"Alright, so no meat for you. I apologize for not thinking of that sooner. I probably should've asked. Maybe we should go straight to the cake and ice cream. How does that sound?" She grinned bashfully, rubbing the back of her neck. So that was something to remember. No animal flesh for Heavenly beings. Big nono.

''I... that's ok. I'm not really hungry anymore...'' He replied awkwardly, staring down at the table, fiddling with ihs fingers in his lap. He wasn't hungry, but he was tired and sleepy, and wanted rest. He didn't say this, just looked down at the floor, because he didn't want to come across as rude. He couldn't help but give a small yawn, though, and he hoped she wouldn't mind that.

Allie giggled, rubbing her eyes. The yawn she gave was just a chain reaction, but once it was out, she was suddenly exhausted. "Yeah, I definitely agree. I'm feeling ready for bed myself. You know, you're lucky my nephews visit often enough that I have a spare bedroom and pajamas in your size. I'm thinking that you've had enough adventure for one night."
With a very maternal authority Allison led Lakeya to the spare room, which was done in a softer version of the warm hues filling the rest of the house. She pulled pajama pants in a soft rusty red cotton, laying them on the bed before turning to face her unorthodox visitor. "Well, here you are, Lakeya. The bathroom across the hall, and if you need anything my room is right here on your left. Don't hesitate to come to me. I may not know a lot about angels, but I do know about young boys. Think you'll be okay? If not just say so. I won't be mad."

Lakeya followed Allison, wondering why she was so tired all of a sudden. Maybe him yawning made her tired, but he doubted that. He wondered what her nephews were like, and if they were his age, or older. Maybe they were younger. Whichever it was, if they were anything like Allison, he decided he wanted to meet them. ''I'll be ok.'' He said, a faint, hesitant smile on his lips. ''And... angels aren't so different from people...'' He said, before realizing that they were, in fact, much different. He knew that humans ate meat, they drove in cars for unknown reasons, they didn't have wings, and he wasn't sure, but he doubted they could talk to animals. If they did, they wouldn't really eat animals, would they? He went and sat on the bed anyway, to prove he'd be ok.

Allie resisted the urge to kiss his forehead, as she did with Michael, Conrad, and Alexander, settling for running her fingertips through his hair. There was a kind ofglow about her, showing how happy she was just to havesomeone to care for. It had been odd for her to be away from home, where she did so much to ensure the happiness of her big, loud, cheerful family. Living alone certainly had its advantages, but it had also taken some getting used to. With a sigh and a smile she left the room, making her way next door to her own room, where the walls were a rich brick red, and the furniture was deep forest green, decorated with embroidered flowers and vines in a burnished bronze. She flopped down onto the bed, rising only long enough to slide into cream cotton pajamas, then slipping under the covers. Well, this certainly had been an interesting evening. But time for sleepy sleep.

Lakeya pulled on the pyjamas, before slipping under the covers and falling asleep almost instantly. After a rather pleasant dream of flying and dogs, things took a turn for the worse. Lakeya was stroking a black labrador when everything went black. He blinked, and when he opened his eyes, he was there. In the place where every angel was banned from entering. The Demonic Cavern. He walked forward, albeit unwillingly, yet he couldn't stop himself. He walked deeper, and heard a noise. Looking to his left, he wanted desperately to close his eyes, for he knew what he'd find. He couldn't, though. He saw it then. A little girl, black hair, green eyes. That was the moment he broke the biggest rule of all. He spoke to a demon. All he did was mumble a small 'hello', but it was enough. The demons childish appearance disipated, and a monster grew from it. It was now ten feet tall, black skinned, with glowing red eyes. It kept the vague figure of a human, but spines and tendrils slithered around its figure like snakes. Its mouth elongated, into something resembling a crocodiles, with hundreds of foot long, razer sharp teeth, and it opened it wide and snapped at Lakeya. Lakeya screamed, a scream so loud, shrill, and harsh, that if anyone were to be standing within a few feet of him, they would have been literally deafened. As it was, it would have left ringing in the ears of anyone else who were within a hundred feet. Glass shattered everywhere, and the scream lasted for about ten seconds before he realized what he was doing and shut it off. He pulled his legs up to his chest, and rested his chin on his knees, his violet eyes streaking tears down his face as he stared forwards.

The scream was more than enough to awaken Allison, who'd been sleeping rather fitfully anyway. The years she'd spent housing abandoned and abused pets had sharpened her instints, plus baby-sitting for the boys during their baby years. All things considered, the two seconds approximate it took her to rush into Lakeya's room were far to long by her reckoning.
Immediately she went into She-Wolf mode, curling herself defensively around the boy, mindful of his damaged wings even in her state of semi-panic. "Hush now, hush now. It's alright. Shhhh. I'm here. You're safe. I'm here. I have you." Their tentative aquaintance forgotten, Allie held the boy close, giving him as much comfort and reassurance as she knew how with body language, tone, and general closeness. Of course a young fallen angel would have night terrors. Internally Allie beat herself senseless for letting him sleep alone, maintaining a constant flow of soft nothings whispered into Lakeya's hair, cradling his head againt her chest.

Lakeya kept staring forward, didn't even notice her walk into the room, barely noticed as she pulled him into an embrace and began speaking softly to him. He pulled himself out of his trance, and shook and trembled in her arms. He hugged her back, wrapping his arms around her neck and trying to sit as close to her as he could. It was all just a dream, he was safe now, Allison was here and she'd make everything ok for him again. Tears still streaking down his cheeks, he looked up at her and decided. Plucking up the courage to ask was the hardest part. Lips trembling, his voice followed suit, but he said it loudly enough that she could hear, if only just. ''Allison,'' He mumbled, pausing for a moment before continuing, ''Can I sleep with you tonight?'' After saying that, he put his head back down and tried to sleep again, hoping she'd say yes. He wanted so badly for her to say yes, even though he thought she probably wouldn't.

