit with a wave on familiar scent. "Shadow!" he exclaimed.

As she was walking over to a large oak tree, Shadow was rammed into by a fluffy torpedo and yelped out of fear as she fell to the ground. Seeing this display of aggression the pup prepared to take part in a fight, getting to her feet and snarling. Then she realized that this mangled pup had the same scent as her brother and yipped happily, tail wagging and tongue lolling from her jaws. "Storm! What happened?", she seemed to be worried and yet excited as she looked behind her brother for anything he could have been running from.

"I ran. Then this big wave of wind hit me... Picked me up. I think I was knocked unconscious for a while, and woke up a few hours ago. I missed you" he said, nuzzling his sister and licking her dark fur.

Shadow listened intently and then piped up," At least your safe now. I was worried." She smiled a little puppy smile and nuzzled his shoulder in return. "Should we try finding our way back?"
