Ooc// Sorry guys. o-o; I spent my day cleaning and hiking yesterday--I logged on briefly, but didn't reply to anything that required more than a few sentences. Anyways, I like that idea Det. I was also wondering if anyone particularly wanted to start. I can if necessary, but I have several other roleplays I also need to reply to, so it might be a little bit. Dx

Ooc; I will start now. c: And I didn't know, so I'm sorry for being so bothersome. Posting an intro asap. <3 Alessandra wheeled around slowly and huffed loudly, staring back at the guarded citadel that had once been her home. As of five minutes ago. Now she was locked out, told not to return until she had succeeded, or at least done something impossible. If she wanted, death was the other option. "Yeah right," she grumbled, crossing her arms. Behind her Morwydi snuffled quietly, head swinging back and fro in a distressed motion. He hated seeing her upset. Uncrossing her arms Alessandra scratched her chin and made an irritated noise at the back of her throat. With a small toss of her head she turned around and regarded her surroundings. "Your quest members will be waiting outside. Mhm? Really, I don't see anyone here." The path that led into the forest was marked deeply with wagon ruts, flattened patches of grass running along the sides. The woods themselves were dark and forbidding, right out of a fairytale. But that was Brennan Castle, a fantastic tale that just happened to come true. Dragonriders, soaring across the skies on the back of their majestic beasts, were a common sight around these parts. It was not unusual to see mail or goods being delivered by smaller dragons either. The dragons were capable of thought-communication, and were widely known as skilled telepaths at a young age. It was said a form of this linking was how dragonets first chose their riders, even when in the eggs at the time. Sliding a small knife from the belt on her waist Alessandra toyed with the edge casually, running the pad of her thumb across the razor-sharp edge. Watching as a tiny droplet of crimson blood welled up she wiped it off on her tunic roughly, ignoring the stinging pain. I don't have all the time in the world, she thought with a roll of her eyes. But I do, Morwydi thought quietly. It was not him bragging about his longevity, but rather him stating the obvious...again. If there was one thing Alessandra could not understand about Morwydi was how slow he took things, looking at each situation with calm eyes and silently assessing it. Then again, dragons did have all the time in the world. And perhaps beyond that. Ooc; Ahem, well. I made up a fantasy world (though we can fix that if we can historical fantasy) and made it so that they were sent on a quest with little or no instruction. I left out the item, though, because I wasn't sure if the charras were finding them or receiving them. Also, you don't have to make your characters late. They could be in the woods already or something. :U Tell me if there's something off, since I wasn't sure how to begin.

Ooc// Psh, you're not being bothersome. Thanks for bumping this! <3 I like the idea of a fantasy realm a bit better. :> It'll be easier to have the dragon-riding aspect, and that way we don't have to have any rigid details and so on~ As for the items, maybe Marim could bring them in? His uncle could be behind the whole quest, and had given him the items that each of them would use...and it would totally be like him to be late. ^^; Whatever is good for you guys, though~ I'll post my intro in a moment. |D

Ooc; I like that. xD It gives us some stuff to play around with, since Marim could supposedly have information the others don't as the quest organizer is his uncle etc. I dunno. -shrugs- :D

Ooc// M'kay~ Bic// The satchel was heavy on Marim's shoulder as he finally climbed aboard Aeseli. He didn't look down to the smiling faces below him, didn't acknowledge the tears on their faces. The goodbyes were already said, and now all he could do was go. No amount of tears would stop his father and uncle from pushing him into this insane quest. Asa trilled sympathetically as he lay a cheek against her smooth red scales. She shifted under him, and he tightened his grip on his saddle and reins, and then she leapt into the air, beating the wind with her powerful wingstrokes. Being airborne had always had a soothing affect on Marim. Asa always told him no one else could tell, because he kept his turmoil strictly hidden, but that bit of insight didn't stop the rushing of the wind from tearing his worries away. The flight was grievously short, as the meeting place that the group had agreed on was only a stone's throw from Marim's own little town. When Aeseli landed, though, he had the distinct feeling that they were late. The goodbyes had run longer than expected, and of course Asa had to be late, as always. He leapt off his dragon and made his way towards a girl that wasn't looking particularly accomodating of his lateness. He offered a small smile and a proffered hand. "Sorry about being late--I'm Marim. Is the other girl here yet?"

