Kohaku sighed. "Not always, but occasionaly." He answered. "Vorlos's right, she needs some alone time." He added. Starfrost snarled. "Its none of your buisness," She hissed, no longer her hsppy, cheerful self. She turned around, "I'm going to the stream," She saom through gritted teeth. Kohaku just shook his head.

Calyx slunk over to Halphas, hiding behind him. "What he said." She woofed quietly. Kohaku looked nervously at Calyx and Halphas. "Sorry," He apologized. "Oh, i-its okay, all my fault. Hehe." Calyx answered, still hiding behind Halphas.

"Starfrost is just under some stress, is all." Kohaku said awkwardly. "I'm sorry if you...hurt you," He added.

Halphas, who was sitting down to observe the dilemma, stood up. "Umm, are you four pack wolves?" He asked, eager to change the subject.

Basira looked around the forest. She quickly edged in front of Nyght. "I think they're here, Nyght." She said excitedly. "I smell wolves, and the berries. Goodness, what are they thinking of?" She chuckled.

Leto nudged Kohaku in a friendly way. "No worries. I bet when the pack is sorted out, we'll all be happier." She said cheerfully.

Vorlos nodded to Kohaku, slowly following Starfrost. "Any idea where the stream is?" Vorlos asked her, looking around the trees. He didn't hear any familiar sound of rushing water. 

"Here," Answered Starfrost, rounding a few trees. She sat down and swished her tail over her front paws, waiting for Vorlos. "Come on. I don't have all day, the mud is seeping into my skin." She woofed. She looked onward, a small cave stood infront of her. "I hope your not afraid of the dark," She snickered.

"Yeah," Answered Kohaku, tail wagging slightly. A familiar scent flooded his nose. "Nyght?" He asked excitedly. Nyght poked his head through the brambles. "hello~" he said happily. "You're right, they'r ehere." Nyght woofed excitedly.

Kohaku turned to Halphas. "Yes, why?" He asked.

Halphas shuffled his paws. "Perhaps Calyx and I... could join your pack?" He asked, glancing at Calyx uncertainly.

Basira burst through the bushes along with Nyght. "Oh, you were right, Nyght!" She woofed happily. "There are so many wolves here, more than I have ever encountered!" She sniffed all of them excitedly, wagging her tail and then returning to stand by Nyght. "Hello!" said Basira. "My name is Basira. I was hoping to join your pack too."

Leto nodded enthusiastically. "Wow, so many wolves wanting to join our pack!" She said cheerfully. Then she paused. "We need territory, yes?" She asked Kohaku.

Vorlos' eyes flashed mischievously. "Afraid?" He asked. "I blend into the dark, Starfrost." He silently darted forward into the cave. True enough, his black pelt camouflaged him, making Vorlos almost invisible to spot, despite his white belly.  

"I'll lead," Starfrost happily trotted infront of Vorlos. She took a few lefts, rights, and soon enough they were in a large room, illuminated by strang green crystals on the wall. "Cool, huh?" She said happily. "The stream's over there," she pointed to a small green stream to her left. She took a running jump and 'cannon-balled' into it. She absolutly loved water. She padde dout of the water and shook the water off her pelt, all over Vorlos.

Kohaku wagged his tail. "Sure, more the merrier!" His eyes flashe with happiness. For once, he seemed peacefull, cheerful, even.

Calyx poked her head over Halphas's shoulder. "Awesome!" She chirped.

Vorlos chuckled, but gave a startled yelp when a shower of water came over him. "Watch where you're shaking, Starfrost!" He protested. Vorlos didn't really like water that much. Nevertheless, he jumped into the stream and waded in it for a few seconds, then quickly jumping out.

Leto looked equally happy. "Yesyes, more the merrier!" She echoed, wagging her tail. "We'll be the first pack to settle into the forest, and we'll have the strongest wolves ever seen!"

Halphas groaned. These wolves looked like a mixture of amateurs and loners. They weren't going to make a stable pack. "I could help." He volunteered. "I know pack life like the back of my paw." 

"I did!" Giggled Starfrost. She dived into the water again. She swam in circles happily. "Wait, whats that?" She asked ehrself outloud. Before anyone could protest, she dived under water. she rounded a corner, her lungs cried out for air, but it was too late now. She swam up, air filled her lungs so fast, it hurt. She opened her eyes, "Vorlos, Its a Crystall its soo cool--" Vorlos wasn't there. She had found a secret under water cavern. How could she et out now?

Kohaku and Nyght wagged tehy're tails also. "I know!" Kohaku  woofed happily. "But forst, we need a camp...." Nyght said. "I guess your right," Agreed Kohaku. "When Starfrost and Vorlos get back, we'll explore the forest, sound good?"

