Alfred grinned and nodded. "I'm totally up for popcorn!" he said as he stood up and shifted Penny in his arms, reaching down to take his plate to the kitchen while he was at it. "Should we watch maybe two more movies? That'd be about four hours, but not including Iron Man you'd be set to watch The Avengers," he said with a grin. "Which is also super cool because it has Captain America, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, AND The Hulk!" he said rather happily, taking his plate to the sink before he started looking through his cabinets. "Do you want microwave popcorn or popcorn on the stovetop? I mean, the microwave popcorn usually tastes better in my opinion..."

Ivan picked up his own plate, setting his drink down carefully to avoid spillages, and followed Alfred out into the kitchen, placing his plate on top of his friend's. “That sounds fine to me.” He nodded, guessing that the two movies in question had likely already been chosen. That was perfectly alright, seeing as he didn't know any of them well enough to have a preference of his own on the matter. “I have not heard of Hawkeye, or of the Black Widow, but I know of the others you mention.” He added, intrigued by the names, before considering the latest question he'd been asked. “Oh, whatever is most convenient, I do not mind. Should I get bowls out now? I noticed where those were earlier.” He responded, wondering absently whether the Black Widow had arachnid-related abilities. Perhaps a poison specialist, if the spider theme was the province of Spiderman only? Clearly, this was likely to be a female character, given the name, and most probably an Avenger – unless she were an antagonist – but he had nothing to go on but her name. With Hawkeye, though, the possibilities were more varied. It was unclear from only the name whether this one was a man or a woman, and s/he could feasibly have either bird-related powers or excellent vision without anything avian involved. It would be interesting to find out, he supposed. “By the way, how is it that the Hulk is always wearing purple underwear when he changes? I do not understand how that works, or why it does not rip. Does it have special powers of its own?” He asked, hitting upon a more obvious point of bafflement he'd come across. “Of course, I am not complaining – I am very much glad that it works – I am simply wondering why it works. Ahh, and why he seems to wear the same pair all the time.”

Alfred nodded in response to the query regarding bowls, only to pause, bl ink, and slowly set Penny down. "You know...that's actually an excellent question, Vanya. Or, well, I think it's only purple constantly in the comics? Because i'm pretty sure in The Avengers he's wearing really ripped up khakis," he muttered with a small frown. "Unfortunately I don't watch Avengers nearly as much as I watch Captain America. So yeah, it's either jeans or khakis I think." He turned to pull out a couple bags of microwave popcorn, tossing them into his microwave to let them start popping. "Oh and Black Widow is a spy and Hawkeye is an archer if that explains anything. I'll explain more about them later if you want me to," he said as he laced his hands behind his back with an idle grin.

When Alfred nodded, Ivan went to the cupboard he'd seen bowls in before, and retrieved a couple of them, placing them on the surface nearest the microwave. "Ahh, that makes more sense. I suppose that it would not be as implausible in a comic book - many comic characters seem to have very limited clothing, from what I have seen." He responded, feeling more sure of the topic now that he knew that the Hulk didn't have magic underwear. The bowls he'd selected were of reasonable size, so the bags of popcorn would probably fit into them quite neatly, and they were a rather nice shade of pale blue, with little wave patterns on them. Ivan listened for the popping he knew was soon to come, finding that sort of sound mildly entertaining - at least, when he was expecting it. "Ahh, I see - I was wondering about their names. Black Widow is a lady, da? I was not sure about Hawkeye." He replied, inquisitive.

"Yeah. Oh! And her real names Natasha Romanov," Alfred added, grinning over at Ivan. "Hawkeye is Clint, Captain America is Steve, Iron Man is Tony, and Hulk is Bruce!" He looked into the microwave through the clear door so he could watch the popcorn bags start to inflate, tilting his head a little bit. "They're all really cool characters, especially if you can learn more about them through the comics!" He started bouncing lightly on his toes again, his earlier sadness and uncomfortableness caused by the whole Bucky thing seeming to be gone. "Oh and, well, Thor is Thor so there was no real name there," he said as an afterthought, chuckling a bit. Though he supposed that bit was fairly obvious seeing as he was already a thing before comic books, so...

"Ah, I see, that is quite interesting. Amusing that Batman is sharing a name with the Hulk, da?" Ivan responded, snickering slightly at the mental comparison between the Dark Knight and the green giant. It was gratifying to see that Alfred had recovered his bouncy, and to watch him actually bounce - that only made the term more fitting, to be honest. "Ah, Thor - are any of his siblings also mentioned? The Aesir, the Vanir? Oh, what about Sleipnir? That is the eight-legged horse that happened when Loki seduced a stallion working for someone that the Norse gods wanted to cheat. I think that would be quite embarrassing for Thor if it ever came up in conversation, da?" Ivan added, latching onto the mythological subject matter linked with the name.