Ooc; WAIT. o_o Are the dragons wise or not? I didn't think we'd have them talking, because that'd be confusing imo, but I dunno. I don't really care. xD Just Alessandra described them as being about as smart as a horse. o_O;

Ooc; I like smart dragons. D: They could use telepathy (italicize the words) instead of talking outright to clear confusion. :o Katrina's legs touched the ground as she sat nestled in the crook of Shard's neck. He glanced back at her with his narrow head, salmon pink tongue flicking out of his mouth. He growled playfully and nipped at Katrina's outstretched fingers when she went to rub the scales just under his jaw. They were on relatively flat groud, looking over a cliff edge where a small river wound beneath them. Shard lifted his neck and stood a bit taller on his haunches, scaled belly coming off the ground as he did so. Katina's feet lifted off of the ground, but she still wasn't very high in the air. Shard is a relatively small dragon for his kind, wingspan only reaching a good twenty-something feet while his body length was nearly two thirds of that. All the same, for what Shard couldnt do with bulk, he made up with agility, speed, and spunk. To emphasis Katri's thoughts on her dragon companion, Shard gripped the edge of the cliff edge, wickedly curved claws sliding out from his oversized paws and digging into the earth. He unfurled his wings with gusto before falling back onto his haunches. Katrina grabbed the reigns that were secured around his neck just as he leapt into the air. they were in freefall for a few terrifying moments as Shard made sure his tail left the range of the ground. With strong downstrokes of his wings, the two soared upward into the sky. When Shard reached his peak, he closed his wings around his sides, whipped his tail to his left, and dove back down to the earth. We have an important place to be, Katrina thought to the childish creature and she felt only a faint glimmer of shame go through him. All the same, he stretched out his wings and glided lazily to the meeting place. Just as Katrina expected, all of the dragon riders were already there. "Sorry we're late," Katrina said, a but flustered as she slid off of Shard's neck. The dragon snorted and sat down on the ground to watch the others.

Ooc//Alrighty. c: I thought I should check~ Bic// Marim nodded politely to the girl that had just arrived, and then followed her lead and slipped off Aeseli's back. Behave yourself, he thought sternly to her as his feet touched the ground. Who? Me? Asa shot back, her retort dripping with mock innocence. The red dragoness kept her large head just behind his shoulder in a protective stance and he walked closer to the other two girls. Her lengthy, slight body curly behind him, her tail twitching nervously. Stop it, he admonished harshly, We're going to be a team for who knows how long. The least you can do is be friendly. Asa sent him a wavelength of doubt and annoyance instead of replying, and all he could do was plaster on a smile and set a good example. "Hello," he greeted both of them. "I'm Marim Siene. My uncle is the one behind all of this--the scholar Isaac Siene?" He sighed, thinking of the man with a mix of affection and agravation. His uncle had showed no interest in him until it was time to give him an education, and then his praise still didn't go beyond the classroom. Tearing himself from his thoughts, he heaved the satchel over his head and pulled out a book and a quill. The items sent chills up his arms, the way they seemed to whisper of harbored power and forgotten secrets. They way they seemed to know something he didn't. "Which one of you is Katrina?"

Katrina listened-- or at least attempted to-- as Marim spoke, taking in only a few of his sentences before images sent from Shard distracted her. She would watch a short mirage of them two flipping over the air, Shard attempting a new maneuver with Katri on his back. Stop it, she hissed to him in her thoughts and he nipped at her ankles playfully. She jumped right when Marim said her name, and her cheeks grew hot with embarrassment. Thanks for the great first impression of us, Katrina said to her partner, and he merely snorted and nudged her back to push her forward. "Ah, I'm Katrina," she said as she leaned over slightly to take a peek at what was in the bag. Shard huffed behind her and Katri blinked. "Call me Kat or Katri. Oh, and that's Shard. Excuse his...childish behavior," she said with a frown.

