"Yes Darkleaf," Wingpaw nodded submissively and grabbed the mouse bile, then headed over to Wirepelt. She handled the mouse bile expertly, and pressed it againsy Wirepelt's fur with her paws.
When she was finished, she stood up. "Better?" she asked, putting the mouse bile away.
----

Cricketcomet turned away, but looked back at Yellowkit. The thing looked oddly familiar... the look of it's face, the colour of it's eyes...
She sighed, and decided to think about it later. For now, she wanted to go to sleep.
She lay down to sleep, and she was in the world of dreams.
Cricketcomet woke up. Or, at least, it felt like she'd woken up. She stood upand turned towards the entrance, when she saw a figure, a figure she did not recognize.
"State your business, stranger," she snarled, hissing. The stranger laughed. "Dear member of MountainClan, I am an ancestor. My name is Crowsong, and I've come here to give you a message." Cricketcomet blinked. Surely it was some joke. Then, she realized, she was no longer in the den, but on top of a mountain, in a beautiful glade, and there were hudreds of starry cats around her. They all spoke to her, in one voice.
"Beware the one with golden claws, for she will shed more than just blood."
"Why choose me?"
"You were more than just a rogue when you were on your own. You were-"
Hundreds of screaming cats, all around her, Cricketcomet screeched with them, trying to find escape. There! It was an exit, filled with radiant light. Cricketcomet headed towards the exit, but it sealed, just as she put her paw against it. She let out a roaring scream, and....
And she woke up, panting. What the fox....

"Cricketcomet! Wake up!" Ashflight meowed urgently, prodding the warrior's side anxiously. Her shoulder was scratched and bloody. "Are you alright? You were kicking in your sleep, and you caught my shoulder."

---

"I feel so relieved," Wirepelt meowed gratefully, the sun was rising already, and she hadn't slept at all. "How is Yellowkit?"

---

"You can be finished with your vigil now, Orangescorch," Gladestar meowed, licking the new warrior's shoulder proudly. "Have some fresh kill if you're hungry, then get some rest. If you're up for it, I can have you on the evening patrol."

"That sounds good, can my brother come too?" Orangescorch asked, "I don't want to leave him out, just because he's not a warrior. Maybe I could inspire him!"

"I don't think so, Orangescorch. Maybe, if you're not too tired, you can ask Cricketcomet if you can take him training though. It's up to you," Gladestar meowed.

"Okay, maybe later then" Orangescorch said with a shrug, trotting over to the pile and taking a peice of fresh kill.

"Oh, yeah... I'm fine. I just had a rough nightmare," Cricketcomet said, a little shakily. "I'm going to get something to eat. Want to share a piece of fresh-kill?" Her thoughts, however, were not on fresh-kill. Should I tell Gladestar? Or maybe Darkleaf? Why didn't they get the prophecy? Unless it isn't a prophesy at all, and I should get my head checked.
----

"Oh, Yellowkit's doing good," Wingpaw smiled. "she's coughing less, and that's a definite sign she should get better. Now we just need to ask Goldstream if she'll take her in. Goldstream is a queen, and she has four kits. They were stirring up trouble just a few minutes ago, but my mentor, Darkleaf put them right." Wingpaw chuckled, at ease with this stranger, because of her easy-going and friendly personality.
----

Blackheart sat beside Orangescorch. "Good vigil, warrior," he said heartily, nudging him.

"Sounds good, maybe it'll clear your mind a bit, heh?" Ashflight purred, nudging Cricketcomet and then heading out to the pile. Orangescorch was eating like a wolf, and Ashflight couldn't help but chuckle.

---

"That's good," Wirepelt sighed with relief, "I'm so glad to have brought her, she would have died at our camp. You're lucky to have the knowledge you do."

"This rabbit looks good," Cricketcomet said, dragging it out of the pile. Cricketcomet sat down and began ravenously eating her share.
----

"S'not too hard, curing Greencough," Wingpaw admitted. "a warrior could do it, with the knowledge."

Wirepelt snorted, "Well, kits and warriors alike have been dying of this 'greencough' in Crimsonclan, almost everyday. But the numbers can handle it, I suppose. Though it's difficult seeing friends and even family die, and that's before all of the little squabbles they get in with MountainClan. My own mate actually died in one of them... Cobrafang, did you know him? I doubt it, if you were born here, but..."

---

"Good choice!" Ashflight purred, eating her own share at a slower pace, "Minnowfoot caught this yesterday when he and I went hunting. He's my brother."

Wingpaw's heart lurched. Cobrafang? That was the name of the tom Blackheart had killed... "No, didn't know him. I wonder if he was a rogue before he joined CrimsonClan?"
----

"Didn't know that," Cricketcomet said, up for a little chat. "Is there many family ties in the clan?" she asked, after taking another bite of rabbit.