"Just Loki," Alfred responded. "I don't know how much of the mythology really made it into the comics to be honest,' he said, looking back at Ivan over his shoulder. "Um, but uh..what's was his name...Heimdall! Yeah, Heimdall is in the movie Thor," he said before he turned around to lean back, looking thoughtful. "And Odin of course, along with Frigga...and um...a few other people whose names I can't quite remember," he responded, blinking. "But I never really dug deep into mythology, so all I know about any of it is what I read in the comics." He grinned a bit. "But then again mythology wasn't presented in a book of pretty colors and action scenes, so I was never really able to sit and focus on it."

Ivan supposed that he could understand that not all of the mythology would filter into what went into the comics - the writers would want to go with things that would fit into the world they wrote for, after all, and too much backstory would take pages that they could use for something else. "Ahh, Heimdall - good with a horn, but not much is known about him." He replied, wondering why that one in particular had been chosen. Perhaps they liked his name? There were worse reasons to do something, he supposed. "Did they remember the birds of Odin?" He asked, listening to the popping sounds coming from the microwave. "If I recall correctly, there is a lot of action in Norse mythology - particularly seeing as their version of heaven involved feasting and brawling. Perhaps there is a less dry way to learn about them, if you are interested." Ivan mused aloud, wondering whether there would be any pictures on the internet of mythological battles.

"Well Heimdall is basically the one who controls the gates so he's kind of there to let people in and out," Alfred responded, stretching out a bit. "Thor, the movie, starts off in Asgard, so I guess he'd have to be there for something." Then he cocked his head a little bit. "No, nothing involving birds. They're just kind of...there for the largest part of the movie I think," he said rubbing his neck with a slight frown. "Once again I haven't watched Thor anywhere near as much as I've seen Captain America so my memory may be a hazy about some things." He turned around once the popcorn stopped popping and smiled, pulling out the bags and heading over to the bowls to start pouring the popcorn into them. "And if there is I might actually enjoy learning about them. I just can't sit somewhere and read a whole lot at once or I just end up zoning out."

Well, at least Heimdall had a clearly defined role in Marvel, Ivan reflected, listening. "Ah, I see." He responded, bending over a little to peer into the microwave. "Well, Odin has a pair of birds, ravens, called Huginn and Muninn. They fly around Midgard to pick up information to tell to him - kind of like spies, but with feathers." Ivan clarified, feeling the need to explain what he meant. Ivan got out of the way when the popcorn was ready, watching as Alfred retrieved it. The scent wafting from the newly-popped corn was delectable, and he smiled. "I am sure that there is something, if there are so many things based on this mythology. If I find anything, I will let you know." He assured his friend, watching as the bowls were filled.

Alfred nodded and after the first bag was empty he pushed it towards Ivan, grinning. "You can go on to the living room if you want, get comfortable on the couch. I have to change DVDs still," he said, pouring out the other bag into his bowl and throwing away the empty bags. "Oh and if you need any refills I guess now is as good a time as any," he said with a quiet laugh, grinning. "Oh yeah! Did you like Captain America?" he asked, looking up at his Russian friend with wide, excited eyes. "You seemed like you were getting into it but I mean it can't hurt to ask!"

((It kind of is, isn't it? Sorry about that - it was the first explanation that came to mind.))
Ivan took the bowl of popcorn gratefully, nodding. "Ah, okay, thank you." He answered, "I do not need any refills, I still have half of my drink left." He added, popping a piece of popcorn into his mouth. "I did enjoy watching that film with you, I think I can see why you like it so much." He replied, glancing across at those big blue puppy eyes with a slight chuckle. "This has been fun so far. I wonder what the next one will be like?"