Calyx smiled from behind Halphas. "Isn't thi exciting?" She woofed. "We're going to be in a pack!" She howled.

Halphas nodded, eyes rather dreamy. "Pack..." He murmured in an almost longing way. He had been exiled from his pack recently, and had already found a new one. "Do you all know how to set borders?" He asked, briskly taking a bit of control. "Because..." He regained his sense. "I know how to...?" Halphas trailed off uncertainly.

Basira looked at Nyght and the white female wolf uncertainly. "Pack... don't we need to settle the ranks and pupwatchers?" She caught herself. "Oh wait, no pups." Basira shrugged. "And yes, settling is more important. I know for a fact that there will be no packs here. Our hunting territory will be large." She wagged her tail.

Leto nodded enthusiastically. "Yes yes, we need pups and all, but borders are important!" She said, waving away Basira's topic. "I bet there are lots of prey here that don't even know what a wolf is." She barked out laughter.

Vorlos was standing on the edge of the water. "She hasn't come up yet." He observed. It certainly wouldn't be good for him to return to the others without Starfrost. "Starfrost, you there?" He called out. "If this is a joke, it isn't funny." He had become a bit fretful, wondering where she was. 

Starfrost started to whimper. She heard Vorlos, but he probrably couldn't hear her. Wait, bubbles! She stuck her head in the water and started to blow bubbles. She watched as they floated to the top. Come on, come on...She whispered to herself. Starfrost curled up on the small 'island', how boring. And scary, if you thought about it.

"Borders..." Thought Nyght outloud. "I do, anyone else?" Calyx and Kohaku looked at they're paws, obviously embaras.sed. He sighed heavily. "Well, once we find a territory, me and Haplhas will matrk the borders, and teach everyone else how." He decided. "Ah, ranks. Another important thing we need. Thats going to be the hardest," he said. He looked at Basira. "And I think your right about pups, we need more pack members." He smiled.

"I love pups!: Came Calyx;s yip. "They're soooo cute!" She added. "I'm going to have pups of my own some day~" Her eyes sparkled.

Basira nodded. "I have no idea about borders either." She admitted, though sounding confident. "But I have some talents with plants and healing herbs... My mother taught them to me in order to survive." She added sheepishly. "Pups... we'll decide about that later." It was obvious that Leto didn't want to speak much about it, though Calyx seemed very excited about the topic.

Halphas eyed Calyx. He was no fan of pups. To him, yes, they were valuable additions to the pack, but also rather whiney. A small group of loners would have to handle quite a lot. "Er, pups. You'll make a good mother then, Calyx. I can tell by your attitude." He said.

"I know how to find dens." Leto spoke up. "And I suppose Vorlos would want to be the Alpha..." She muttered sullenly. Leto couldn't speak up for herself, she couldn't trust power and its ways.

Vorlos looked around. "Why are there bubbles?" He asked himself, watching a few rise to the top. There weren't any when he and Starfrost waded in it. His had an idea. "Starfrost?" He called tentatively again. Vorlos shivered at the thought of plunging into the water again, but he had to follow the bubbles to bring the wolf back. Taking a deep breath, Vorlos plunged in, kicking and following the source of the bubbles even though the water stung his eyes. When he pulled up again, he saw Starfrost. "There you are!" Vorlos said weakly, gasping for breath. 

Starfrost pulled Vorlos up. "Guess my little plan worked," She said happily. "But then.....Now both of us are stuck." She help out a small pearl-like crystal. "I was looking for this, isn't it beautiful?" she asked. She shook her head, stay on task! She told herself. "Now....how are we going to get out of here?" She whimpered.

Calyx wagged her tail up a tornado. "Mabye you could be the Medicine wolf!" She suggested. "Thanks, Halphas," She woofed happily. "Sure, they can be whiney, but still.....they're so cute!" She giggled. "I remember my other siblings, boy, they wouldn't shut up!" She added. "I was the quiet one." She wondered off.

Nyght thought for a moment. "Mabye we could have a contest on who could be the alpha?" He suggested. Kohaku nodded. "Tat sounds better than fighting," Agreed Kohaku.

Basira tilted her head to one side. "Medicine wolf?" She echoed. "It sounds decent." She nodded respectfully. "But I think we should have the contest once the borders and dens are set up. That would make things easier, with every wolf being equal right now." Basira pointed out.

Leto nodded. "I won't be cheering for Vorlos, no sir-ree." She said. "Who's going to want to become the Alpha or Alphess?" She asked.

Halphas shrugged. "In my old pack, it looked like I was going to be the next Alpha." He said lamely. "But I was exiled before I had the chance. Oh well. And I agree with Basira. Let us settle the borders and the dens first."

