Ashflight nodded and led the patrol back to camp. "Gladestar!" she called. Gladestar bounded swiftly out of her den. "Did the patrol find anything?" she asked hurriedly, "Or did Pippen get away?" "Well, Pippen is here, so she didn't get away," Ashflight meowed, amused at the leader's lack of observation. "Oh, my apologies Pippen," Gladestar said, embaras.sed. "What did you find?" Ashflight turned to Winterfrost to do the explaining.

"We've found Crow-food buried near the north border," Winterfrost began, "we are sure it was left by the group Pippen told us about on her arrival." He nodded to Pippen, who nodded back. "Pippen says that there are twenty-thirty cats in the 'Clan'. This is troubling, as that would mean they have more cats than us."

Gladestar frowned, and started to pace with worry. "This isn't good at all," she mumbled, her eyes fixed on the ground. "Ashflight!" "Yes, Gladestar?" Ashflight responded quickly. "I want you to speed up the training of the apprentices in the area of fighting please, inform the other mentors as well. All cat's should be ready, as by now they've had ample time to know our scent, and soon they might challenge us," Gladestar replied. "Winterfrost, will you inform Darkleaf and Wingpaw of this? They aren't allowed to leave the camp anymore without a warrior escort of at least two cats, for safety."

"Yes Gladestar," Winterfrost dipped his head and slined away to tell the two cats. "Wingpaw, Darkleaf?" Winterfrost meowed as he poked his head in the medicine cat den. "Yes Winterfrost?" Wingpaw asked, looking up from her herb-sorting. "We've got trouble on our north border. Don't go out unless you have an escort of at least two warriors. Tell Darkleaf, will you?" Wingpaw nodded. "Yes Winterfrost. What's the trouble?" "Oh, nothing that is too worrisome," Winterfrost said absently, and he left the den.

Darkleaf entered the warriors den as Winterfrost left, "Is Winterfrost hurt?" Darkleaf asked curiously. "Nevermind, I'm heading out with Thunderbird, can you manage the herbs until I return?"

"No, wait, Darkleaf!" Wingpaw said quickly, in case Darkleaf left. "You need a two-cat escort. That's what Winterfrost was telling me. There's some sort of trouble on the north border, he says." Thunderbird poked her head in. "What?" she asked. "Darkleaf needs another cat to go with him, not just you," Wingpaw explained. "Oh.." Thunderbird said.

"Oh?" Darkleaf said, rolling his eyes, "Well, I'll only be a little while, and Thunderbird is plenty capable," he said with a shrug. He obviously wasn't taking this very seriously. "Stay here and keep quiet, alright? I won't be out long."

Wingpaw sighed, but finally said, "Okay Darkleaf, I won't." "Let's go then?" Thunderbird asked, turning to leave while looking at Darkleaf.

Darkleaf nodded and followed Thunderbird out, swiftly exiting the camp before any cat could notice. He angled his ears backwards to make sure Thunderbird was following, and paused a few times to check her shoulder on the way. When they finally got to the apple tree, Darkleaf sniffed hopefully at the roots for any sign of the apprentice, not really caring if Thunderbird knew what he was doing or not.

"Hmm, I don't see any herbs here," Even though Thunderbird was a warrior, she knew her herbs, as did every other warrior, to make sure they knew basic herb skills. "You sure this is the spot?"

Darkleaf didn't respond right away to Thunderbird, when he caught a scent. It was very stale, at least a week old, but there were twolegs here, and they came often, if their scent was so strong. "Huh?" Darkleaf said; he hadn't been paying much attention. "Oh, yeah, sure," he said numbly, going back to his search. What was Starclan trying to tell him? Then it hit him... was the apprentice taken by twolegs all those moons ago?

((*___*)) Darkleaf sighed in comprehension and flicked his tail moodily. A drip of icy rain spat on his muzzle. "We had better get back to camp, we're in for heavy rain tonight."

((*___* to you too.)) Thunderbird nodded, when a flash of movement caught her eye. She turned around and spoke. "Who are you? Come out so I can see you, cat!" "As you wissh." A silky voice answered, and out from behind a tree came a muscular tom, with a strange ornament around his neck, and a deep, ragged cut in his left ear. Thunderbird was so focused on the tom that she didn't notice when more cats stepped out of the shadows. Her eyes flared in alram, and she went in front of Darkleaf, hissing. "Why being so unnfriendly?" the tom, who Thunderbird believed was 'leader', asked. "You are on our territory!" Thunderbird hissed, her fur ruffled. She leaned closer to Darkleaf, and feared for their lives.

Darkleaf instantly regretted coming, and he hoped that these cats wouldn't be so hostile. Smoothing hisruffled fur, Darkleaf quickly composed himself. He dipped his head graciously at the tom, if not catiously. "I think there is a misunderstanding here," he began carefully, meeting the toms eye. "My name is Darkleaf, and this is my apprentice, Thunderpaw, we are just medicine cats looking for herbs and mean no trouble..." Darkleaf was a good liar. His eyes flicked to Thunderbird, hoping that she wouldn't protest. He realised that she was a bit old to be an apprentice, but if the strange tom said anything, he could just as easily state the lengthy training that a medicine cat must go through, and how 'Thunderpaw' has always been a bit slow to learn. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that. He bit back a hiss of frustration when he remembered Thunderbird's wound. That would be a bit more difficult to explain...

