Alfred smiled, settling down further into his couch to watch the movie, so much more calmly than he had been watching Captain America in fact. It was easier not to spoil much for this since he wasn't quite as passionate regarding Thor as he was Captain America. "Mhm. There are definitely mythological elements in this though, I'm pretty sure, so that's always a good thing seeing as he was a mythological god of thunder before he was a superhero in comic books," he said softly. "Oh oh and the guy who plays Loki, Tom Hiddleston, is really good at playing villains but he's actually a suuuper nice guy." He smiled wider. "I can show you clips of him later on if you want!"

((God I love how much of a sweetheart Tom Hiddleston is 8U))

((I don't know much about the guy, but I'll take your word for it. ^_^))

Ivan could tell that Alfred was less immersed in this movie, perhaps because he didn't identify with the main character quite as strongly, but it was clear that this was also a film that he liked a lot. "It is good to have some parallels, da - since there was already material, it makes sense to use some of it." He responded, "I think it would be a little strange if there wasn't anything relating to the myths at all, though it would be interesting to see why that was if they did that. Since Thor is on Earth in this, I wonder if he ever has problems with customs? After all, I do not think that official people would be very amused with his hammer. Oh, or does he not need to use a plane? It would still be funny, though." He mused aloud, before mulling over what Alfred had said about Loki and his actor. "Hmm? That might be nice. I haven't really encountered much involving him - I think."

Alfred smiled a bit, giggling quietly under his breath. "While, actually, when he ha his hammer Thor can fly on his own," he responded, looking up at Ivan with a smile. "He kind of twirls it then goes like he's throwing it but he keeps hold and he just kind of...flies. It's really weird in my opinion but I'm not the one who wrote that in," he said with a quiet laugh. "You might get to see it at some point in this movie, I don't really remember it too well," he said with a sheepish smile as he turned to look at the television again, tilting his head a bit. "To be honest in th actual movie I think the character of Darcy might be my favorite because in terms of personality she's a bit like me," he said, biting back a small yawn.

And then he remembered that he had popcorn and leaned forward to grab it, idly munching it as the movie played. "You've had actual movie theater popcorn, yeah? Because that's the best popcorn, so good."

Ivan blinked, momentarily dumbstruck by the mental image. "You mean to say, he throws the hammer without letting go, and it carries him? What a way to travel." He chuckled, "I wonder what would happen if there was something in the way - like a mountain? Could he change his course? It would be funny if that happened, though I suppose that Thor would not be as amused. Loki might be, though." He added, picturing a snickering Loki watching as Thor hurtled towards something. "Darcy? Which one is that? I will have to see what she is like. Is she a hero also?" Ivan asked, between mouthfuls of popcorn. "Ah, da, I have. Not recently, but I agree that it is nice. Popcorn that is covered in toffee is also nice, but I have not found that in a theater yet."

"Oh, uh, she's the friend of Jane. She calls Mjolnir Myuh-myuh or something like that," Alfred responded, laughing softly as well at the image of Thor ramming into a mountain with his hammer. "I'm not totally sure how his flight works, to be honest," he responded before he moved to point out Darcy once she showed up, which was a bit later on. "That one, that's her," he said with a grin. "She's a pretty dorky person and I dunno. She just reminds me of...well, me." He rested his chin on his knees, continuing to nibble on his popcorn. "Oh and for the toffee popcorn we can get that at the store next time we go if you want," Alfred offered, looking up at his friend curiously. "I've never really bothered to try it to be honest."

Myuh-myuh? Ivan mentally repeated, unable to keep from giggling. "That is pretty funny - I think I like her already~" He snickered, before reaching back into his bowl for more popcorn, wondering how Thor would react to that name. Ah, well, he'd find out soon enough. "So that is her? Ahh, I see." He responded, when his friend pointed Darcy out to him. He wasn't entirely clear on what dorkiness actually was, so he decided not to comment on the matter, in case he put his foot in his mouth. "That would be nice. I'm sure you will like it. If you don't, I could always eat yours for you~" He smiled, a mildly cheeky ex
pression crossing his features. "Is there anything you would want me to try? If it's food, there isn't much I don't like to eat."

