The soul eater left, planning to bide its time, waiting...waiting for the cold one to let down his guard.
Ryu continued to sing, the song growing sad as he sang about the lost of ones he cared about. Those he had loved for all these years.

She turned over in her sleep relieving a cramp in her wing and silently continued to dream about how they died in hopes of discovering something.

Ryu finally stopped singing and went to check on Kaylee. He stood looking down at her, a small sad smile on his face. His eyes also showed the deep sadness he was feeling, though he did not know why he felt so sad.

As her and Ryu's deaths played over and over in her head without providing any information on who killed them she grew more and more irritated making her scowl while she dreamed. She wouldn't give up searching but she was beginning to doubt she would ever find her answer.

Feeling warmth touch her made her squirm to find more and made her cling to the warm ob
ject next to her. Once she embraced the warmth her face seemed to relax a bit, but then she refocused on her search in her memories.

The soothing heat coming from the body behind her gave her comfort and turned her dreams from a melancholy perspective to a somewhat lighter atmosphere. Even with the change in the scenery, she still was no closer to finding out what had happened. Her dreams shifted back to the library in the past when she discovered that she was part siren and it made her curious about whether she still had that ability or not.

Ryu stared up at the ceiling not sure what else to do. He ended up singing once more, in a quiet voice. He sang of the spring rain that gave life to all. Of the moon when it came out to play as the sun went to bed. He sang of the wind as it blew through the trees and the fields. Of children playing and men working. Of women chatting as they cooked and mended. Of soldiers going of to war and later returning home.

Hearing music that was not coming from her dream startled her awake, she did not move in fear of scaring whomever was next to her. Whoever it was made her comfortable none the less. After a few minutes her curiosity got the better of her and she turned over only to press her head into the chest of her sleeping partner. She looked up a little bit to see Ryu looking up at the ceiling singing softly.

Ryu didn't notice, too deep into his singing. The song getting darker as he sang of war, death and destruction. Of strife, famine, and plague. All the things people once had to deal with in great amounts.

Kaylee couldnt help but become mesmerized by his song, all she could do was lay there and watch him sing softly as the mood got darker with his song. Feeling uneasy with how the song was going made her snuggle closer to Ryu and drape on of her arms on his stomach.

His song quieted and finally stopped, his head leaning against the wall. His eyes were closed as sleep finally took over. Her presence and touch, pulled him out of whatever mood had possessed him to sing. His breathing was slow, and made not a sound.

Feeling his body relax as he drifted to sleep lulled her to sleep and she hoped that her dreams would be calm and peaceful with the reassurance of someone being beside her. Her dreams did not persist her, in fact all she did was wander in a black void of dreamless sleep.

Ryu woke with a start sensing that something was off. He kept his eyes closed, trying to sense with his being, what might be amiss. -What...are you?- He thought, sensing someone, but not sure who are what it was.

Kaylee slept on relying on her shadows to alert her of anything dangerous. She felt Daisuke and Kay in their rooms, unease dripping off of both of them, and Ryu tensing and becoming paranoid about something unusual. Their behavior wasn't dangerous to wake her up fully but just enough for her to stay aware.

Ryu got up and slowly left the room, his mind darting everywhere within the castle. He followed the sense of whatever was there, down into the catacombs below the castle. He forced his body and mind to relax in order to try to follow his instincts even better.
Kay kept squirming in his sleep, moaning out to Ryu. "D-don't go there...Y-you'll get killed." But no matter how hard he tried to wake, he was unable.
The same went for Daisuke, at least the sleep part. It was like a spell was on him, preventing him from waking.

She felt Kay and Daisuke begin to panic and how Ryu was trying to calm himself and it worried her. She tried to wake herself but found that she couldn't escape from her empty dream. Struggling harder she tried everything she could but only ended up irritated and scared, not enough to release her shadows but slowly escalating.

Ryu, even with all his abilities and talents, didn't sense the presence just behind him. He stiffened and gave a silent cry of pain as he felt something stab him through the back and out his chest. He dropped to his knees with a gasp. "W-wha?" He turned his head to see who was there, but didn't see anything. His mind started to go haywire and the air around him grew colder and colder. His eyes seeming to turn to ice, the white highlights in his hair turning to an ice blue. He let out a scream and the whole catacombs froze over, as if it were an antarctic cave. The thing he could not see before, was now visible, encased in ice. It looked like a human praying mantis. Ryu tried to make sense of it before collapsing unconscious, due to the amount of magic energy he had used, and the blood loss.

Hearing Ryu's scream jerked her awake and into her shadow form, she flung herself out of her bed and ran as fast as she could to where she felt Ryu last. She flew down stairways and dashed through the corridors in the catacombs until she slipped on ice that covered the entire room. "What the hell happened in here?" she rasped before setting her eyes on Ryu's prone form slowly bleeding out. Without thinking she ran over, ripped a piece of tapestry off and tied it around his wound to stop the bleeding as best she could and lifted him up just enough to support his head on her lap. Knowing that she wouldn't be able to drag him upstairs she telepathically told Daisuke and Kay to come down and help her.