"Not really," Ashflight admitted, "Kits aren't born as often, and it's difficult to block out the cold leaf-bares, so many of us are just single. Darkleaf used to have a brother, but the fool ran off to be a kittypet, rumor says. Gladestar is older than most cats, except Angeltouch, who is my mother. She's in the elder's den now. Flareblink was the only of his littler to survive apprenticehood. Not that it was dangerous or anything, but they were young and stupid, and went out to the gorge in the rain. A badger attacked them and... well, Flareblink still has some scars," Ashflight babbled, "Do you have any family? Old friends? Heck, you're old enough to have kits, I'd think, but you still have a nice figure, so that's out, unless you're a health nut."

---

"Yeah, he was," Wirepelt meowed, purring at the memories, "He was pretty hurt when he came to us. Not physically, but emotionally. He didn't like to talk to anyone else about it, and I wouldn't dream of telling another cat half of what he revealed," she said, her eyes shining, she sighed, "even now."

"I am NOT a health nut," Cricketcomet said, slightly annoyed, her sharp-tongue resurfacing. "I actually had a mate, named Sache, then he joined CrimsonClan, and I-I never saw him again. We had two kits, and he took them with him, and his reason, I spoke to him once after he joined CrimsonClan, was that I didn't have any milk, which was true, but still," Cricketcomet's eyes glistened with hatred. "but you know what? I think that kit- the kit that was sent here from CrimsonClan with that warrior- is mine. The little thing looks so much like him."
---

"Maybe- just maybe- he went to StarClan?" Wingpaw suggested timidly. "if he had a good soul, and good intentions, then surely he would've went there."

"Maybe you should go and visit her then? Just to be sure. I wouldn't get my hopes up, were I you, however. It could just be a coincidence," Ashflight advised.

---

"Ha! I doubt that," Wirepelt said, "Cobrafang had this nasty attitude, and he was always following his own rules, not Crimsonclan's. He even dared to bring kits when he arrived, two of them! if I remember correctly, this Yellowkit was one of them, but I don't know. He was always a kit person, he might have been the den mother for how much time he spent in the nursery."

((Ooh plot thicken! 8D I see cat-fights in this roleplay's future.))

"Hm. Wirepelt, do you believe in Starclan?' Wingpaw asked seriously.
---

"Yeah... shouldn't get my hopes up." Cricketcomet sighed. "But, do you think Yellowkit is young enough, that I could still become her mother? If she is my kit, that is." Cricketcomet's eyes glowed.
---

Goldstream licked her three kits, who were piled up by her stomach, when she awoke (she had been asleep still when the kits had got back into the nursery). "C'mon kits," she said lovingly, nudging her precious budles awake. "Let's go outside and play in the sunshine."
Tigerkit went to run out the door, but Goldstream put a paw gently on Tigerkit's tail, so he couldn't run ahead. "But I wanna see-" Pantherkit stepped on Tigerkit's foot, before he accidentally spilled the beans on their little escapade. Goldstream noted this, but made no comment. "Fllow me."
They exited the nursery in single file, like ducks, Pantherkit at the front, Wolfkit at the back. "What's all the chatter about?' Goldstream asked Ashfur, walking up to Cricketcomet and Ashflight.

Ashflight flicked an ear, "The kit in the medicine den brought from Crimsonclan might belong to Cricketcomet. She wants to become her mother, if possible," Ashflight meowed, she flattened her ears for amoment at herself, "Sorry Cricketcomet, I hope you don't mind my telling Goldstream, we don't usually keep secrets in a clan, it didn't occur to me..."

Foxkit tilted her head to the side, "Cricketcomet doesn't smell like a queen," she mewled loudly.

"Don't be rude!" Wolfkit scolded her sister.

"I can be rude all I want to!" Foxkit argued, flicking her tail with superiority.

---

Wirepelt thought for a moment and then shrugged, "I don't know. It's logical for there to be something else out there, but I just can't imagine it being real. That's a tough question."

Goldstream glared at her kit. "No, you cannot be rude. If you are rude, you will never become a warrior," she said sternly.
Cricketcomet's ear twitched, but she didn't talk back to Foxkit. "Do you think I should go see the kit?" Cricketcomet turned to Ashflight. "Or should I wait? i hear the kit has greencough- I don't want to catch it, even though it's such a mild cough."
---

Wingpaw didn't press on Wirepelt to believe, as she had just got here, but she wanted to save this cat desperately from walking in the Dark Forest, or perhaps walking aimlessly, as it is said kittypets and loners's spirits do.
"Why didn't you leave before?" Wingpaw asked instead. "And why bring Yellowkit?"

"Blackheart became a warrior," Foxkit meowed, proud of herself for remembering the cold warrior, "I want to be justlike him some day, because he's the coolest warrior in the world!" she meowed, nearly falling backwards with enthusiasm.

Wolfkit rolled her eyes. "You're so weird Foxkit. Everyone knows that Gladestar is the best warrior, else she wouldn't be the leader."

"I don't think so," Ashflight answered, "If you caught it, you might spread it to everyone else. Maybe you could ask Darkleaf or Wingpaw to bring you some of the kit's fur, so that you might pick up the scent and recognize it."

---

Wirepelt's ears flattened with discomfort, "Crimsonstar would have killed me, and Yellowkit would have gone into training right away if she had healed at all, or died because our medicine cat ran off."
