Luke grinned. "Well at least I won't ever be afraid of the dark." He said jokingly. He petted Quill, who promptly clambered up his arm and nestled below his chin in the blankets.
(Brain dead, they should do something other than talk, but I can't think of anything.)

Akila laughed at Luke's comment. It was nice to have found a friend to talk to; for Akila, friends were especially hard to find in those days. She maintained her warm smile as she gave her reply.
"I suppose not." she said. "Heck, I'm a bit like a human flashlight." She laughed at the slight joke she had made, and Archah hissed softly.

Luke grinned. Quill moved from his spot under Luke's chin, and scuttled towards Archah, curling up beside the snake.

Akila smiled, happily. She watched as Quill curled up beside Archah, who moved a little so that the ferret could have more room and be more comfortable. It was kind of cute, seeing the ferret and the large snake beside each other. Akila blinked, and looked around.
"Did you just hear something?" she asked. "Or was it just me?"

Luke rose slightly, hand on sword. "A creak and..... A footstep." He lowered his voice, and quiet whispers could be heard.

Akila rose to her feet. She paused; voices could be heard somewhere outside.
"There's people out there. And they don't sound too friendly..." Akila whispered. She shivered. Akila arched her neck and hissed in annoyance; if newcomers had arrived then she wouldn't get a chance for a nap.

Quill nudged the snake with his nose and scampered back to Luke, who briskly packed a bag filled with blankets and extra clothes. "Come on, there's a back door." He said, leading the way to a small wooden hatch. By this time his bag was stuffed, and he'd grabbed to more, also stuffed. One was filled with food and drink, the other half full of weapons, one quarter full of blankets and a quarter full of food and drink.

Akila was nervous, but did her best not to show it. She reached down and let Archah coil back up her arm. The venomous snake kept her neck arched on Akila's right shoulder.
"Who could it be out there?" Akila whispered, trying to be as quiet as she possibly could. Archah tightened her scaly coils and did not hiss; she knew it was important to be quiet right now.

Luke shrugged and whispered. "Monsters? I don't care, we gotta go." He said. He still hadn't shown his ally his injuries, but that could wait.

Akila shivered. She was scared, but she didn't want to show it. Archah tightened her coils and Akila started to move as quietly as she could towards the back door. She couldn't hold it back any more; she had to let some of her fear out.
"Look...I'm scared, ok?" she reluctantly whispered.

Luke turned around, smiling comfortingly. "Look, we're going to be all right, we've just got to get out of here." He offered his hand and Quill crept down it, laying over her shoulders.

Akila managed a smile as her new friend comforted her; it was nice to meet someone so understanding. She giggled quietly as Quill settled on her shoulders, and Archah moved herself to Akila's arm to give the ferret some room.
"Ok then." Akila whispered, with her small smile. "Let's go before whoever it is catches us!"
