For once, Ashflight woke up at a decent time. She let out a yawn and trotted out into the clearing, careful not to tread on any cats tail. The sun was warm against her fur, contrary to the season. The branches overhead were mostly bare of their leaves.

Darkleaf yawned. He was still tired from the night before. He couldn't stop thinking about Applepaw, and the possibility that she would still be alive. He decided that he would take a warrior or two to the edge of the woods, where the twoleg place began. Catmint grew there, so even if he didn't find any clues about the lost apprentice, he could gather the vital herb in case of plague.

Gladestar! I choose youuuuu!!!)) 

Angeltouch purred at the other elder. "Don't be so sour Dripnose;" she croaked, "If Pippen doesn't hold her own, I'm sure Gladestar will chase her away without hesitation." The ancient cat lowered her voice. "I just don't know Dripnose;" she said, "I have a feeling."

((Gladestar raised her imaginary eyebrows at Angeltouch, "Do you have to tinkle again?"

Angeltouch snarled bitterly, "No!" she nearly yowled. There was a moment of silence. "Well, maybe." ))

Ashflight nodded and smiled sweetly. She stretched one more time. She shot a glare at Blackpaw. "You're mentor's sick, so I'm in charge," she said harshly. She didn't like the apprentice at all for more than one reason. The first being that the apprentice was renowned for acting superior to she-cats, despite their age, and the second being that he had been the reason that her sister might not be a warrior for another moon.

"Hey, could I go too?" Orangepaw asked, bouncing out of the apprentice's den, full of energy. "It'd be a learning experience!" he prompted, his tail flicking eagerly.

Fatepaw was still curled up in his next. His eyes were wide. He hadn't slept much last night. The fox stained his memory, and it gave him nightmares; terrible ones. He was sure that Thunderbrd felt the same-- he hadn't remained unnoticed as he left the warrior's den to visit Sageburn last night. Fatepaw had been wide awake, his heart pounding in memory of all the blood... and how Blackpaw had just stared. Fatepaw couldn't tell whether he was amazed, or amused, or maybe terrified. None of the thoughts appealed to Fatepaw.

One a brighter note: Gladestar takes some light damage, countering the tail zap with a heavy shadow ball attack!))

"Have some sympathy!" Ashflight demanded to the sarcastic apprentice, "If you shut up and acted like a warrior for ten seconds, then maybe you'd actually graduate instead of constantly being held back with the others."

Orangepaw's tail swished anxiously at the arguement. Ashflight, Orangepaw knew, would inevitabley snap sometime soon. He was glad now that Winterfrost declined him.

Darkleaf's eye cracked open, and a soft purr sounded. He had slept nicely. "Thunderbird, you may go, but no hunting or patrols today," he ordered.

Blackpaw shut his mouth with a snap. It's who I am, you foxbrain!! He thought angrily to himself, forcing his fur to go down flat. Blackpaw sighed and bowed his head in submission. He couldn't say sorry, because he'd probably do it again, so he stayed silent.
To vent out his anger, Blackpaw glared at Orangepaw as if he wished he would all of a sudden have a great bodily injury by his stare.

Thunderbird purred, thanked the medicine cat, then headed outside. She spotted Blackpaw on the other sid of the clearing, and went as far away as possible from the apprentice.

"Okay, we can go now, since you two have finishd your arguement." Winterfrost's tone was final, and he glared at Blackpaw. "Let's head out. Ashflight, you lead, I'll be at the back, and Blackpaw beside me." He wanted to stay beside Blackpaw to keep him from attempting to tear Ashflight apart.
((Thunderbird uses tackle, then places a bubble shield around herself!))

Orangepaw growled and unsheathed his claws. He was no longer intimidated by Blackpaw, he was furious. There aren't even words to describe his rage! What kind of cat would give a glare so harsh to a cat half his age? Pure hatred! And Orangepaw ha done nothing to deserve it at all! He was distracted as Fatepaw bounded up to him, free of yesterday's worries.

"Hi Orangepaw!" he said, bouncing to a halt.

"Not now!" Orangepaw snapped, his hackles rising.

Fatepaw's ears went flat, and he frowned. "What's the matter?"

Orangepaw lightened up a bit and sighed. "I'm sorry Fatepaw, my temper got the better of me."

"But why are you angry?" Fatepaw asked, more confused than frightened now.

"I'll explain it some other time," he said, subtly flicking an ear in Blackpaw's direction.

"Oh! Wait a minute!" Darkleaf called, suddenly remembering last night's dream. "I actually would like you to escort me to the apple tree by the twoleg place, if you don't mind."

"Catmint grows near there, and I don't want to go alone because of the twolegs," Darkleaf answered. Then it hit him. Was Applepaw, perhaps, taken by twolegs? How would he ever find the lost apprentice?

"Yes Winterfrost," Ashflight replied. She jumped to start the journey out of camp, but stopped. "Hey, can we take Pippen with us?" she asked excitedly, "It's be great for her to learn about clan life!"

"We'll leave and noon, I want to see Sageburn when she wakes up and as.sess her condition," Darkleaf said.

Ashflight flicked her ears in distaste and trotted to the leader's den. She asked Gladestar and she said 'Sure!' so Ashflight went to ge Pippen. She stuck her nose into the den she was sleeping in. "Wake up," she said, trying to be gentle. --FAIL--
