"Oh, I love early mornings!" Said Pippen sarcastically, following Ashflight out to do patrol.
"Ah, Gladestar said yes, I presume?" Winterfrost said, looking at Ashflight and Pippen. "Then, let's head out once again!"

Ashflight ignored Pippen's statement and led the patrol to the border where they had initially met the rogue who happened to be tagging along. "So Pippen, tell us more about yourself," she said, trying to bring a conversation.

Ashflight growled stbbornly, "If you even want to dream about being in a clan, you need to know that clanmates are very close. We don't keep secrets from each other, and we certainly don't snap at senior warriors." Ashflight's ears twitched with irritation. Pippen was probably around the same age as her, but that's not what she was referring to. Ashflight was just better trained is all, obviously.

Pippen sighed, and finally spoke.
"Fine then, I grew up as a kittypet with my mother and my siblings, Chem, Luther, and Posy. We lived a pretty normal kittypet life, until the twolegs took Chem and Luther away, and I found that they were looking for me, too. So I hid. I wasn't exactly sure why they didn't try to take Posy away.
"I had heard tales of kits being taken away and one being kept with the twolegs who own the mother, but I hadn't believed it. At that moment, I realized it was happening. I told Posy what was happening, and we managed to escape through the door when the father twoleg came back.
"Me and Posy lived as rogues for a long time, until we got separted. I got a mate, as I told you, and then he joined the other 'Clan', and then you guys found me."
((I liked writing Pippen's life story. XD))

Ashflight blinked. She hadn't really wanted to know, nor did she honestly care about Pippen's past. She only wanted a discussion about likes, dislikes, food preferances, etc. But, since she had chosen to really open up, Ashflight looked thoughtful. "That's a pretty eventful life," she said, sounding almost envious, "Most clan cats were just born in MountainClan to normal parents, and grew into warriors," she admitted.

"Ah, so you'd just love to be torn away from your family and have to live in the woods without a clue on how to catch prey and defend yourself, hmm?" Pippen spat. Her emotions were running high right now. She was horrified she told her life story to another cat, angry at Ashflight, and scared, and sad remembering her past.
"Calm down, Pippen. Now." Winterfrost said quietly. He didn't want Pippen to do something unexpected or explode at Ashflight.
Pippen took a deep breath and started ripping the ground out with her claws.

"Of course not!" Ashflight wailed, her tail lashing, "I was just trying to look at the bright side, you have a story to tell, whereas for me it was just that I was born and then I lived to be a warrior!" Ashflight was one of the more sensitive cats in the clan, and she was hurt that Pippen had reacted so harshly.

Pippen sheathed her claws and started speaking, her voice slightly icey.
"So, are we allowed to eat the prey we catch on patrols?" she asked.
Winterfrost answered her question quickly.
"Yes, you are allowed to, but when you're on a hunting patrol, all of the kill goes to the fresh-kill pile, not in the hunter's stomach." he looked at Pippen. "Why don't you look for something to eat? We'll wait here for you." he atcually just wanted to @sses Pippen's hunting skills, but he thought the bad-tempered she-cat would take it the wrong way if he told her he was going to @ssess her.
Pippen nodded, then silently went through the trees. After a moment, Winterfrost muttered to Ashflight, "Follow her, but don't let her see you, and come back before she does."

Ashflight shrugged, "Yes Winterfrost," she answered, still a little huffy about Pippen. She took a different route then Pippen, following her from a distance. - F A I L - |

Pippen stalked through the branches. Pippen didn't have very good ears, but her sight and smell was exceedingly good. Instead of sniffing the air to track her prey, she pricked her ears up and stayed quiet. Hunting was the one of the only times she wasn't snapping at someone or some stick for being in her way.
Her ears twitched. She heard a rustle from the bush. She analyzed the sound. It was four fox-lengths away, and was probably a rabbit or a large mouse, judging by how much noise there was.
She creeped towards the noise, and when she felt she was close enough, she pounced, landing on the startled rabbit with a nice 'thud'.
She dug a hole and put the rabbit in, and with barely any sound at all, disappeared into the brush.
((I'm going to twist it from her personality and make it so she's an excellent hunter, but a not very good fighter.))

((Okay then :3)) Ashflight couldn't help but be impressed at Pippen's display, and decided that it would be enough to as.sess her on. She headed back before Pippen got a chance to, and sat and groomed her paws. "She's a good hunter," she said quickly to Winterfrost and Blackpaw, though she was sure that Blackpaw didn't care much. |

Blackpaw was saring into space, when suddenly Ashflight talked to him.
"Oh, what?" he twitched his ears.
Pippen caught a squirrel before she finally went back with her catch.
"Here you go," she said, feeling immensly proud as she put the the squirrel down for the other three. "I don't need it." She began tearing at her rabbit, licking the blood off her claws.

Ashflight ignored Blackpaw and nodded at Pippen. "Thank you," she said quietly, but she didn't eat the squirrel. "We should get to marking the borders now, that way we can get back."

Winterfrost thanked Pippen and ate some of the squirrel, as not to hurt her feelings.
"Yes, we'll mark the northern border, the one that ends at the beginning of the valley territory." he wanted to check that place for two reasons: One, they hadn't been to that border for a while, and two: He wanted to see if he could find any evidence of the 'Clan' Pippen had talked about.
"Oh!" Blackpaw exclaimed, looking at the squirrel. He ate the rest, licked his lips, and said, "Who caught it?"
"I did," Pippen said quietly.
"Oh, well it tasted great!" Blackpaw said, cleaning his whiskers.
Winterfrost stared at Blackpaw, surprised. He had actually complimented somecat without adding a snide remark at the end.

Ashflight blinked away her surprise and purred in amusement at Blackpaw before leading the patrol to the border. She sniffed the ground slightly before reeling back in disgust, "It smells like Crowfood was buried here!" she exclaimed, uncovering some of the dirt with her paw, and in fact, revealing the half-eaten corpse of a rabbit, almost a week old by the looks of it.

"At least they covered it in dirt," Blackpaw said, and Winterfrost sighed.
"Wasting prey given to us by StarClan is not acceptable." He turned to Pippen. "How many can you guess are in the so-called Clan?" he barked at her, causing Pippen to jump. He hadn't meant to be so loud.
"I don't know, may twenty, thirty cats?" Pippen said, flattening a little at the older cat's stare.
"Hmm..." Winterfrost closed his eyes to think.
"But some of them are kittypets that got tossed into the forest," Pippen added.

"Even a kittypet has mild fighting skills. If they have twenty cats, they still outnumber our warriors and apprentices almost two to one. We must report to Gladestar," Ashflight said, her face echoing her worry.

"We must mark the border first," Winterfrost said, and he marked the border, making sure the he'd sprayed the fresh scent so that it would be very strong.
"Now we can go," he announced, straightening up.