Vorlos rolled his eyes. "You're attracted to shiny things, aren't you?" He asked. "But it is pretty." He admitted, taking it gently. "Perhaps we could bring it with us. I could put it in..." He wondered. Vorlos certainly couldn't put the crystal into his paw. 

"Well, no...Umm....Mabye....err...Okay, I am! Happy now?" she snapped. Starfrost le tout a sigh. "Mabey we could swim back up?" She suggested. "If we could get in, we can get out." She said matter-of-factly. "I'll just carry it in my mouth.....If it fits." She giggled.

"I'll be cheering for Halphas!" Yipped Calyx. She opened her mouth to speak, but her stomach interi=upted her. "Awww....I'm hungry." she said to herself. "When can we hunt?" She asked.

Nyght shrugged. "Whoever wins the contest, I guess. I'm going to try for Beta," He woofed. "Neh, I'm not interested in Alpha. Its too much work," Kohaku stated. "I'll just be a......member." He sighed. "And I agree with Basira," Nyght woofed.

Leto chuckled. "Expect some competition, Nyght." She said. "Vorlos was Beta in our old pack." She shrugged. "Then I guess I'll be cheering for both Halphas and Nyght, then." She gave Kohaku a friendly nudge. "I suppose we're both too lazy, eh?" She grinned.

Basira shrugged. "Where are the other two?" She asked, worrying about them. "Vorlos and Starfrost. They've been gone for quite a bit, and we have to tell them about this plan."

Vorlos shrugged. "Alright." He said, handing the crystal back to her. "Come on, let's dive down again and look for the way out." He walked to the edge of the cave, where he peered into the water.

Halphas nodded. "I suppose we shall settle the ranks once the markers are set. It's nearly... noon." He observed, surprised that the sky had turned from a vibrant blue to a bright orange so quickly. "Thanks for the cheers, Calyx." He said, wagging his tail slowly.  

"Your welcome," Calyx yipped cheerfully. "Now that you think abotu it, those two have been gone for some time...Should we go look for them?" She asked, worry in her eyes.

Starfrost shivered. "Its getting cold, I'm going to freeze!" She whimpered to herself, placing the pearl in her mouth and folllowing Vorlos. "On twee." Her voice was muffled by the pearl. "Wun."

Starfrost has having second thoughts.

"Twuu."

What if they didn't make it out?

"Twee!" Before she could protest, her body had already dived in. She opened her eyes, frantically looking for an exit. Her heart beat a mile a minute. I'm such an idiot! She snapped at herself. Her lungs burned. Her wings started to drag her down. Wha--?! Whats happening? Her wings! They were blades, of cpurse they woundn't float! Crap.

"I know where they went," Kohaku woofed. "At the crystal cave, not far from here. Want to go finf them?" he asked. Nyght shrugged. "Yeah, I say we go. Its getting dark, and ee have no shelter. I think we should hide in the cave till morning, or atleast look for more shelter." He said.

Calyx nodded. She stretched her legs, ignoring her stomachs sudden outbursts for food. Be patient. She told herse.f

"Calyx... you look a bit... strained." Halphas observed. "We didn't really eat much for some time. Perhaps we should split up. A few go hunt with Calyx, while a few go look for Starfrost and Vorlos. How's that?" He asked the rest for their opinion. Leto shrugged. "I'll go hunting with Calyx." She volunteered, not wanting to see Vorlos. Basira shrugged too. "I don't mind either." She said.

"Idiot." Vorlos muttered irritably, leaping after Starfrost. He could only see her body through the water. Idiot. He repeated, seeing that her wings were dragging her down. So that's the problem. He swam over as quickly as his legs could bring him, the effort costing him some breath. Vorlos began swimming up, anywhere was worse than up, constantly pushing Starfrost with his nose.  

I hate my wings. Whimpered starfrost. Why couldn't they have feathers, instead if sharp blades. she probrably looked like an idiot to Vorlos. By the look on his face, he probrably did. Damn-it! She cursed. Why me? Wait! I got it! Starfrost closed her wings tight around her body. She hugged Vorlos and pointed her head down. She then shot a blast of water, pushed her and Vorlos up. The pearl rolled out of her mouth, but she didn't notice. She opened her mouth to take in a breath, and to her relief, air filled her lungs. "T-Thankjs," she sputtered.

Calyx drooped. "I do?" She whimpered. She stared at her paws awkwardly. Nyght batted at Halphas's ears. "That wasn't exactly the best thhing to say," He muttered, slightly smirking. Calyx took nto notice at the mention of food. "Okay.." She finally muttered. Kohaku rolled his eyes.