The request cme a bit of a shock to Allison. From her small exeprience, he seemed like the kind of boy who would be too afraid of chastisement to ask for anything that hadn't already been offered. That in mind, Allison had been trying to think of a way to gently insist he sleep with her anyway. Had Lakeya taken a second longer, she surely would have demanded it.
As it was she nodded, wiping the tears from Lakeya's cheek. "Of course you can. In fact I insist. I'll keep the bad dreams away for you." Without further fuss she lifted Lakeya easily into her arms, speeping him out of the lonesome room and depositing him on her big, comfy bed. After sliding in beside him she pulled up the covers, and began singing an old blues song her father had sung to her at night. Her voice found a low, caressing alto, and drifted lazily over the familioar notes of Bye Bye Blackbird.
Through this she said a few prayers, though definitely not to the God that had cast this sweet child from above. Rather she prayed to the Moon, silent and fervent, calling upon that loving entity to wrap its soft, tender beams around the child, begging the strength to be his defender. The rush wa almost instant, and the moonloght trickling through her window seemed to grow brighter, suffusing Allison with a sense of power and comfort. Her prayer had been answered.

Lakeya snuggled in as close to her as he dared when she slid in beside him. As she sang the old, strange song, he began drifting off into sleep, his curious mind still ticking away anyway. These humans were a strange bunch. The only music he had where he came from was plainchant, with very little dynamics or rhythm. Sure the voices were angelic and beautiful, but not as nice as what Allison was singing. His mind finally went blank, his tired eyes finally shut, just as she finished. He felt a sort of comfort through his dreams after about a minute, but put that down to Allison being with him. After a few moments of blankness, his dreams began. This time, though, they weren't night terrors or memories. They were what he imagined the human children lived like, happiness and no worries that if you broke the rules you'd be sent to a strange place where people would try to hurt you; No head-angel drilling into you about how you must put all life before your own; And no one telling him that if he so much as thought an evil thought, his wings would fall off. No, he dreamed of dogs, of being a bird, of flying over high chasms, of riding aback a wild horse... [[Feel free to time skip if you want. ^_^]]

That night Allison dreamt of her own childhood, raised in a house that worshipped the Old Gods in a world where such things were thought cultish and evil. She'd been taught from a young age the role of a high priestess, matriarch of her faith. And so her dreams were sweet, filled with the aroma of incense, the glow of the full moon, and the taste of sweet wine.
When she awoke a white cat was curled between them, purring softly. Allison smiled automatically, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. "Good morning Artemis." The cat smiled at her with big gold eyes, then lept from the bed. Giggling at her pet's mercurial moods she turned to the sleeping angel, sighing. "And good morning to you as well, Little Bird."

Lakeya woke when Allison spoke something to him. He wasn't sure what she'd said, something to do with birds. Yawning, he stretched, and sat up, looking at her with a faint smile on his face. He loved mornings, the gentle coolness that always appeared around this time, and the sound of the birds. He had woken up earlier, at dawn, but had gone back to sleep when the Morning Chorus he was so used to didn't arrive as nicely and as lodly as he was used to. ''Good morning, Allison.'' He knew she had told him to call her Allie, but he had been taught to call his elders by their full names, not nicknames. Sliding out from under the blanket, he stood at the side of the bed, before walking over to the window and looking out at the streets before him. He wasn't used to streets.

She watched him quietly, rising from the bed with a bit of regret. It was just so comfy, but alas, the day had to begin. Of course, it was Saturday, thus her day off. Lucky, that, so she wouldn't have to leave Lakeya here, or worse, bring him in and have to explain everything. Instead she could spend the next two days getting him used to Earth, and accustomed to life among humankind. "It's lovely, isn't it?"

''Uh... I guess...'' Lakeya said, not really agreeing. He liked green fields and meadows, tall, ancient oaks, brambles and twisted ivy. Not concrete and tarmac, the only trees being metal lamp posts or the occasional bare-leafed tiny thing. He missed his blue skys and soft fluffy clouds, not these grey, dull lifeless skies. He guessed he would have to make do, though, and get used to it. He was sure that there were some places among the human world where things still looked as they did where he came from.

"You should get a tour of my city. I think I have just the place for you. Better get the two of us dressed first, of course. But I want you to see that not everything about Earth is as bad as it's made out to be. We have many beautiful things." Allison moved back the the boys' room, pulling out a simple t-shirt and jeans combo for the little angel. "With your wings bound they won't make too much of a scene, but..." She pulled a jacket out of the closet, and threw it on the bed next to the other clothing. "Just to be sure."

Lakeya followed Allison into the other room, and picked up the clothes from the bed holding them in his arms. His head tilted slightly, he thought for a moment before asking her what was on his mind. ''What does my wings bound mean?'' He asked, thinking it was another human thing. How strange all these different human customs were. He liked the thought of seeing something beautiful, though.

"Bound, like wrapped up tight. Like right now, how they're wrapped in bandages. They can't move, so they're bound." She hoped that she'd given a good enough eplanation, and went to her room to change. For today she wore her favorite pink skinny jeans, black t-shirt and gray Chuck Taylors, pulling her hair into a pony tail before going to check on Lakeya.