"Well I'm already making French Toast and stuffed hamburgers tomorrow so there's nothing that immediately come to mind, really," Alfred responded, looking curious. "Well, unless you haven't had pizza before?" He looked over at Ivan. "I mean, I'm not really sure how far that spread or anything so I really don't know if you guys eat pizza in Russia or not," he said sheepishly. "If not though I might be able to make a pizza for us too! All I'd have to do is look up a recipe for it and we'd be good to go I think." He nodded a bit. "Maybe some fast food too if you'd be willing. It can be pretty greasy sometimes but man can it be really good too," he said with a wide grin.

"Pizza? I think I might have tried it once in Venice, but the pizza made in Italy is pretty different to what I've heard of American pizza. Thinner crusts, and lighter toppings, I think. Oh, and different varieties.” Ivan responded, considering the question Alfred had posed. “I would probably enjoy it, but it would also be a little bit new. It sounds interesting, and I think I would like to try the pizza that is made here some time, but it does not have to be right away if that is not convenient.” He continued, wondering what the thicker crust would be like. “As for fast food, I do not mind trying it. I might have to put my scarf away, so that it would not get greasy, but I like to try new things. What kind of fast food were you thinking of?” Ivan liked to have a bit of variety in his diet, and it was always interesting to sample new dishes, so he was looking forward to planning meals with his friend. Eating them, too. He'd not stuffed himself enough to be called a glutton since he was a small boy, when that sort of thing was more expected – small children being less likely to respect portion control – but he liked to eat all the same. “Ah, by the way, would it be alright to take a bath once we have finished watching movies? I would be fine with waiting for you to use it, I just wanted to check.” He asked, figuring that he should probably bring that up before he forgot.

Alfred chuckled. "Well it's not like I'd be doing it alone so really any time is convenient! You like to cook so I was thinking we could do it together," he said, stretching out his arms a bit. "And yeah there's a few different types of crust and stuff here for different cities, but it's all really good. As for the fast food, well, Burger King and McDonald's are usually the most popular," he responded. "And they have burgers and chicken sandwiches and all kinds of stuff so really you can choose just about anything you want." He smiled, only to bl
ink and laugh softly at Ivan's question. "You don't have to ask to take a man, Vanya. This is your house too as long as you live here, man," he said, reaching over to pat the other's shoulder. "Besides I usually take showers in the mornings. It's a great way to wake yourself up!"

Smiling, Ivan responded readily. "That sounds like fun, I think it will be nice to learn how to make pizza." It was good to know that it wouldn't inconvenience Alfred to teach him about American pizza. "I have not tried a thick crusted pizza before, so could we try making one like that?" He added, wondering what toppings his friend favoured. "I have visited the one with the clown before, but not the one with the crown." Ivan mused aloud, when the fast food chains were mentioned, finding amusement in referring to them with deions that were only a letter apart. "Ahh, thank you, I appreciate that." He replied, grateful, and feeling glad of the friendly gesture of contact. "I am not used to the idea of being able to take a bath in someone else's house yet - I guess that it hasn't quite sunk in that I can call this home now. I'm sure I'll get there, though, you're being very welcoming." It was good to know that he'd be able to soak, and he felt gratified by Alfred's statement that this place was for him, too.

((Part 38 of 43

so close to the end OAO

so intense much worry wow))

Alfred grinned. "We can totally try making a deep dish pizza!" he responded before laughing at the phrases Ivan chose to describe Burger King and McDonald's. "Oh and I guess to go with Burger King there's a place called Dairy Queen that has really good ice cream stuff," he added. "We can go there on really hot days and get ice cream cones!" He soon stretched out both his arms and legs to properly lounge on his couch. "Well hey it should only be natural for you to be comfortable here, yeah? I mean at the very least you are going to be here for an entire year so you should be able to feel like it's your home!"