((It's okay ;v; I've been meaning to look into it for a while now.))
Alfred's face lit up as brightly as possible, the American obviously excited that he had someone to do all of this with officially. He almost looked excited enough to tackle his new Marvel-buddy, but that would involve ending up spilling popcorn and that wasn't a thing he was going to do on purpose. "I'm so glad!" he said instead, his tone very childishly excited. Heroes were his passion and to really be able to share it with someone felt absolutely amazing and he was also immensely glad that is happened to be Ivan that he could share it with!
((So while watching this I may end up accidentally typing America and Russia since I'm watching all this HetaOni ;v;))

((No worries, I'll know what you mean.))
Bozhe moi, he has lit up like a flare! Ivan thought, eyes widening at the sight. For a moment, he was under the impression that he was about to be glomped, but it seemed that his friend had moderation while bowls of easy-to-spill edibles were involved. "I am pleased to have made you happy~" He stated, smiling. It was really too cute, the way that this American reacted to someone sharing a closely-held interest with him. Ivan felt as though he might melt from all the adorableness that seemed to be warming him. Oh, no, wait - that was just the popcorn. Mostly the popcorn, anyway. Still, it was very sweet. Even Alfred's voice had taken a turn for the cuter! "Ah, I will be on the couch, then." He added, wanting to retreat to the living room before the blush that threatened to emerge could make itself known.

((So I'm on like part 24 out of 43 and WOW
poor Italybby goodness gracious :c
But now he's realized he doesn't have to do things alone :'D))
Alfred nodded, grinning. "I'll be in there in a sec!" he said happily before he started to dig around for napkins so they wouldn't end up getting butter all over everything. "And then I'll be able to put the DVD and we can watch Thor! Though I mean since you know all the actual mythology I'm not a hundred percent sure you'll enjoy it? Because I mean it doesn't exactly follow Mythology too well, but hey! You never know until you try!"

((The whole thing is pretty hard on poor lil Feli, isn't it? At least he knows he can lean on his friends, though~))
Ivan nodded as he ambled out of the kitchen, listening to Alfred bustling about. "Do not worry, I will not be irritated by errors. It is meant to be enjoyed, not given marks for accuracy." He answered in parting, before strolling back to the couch and sitting himself down. At least now he knew what they would be watching, he reflected, munching again. He wondered how many things he would see smashed with Thor's hammer, seeing as they were unlikely to forget that particular detail. He was looking forward to it, though - Alfred hadn't steered him wrong so far.

Alfred trotted in after a little bit, setting down his bowl of popcorn and the napkins he'd found so he could start changing the DVDs. "I'm glad you won't end up getting angry at the movie, then. I've seen mythology buffs get absolutely /enraged/ by the inaccuracies involved with comic book Thor," he said, moving to the couch once the DVD was in and hitting play on the remote once he could. He nestled deep into the cushions of his couch, his ex pression definitely less excited than with Captain America but happy all the same.

“Ahh, well, I do not see it as being important enough to get worked up over. What would be the point? Besides, myths and legends have long been interpreted in different ways by each new culture to come across them – it is simply the longest-running form of storytelling that there is, and it is natural for change to happen when different people are telling the story. Like Chinese Whispers, only not all by accident.” Ivan responded amiably, shrugging slightly. “I like mythology, but it has never been immutable – even when it has been written in stone. I look forward to seeing what this new telling has to offer, regardless of what has gone before.” He added, watching as the ti tle sequence began to play. Perhaps it was rather laid back of him to take this view, but it had never hurt him when people did this sort of thing, so why worry about it? If they had given Thor an entirely different personality and ability set, maybe he'd think it was silly, but he'd still watch it – even if it gave him the giggles. He doubted that it would be changed that much, though. After all, the basic Thor from the original myths was fairly good raw material for hero stuff, and there wasn't too much that could be messed up about him. Perhaps that was why he'd been chosen? Well, that and his hammer of doom. Ivan liked thinking of it as a hammer of doom – it amused him. Technically, it already had a name, but he didn't recall how to pronounce it.

"Well yeah. At least he still has Mjolnir, I guess," Alfred said with a smile. "I guess it'd be pretty weird for him not to have it because isn't that like, a big part of his mythos? Him and his hammer?" He pulled his knees up to his chest to rest his chin on them, looking at the television curiously. "Kind of like Loki with his magic and stuff. He wouldn't really be Loki without it." He looked over to Ivan for confirmation, honestly curious. "I mean that is kind of how it all works? They're gods, or...I guess in Loki's case he's a frost giant, but uh...still. Magic and all that is the main basis of who they are in myths and stuff right?"

Ivan nodded in agreement, privately glad of the reminder of how it was pronounced. He could recall how it was spelled, weird as it looked, but he kept forgetting how it sounded. "That is right, it is important to the characterisation of Thor in every tale of him I have read. Loki had a hand in its creation, you know - he is the reason the handle is a bit short. Loki also with the magic, as you say - he is often written of as changing his shape and such." Ivan responded, "I was not quite sure what type of giant Loki was, given that he is closely associated with fire, but you are quite correct. Off the top of my head, I cannot think of any tale revolving around them that would work without magic."