Alessandra looked away from the forest and spun around on one heel, frowning sharply at the sight of the two. So engrossed in her obersations she hadn't noticed their dragons touch down and let them off. Sighing she flipped her dark hair back and brushed it of her eyes, their blue irises cool. She wasn't feeling instant dislike for the two, but an early wake-up and bad morning didn't lend anything positive to Alessandra's already irate attitude. Rolling her shoulders she walked up to them slowly, putting a hand on Morwydi's brilliant tawny hide as she neared her dragon. Blinking at the loving wavelengths coming from them she almost forgot to speak, her mouth twitching slightly. "I'm Alessandra. No nicknames unless you're close to me, which you aren't." Staring at Marim's hands she raised an eye at the artifacts, impressed. "I know Isaac, grumpy old scholar that he is. He's the one that has us on this quest, isn't he?" Alessandra groaned and ran a hand through her hair quickly, feeling awkward with these sudden introductions. Given the busy schedule of a dragonrider, especially one in training, she rarely met others her age unless forced to do a group training. So really, she'd never seen the two before.

Marim smiled--albeit warily--and handed Katrina the book. "Please to meet you...Katri. And I feel the same way," he said, faking a pained ex pression and gesturing towards Asa. The dragoness hmphed in an irritated manner, but didn't back down from her stance. "And nice to make your acquaintance as well, Shard," Marim ammended quickly. As the other girl turned to them, Marim couldn't help but feel a slight wave of dislike towards her. She had that antisocial, perhaps even arrogant demeanor that didn't ammend itself when she introduced herself. Her comment about his uncle sent a daagger of annoyance into his mind--he could fuss about his family all he wanted, but it was in a loving way. When someone else so outrightly criticized him, it only made him mad. Instead of shooting back some retort that he was sure would get the whole group into trouble, Marim nodded stiffly and handed over the quill to her at arm's length. "Your tool for the quest, courtesy of my uncle." Then he looked away and retreated a few steps, until Asa's neck touched his back and a concerned croon echoed from deep in her chest. Marim absentmindedly reached up and stroked the scales, warm from the sun, while he studied the shadows. After a moment's consideration, he spoke up again. "It's getting late, if we are to leave today. Isaac said that if we could get across the Sha'rin Desert by nightfall, we should be able to find quarters in Sha'rin City, and plan our next move from there." He cleared his throat, feeling slightly uncomfortable. Here he was, asking these two girls with their whole lives ahead of them to risk their futures and go on some insane quest with him. Already the first leg of the journey was going to be harsh--while the Sha'rin Desert could be crossed in a day on dragonback, any amount of dangers could befall them, from wild tribesmen to sandstorms. It was a merciless place of ever-changing sand and hot, dry earth. No water for miles on end. And Sha'rin City, the City of the Sands, was reputed to be the most dangerous in all the kingdom, fraught with crime and thievery. Things certainly didn't seem to be getting off to a good start.

Alessandra humphed and took the quill gingerly, carefully avoiding Marim's fingers with her own. With precise movements she brought it up to her face and lifted an eyebrow, adopting an unimpressed ex pression. "Thank you, but I already have a new quill." As she said this, however, she was carefully inspecting the quill. It was unique in appearance alone, made out of a long gray feather with a black rachis that seemed devoid of colour. Even the calamus was like that, the end sharpened to a wicked point. The after feathers had been stripped off and where the barbs started two long tines swooped out gracefully, both a shining gold colour. Just like the rachis absorbed light the shafts almost glowed with an inner lumination. It was definitely a magical artifact. Her eyebrows settled and Alessandra made a little noise, impressed but unwilling to show it. Glancing at Marim she sighed and reached into the pouch that hang on a low belt around her waist. Delving for a moment she fished out a slim piece of leather. Alessandra deftly wrapped the ends of the cord around the rachis before reaching her hands behind her neck, tying a knot back there quickly. Dropping the cord the quill settled onto her chest, glowing conspicuously. "A quill that glows. How useful. I'm blaming you if we get caught because of it," she commented in an off-hand manner as she tucked it into her tunic and under her loose linen shirt.
