[[ So sorry this took so long. :c I dunno why I take forever to respond to these. They're more easier to respond to then any other rp I have. O.O I'll work on being better. >..> -grumble grumble- ]]
I heard the princess's voice, but it seemed faded, far away. The stench from the mud was gone, but the affects of it were only worsening. That was probably why my vision was still blurry, my head buzzing, the princess's scream sounding from another world-
I blinked at hearing her scream, half coming to reality - if that was even possible with the mud. I remember I was on my feet, so I told my mind to tell my feet to run. Instead, the second I took a step, something wrapping around my ankle and made me slip. Landing face first on the ground, blood streaming from my lip, I looked closely at my ankle to see a twig slinking away. It took me a moment to realize the twig was actually moving, bringing fear to my ex
pression before remembering the princess.
I ran, hoping the twigs wouldn't interfere, as I walked blindly around. A silhouette of something huge holding the princess's ankle came to my vision and I stopped, my face paling. Ohh! If I could just see better, I would know what to do.
"Princess, I'm right here."
I said my voice shaking, I swallowed and ran - not caring about the blood from my lip or how I couldn't see much - like I was a drunkard, stumbling and tripping around any pebble in the way. Finally, I remembered - I was easily forgetful lately, with the affects of the mud. - the sword at my side. Unsheathing it, I sliced it through the middle of the large lump that I couldn't make out that was holding the princess. Whatever it was, I knew it wasn't good. We were in the Dark Forest, after all.
[[I have no idea how the monster would react to be cut in half, so I thought you could choose whether it lives or not. |D ]]

Aven screamed again as she tried to shake her foot from the monsters grip.This was it, she was going to die for sure, this monster was going to drag her under the mud to his lair. She'd never see her parents again, her father would be devastated.
But then she heard something, it sounded faint, but she was sure someone had called her. Suddenly she felt the grip on her ankle loosen and there was a loud roar. She blinked, unsure of what was really going on, but it gave her some time to hurry away. The monster roared in pain and seemed to split in half and fall back into the mud.
Her blue eyes widened as she watched the mud monster roll away and slink back into the mud. She looked over at the form standing infront of her and she scrambled to her feet, unsure if it was just another monster tricking her again.
She squinted through the fog and she was sure this time that she was actually a man. Scrambling to her feet, she was hit by a wave of dizziness and she held her head for a moment. Yep, she was definately sure it was a man now. She stepped forward hesitantly and squinted again, finally recognizing the large shape of the knight that had come in with her. "Sir Travis!" she axclaimed relieved rushing over to him and wrapping her arms around him.
Then she realized what she was doing and instantly pulled away and stepped back, blushing furiously. "I'm sorry, I forgot my place." She said, looking down and twisting his fingers. She realized she must of looked as frazzeled as she felt. Mud soaked her dress, it was torn in some places, and of course there was no doubting the blood that was soaked in her hair.
((I guess the monster shall live, but not return because he's a coward XP Yeah, that works.))

The second the mud monster fell, the affects of the mud started to decrease. I guessed he was responsible. I waited a moment, my sword drenched in mud waiting for him to show himself, but he never did.
Instead, I felt small - compared to me - slender arms wrap around my torso. I dropped the sword to the grass by the mud, blinking a couple times as my vision slowly came back to normal, remembrance slowly came to my mind, sanity drove me to reality.
"Do not fret, Princess."
I said, wiping at the blood dripping down my chin as I saw blood matted in her hair. We had to get out of here so I could take care of the wound.
"We were both quite frightened."
I added, my deep voice piercing in the silence of the forest. There was still a dark fog, a suffocating evil, but at least the affects of the mud were wearing off. I cleaned off my sword once the princess was off of my torso before sheathing it back in place at my side.
"Follow me."
I whispered, just in case other monsters were around. Grabbing her hand to lead her - for all I know, something invisible could come out and take her. I had to be sure she was close by. Shadows lurked behind every bush and tree, and once in a while I would slip from the mud from my shoes. But at least we were safe from the monster.
Soon, a small creak with murky water appeared. It was better then nothing. Leading her to the creek, I let go of her hand and ripped some material from my shirt. Wetting the material in the water, I came back to the princess.
"We can work on my shoulder a bit better once I'm sure you're okay."
I said, gently pressing the wet fabric against her wound. I noticed then, when her perfume from before came back to my nose, how close we were. I swallowed, trying to keep in mind that she was the princess. Not some harlot I should be day dreaming about. But she was a gorgeous princess at that, and any knight would die for this opportunity with one of the twins, even if it will cost them their life being here.

Aven nodded her head, and allowed the man to take her hand and lead her. But that have ben because her head was still spinning and she was having a hard time registering this all in her mind. She had always thought the dark forest was just something her mother had made up to keep her and her sister in the castle grounds. It had worked, Aven had never ventured outside of castle speed. And when they were kids Callista would always say that if she misbehaved the monsters from the forest would seek her out.
She didn't realize they had reached their destination and snapped out of whatever trance she was in when she felt something cool pressed against her head. She looked up an saw the knight infront of her. She didn't say anything about the closeness and fought the blush that threatened to creep into her cheeks. So she smiled slightly and raised her slender fingers to hold the cloth to her head. "Thank you." She said softly, averting her eyes from his and down at his mouth. Not because she was thinking of anything dirty, though his lips were nice. But because she noticed blood there.
"You hurt yourself again." She said bluntly. "And it's my fault, again." She was proving to be more trouble than she was worth.

When she lifted her hand to hold the material, my rough, calloused skin brushed against her soft fingers. "No." Was all I said though much more gentle then firm, keeping my hold on the material. She could have hurt her head bad enough to get dizzy and disoriented and it would be wrong to make her take care of herself. She was the princess, afterall. I'll take care of myself later.
I frowned at her next words. "I was the one that brought us here when we could have just ran around the forest." I said so she wouldn't think this was her fault, putting pressure on the wound on her head to stop the bleeding alittle more. "I thought we could stay by the exit..." I said, my red lips from the blood pressed against each other in a firm line as I shook my head slightly at myself. "I don't know what was wrong with me; I'm a knight of your kingdom. I've been trained to think clearly in those situations."
I clenched my jaw, anger at my own stupid self boiling in my core. I finally met her eyes again. "Why don't you sit down, Princess. You could have hurt your head quite badly." I said, grabbing her other hand to lead her to a boulder just in case her vision might be blurry from the wound.

When his calloused fingers brushed hers, she sighed softly. There was no arguing with him. She'd just let him too whatever, she should have been used to being treated like that. Being told what she could and could not do, but at least he was honestly just looking out for her well being.
But that didn't stop her from frowning when he said it was his fault. In all honesty, it was his fault that they went into the forest, but she should have just turned them around and go back to the kingdom. Her father could send a messenger or something, or a new troop of soldiers to accompany her on the next trek. But no, she decided to be stubborn and think that everything would just be fine and that they could make it.
Aven allowed him to lead her towards a boulder, she felt a little dizzy at the movement and tried not to let it show. She would be strong, she wouldn't be a weak Princess. Her sister would probably be taking care of herself, not allowing the man to baby her as she was now. Sitting down and pressing her back against the cool stone, she raised her hand once more to hold the cloth to her bleeding head. "I can managed this, you should take care of yourself." she said, her voice firm. Hopefully he would catch that this was an order and not a request. She would take care of herself, but deep down for her own selfish reason, she didn't want him to get hurt anymore. Not because she cared, not that she didn't, she just wouldn't know what she would do if this man, Travis, died.