((I'm deciding the leader will be called Crimsonstar, but of course as they're not a regular 'Clan', he doesn't have nine lives.)) "Apprentice, ehh? How old is she, ten-and-five moons?" The tom inspected Thunderbird, or 'Thunderpaw', noting her scars. He inspected her quite thouroughly, as if trying to look at her and find deep information. He leaned quite close to Thunderbird, and she leaned back. His breath smelled of rotten meat, and Thunderbird nearly gagged, but remembered to be respectful to the 'leader', and just tried to stop breathing in through her nose. Finally, the tom pulled away. "Quite old, huh? Apprentices usually become warriors at the age of eight moons. I guesss on the exeption of medicine cat apprentices..." He seemed to be speaking to Darkleaf, but also to himself at the same time. "Anyay, you say this is your territory, hmm? Well, I thinnk not. This place is much more.... frsher then the meadow we make home. Why not let us push our borders a little, teeny bit forward, hmm? If you don't it could get quite nasty, oh yess... Don't leave prisoners, do we?" The tom whisked around and looked at the cats behind and beside him. "You, of CrimsonClan agree, hmm?" Everycat nodded, but Thunderbird heard no voices. Strange.. she thought. Maybe the leader only has permission to speak to cats not of their Clan? Thunderbird examined the tom closely. He was dark mahogany brrown, with even darker stripes, like a tiger's stripes. His neck ornament(necklace) was made out of bird feathers that were put onto something that looked like a vine, but was light brown, and seemed to be made of hairs twisted together(rope). "I am Crimsonstar, noble leader of CrimsonClan," The tom, now Crimsonstar, said. "We have moved here from our original place by twolegplace. Yess, we find thiss place much more hospitable." Thunderbird looked to Darkleaf to talk, since she was to be an apprentice, who did not normally speak to other cats in situations like this.

"It is very nice to meet you Crimsonstar," Darkleaf lied, gritting his teeth slightly. "I'm afraid that Thunderpaw and I are in no place to be discussing territory settlement, being only medicine cats. We have low jurisdiction in our clan. However, I would be glad to head back to our camp and bring back our leader and deputy." Darkleaf was itching with curiosity about the new clan. Did they by any chance have Applepaw as their medicine cat? They said they came from the two-leg place. ((Could I put Applepaw in Crimsonclan? Along with one other cat, who's a bit twitchy and neurotic. :3 ... and another cat, a male to try and balance the gender scale. I shall call him Rocketpaw.))

((Sure, that would boost up the awesomeosity of the roleplay. >:3I guess since I'm Crimsonstar, you can be the deputy of CrimsonClan, Crimson-something. I decided that in CrimsonClan, when you become dpuety, you become a 'Crimson', so the name of the leader will always live on. And BTW, when Crimsonstar talks, I sometimes add an extra s or c or another letter, just so you know he talks kind of like ssnakkeishhhhh in a kind of charming way.))
Crimsonstar nodded, his dark, dark red eyes glimmering in the light. "Veryy well, thenn... Lead us to your camp," he said, and as he moved foreward, the rest of his Clan moved foreward as one to form a group behind their leader, but Crimsonstar put up his tail. "No, only me... no, Blackfang and Snakesting, you shall escort me.. to show we do not mean harm, but to protectt me.. the rest of you, stay herre..." Thunderbird glanced at Darkleaf sideways. She was nervous about leading them to the camp, because then they would know the camp location. "We have to be as twisty and confusing as possible," She whispered to Darkleaf, "so Crimsonstar will not be able to remember the way to our Clan camp."

Darkleaf flicked an ear in awknowledgement to Thunderbird, but pressed on. "Not to be rude, sir, but I'd be more comfortable if you brought only one escort, as Thunderpaw and I are only two." Darkleaf paused and watched Crimsonstar warily. "If not, however, I would rather send my apprentice back to fetch no more than two cats from our clan, one being the leader and the other her escort, and Thunderbird would stay in the camp because of her injury. If more then the amount of cats I have guarenteed come, you are allowed to kill me on the spot." He gazed nervously at Thunderbird. He wanted to express his sincerity to this 'Crimsonstar'. Crimsonface (Yus. :3 Crimsonface) sat calmly and patiently where Crimsonstar had suggested, cool and calm as he contemplated Thunderpaw and Darkleaf. He smiled carefully and unsheathed his claws in a stretch. Wiretail shifted in her seat on the ground near the front of the clan. She could hardly keep still, her fur was crawling with fleas. If only the useless medicine cat in their clan knew how to fix them! She itched behind her ear, nearly drawing blood before forcing herself to sit still again. Applepaw was quiet, her thin tail wrapped around her body. She was near the rear of the crowd. She wondered why they stopped moving, but most of her mind didn't care. She wished that Crimsonstar didn't take his whole clan every place they went. She quietly itched her side. She lied about not knowing a cure for fleas, and now the mangy Crimsonclan cats had given the paraites to her. Stupid karma. Starclan help me!