((How long are the segments in the play-through you're watching, by the way? I agree that the tension seems to mount quite a lot - and all the Italy-feels as well. ;.;))

It was good to hear that he'd amused Alfred as well with his choice of words, Ivan reflected, smiling, and continuing to listen to his friend describe the various food outlets that came to mind. The film was almost over by now, and Ivan had found it quite entertaining. He had liked the way that they'd done the hammer, he had to give the props department credit for that, but he'd found the costumes rather amusing - particularly Loki's Hat of Pointy. "Ice cream? That sounds quite pleasant~ Is it near to here?" Ivan asked, his interest piqued. While it was true that warmth was where his heart lay, he was rather fond of ice cream as well. He wasn't quite sure whether he needed to dodge or not when Alfred stretched out, but his friend didn't hit him, so that was alright. "Da, you are right." He agreed, nodding. "I am quite glad that it is here, and with you - I have not noticed anything that I would rather be different~" He added, "I feel lucky~"

((Uh about 15 minutes per episode ;v;

And France and England had a bonding moment ;o; ))

"There's a Dairy Queen in the northern part of the city, yeah," Alfred responded as he crossed his arms behind him and smiled.  "Okay so since the second Thor movie takes place after Avenges I think watching the first Iron Man would be a good way to end our marathon, don't you agree?" he asked, smiling at his friend before a small blush dusted his cheeks and grinned. "Yeah, man, I know what you mean. I dunno if anyone else would have made a better housemate than you," he responded, ready to get up to change DVDs again. "To be honest I doubt anyone else could have been able to handle...all of this," he said with a laugh. "Or at least not as well as you've been able to."

((Sounds similar to the one I know. Is it Kyokoon64's playthrough?))

It was good to hear that there was such an ice cream outlet within an accessible range – it would have been disappointing to hear of it without being able to sample its wares. “Then we can go there when things get hot, da?” Ivan smiled, pondering the question of how many flavours it was likely to offer. “If that is fitting with the time line, then I see no problem with that. One of the men in the Captain America movie was Iron Man's father, wasn't he? I think I recall the name Stark being used, anyway. I could be mixing him up with someone else, though.” He answered, his tone mild and agreeable. Was that a hint of salmon hue tinting Alfred's cheeks? Had his endorsement caused that? Ivan supposed that it was understandable – he would have blushed as well, if it had been him. That didn't stop it from looking sweet, of course, but he could hardly say that without things becoming awkward. After all, he doubted that other college students made a habit of telling their friends how cute they looked when they blushed. Ivan's assumption that he would have flushed in the face of the same sort of praise proved correct when Alfred began to return the favour. “Ahh, well, it is no trouble. You are good company, da? At least, it seems so to me.” He mumbled, hints of rose creeping into his face as he spoke. “I have simply been responding as comes naturally to me, that is all.” He didn't really see why anyone would forgo Alfred's company, to be honest. Certainly, he was exuberant, and he had more energy than a squirrel full of coffee and sugar, but he was also someone who cared –  someone who shone like the summer sun. The man was a wellspring of friendliness and warmth, for goodness sakes! Didn't anyone else notice that?

((It was yeah OvO

aND THERE'S NO ENDING ;_; nooooooo))

Alfred smiled and moved to go retrieve the finished DVD from the DVD player so he could switch in Iron Man. "Yeah, Howard Stark," he responded before he grinned. "But there's a whole lot not in the movies that are in the comics so you can still read what I have of them if you want?" he offered, looking over his shoulder with a smile. "And then after Iron Man you can go take a bath and I can do what dishes we have while you soak, and then we can o to bed to have a full day of awesome tomorrow!"

Ivan gave Alfred a little smile in return, pleased to have gotten something right. “That would probably be interesting.” He agreed, nodding as he watched the disks being swapped. “I like to read, and the stories that you have shown me so far have been quite captivating, so I think I would like that.” It would be nice to see what sort of things had been left out of the movies, he reflected, and to see what was written about what the characters were thinking at different times. “That sounds good to me~ Ahh, but I should do the washing of dishes next time, so it is fair. If I am living here, and not just a guest, then I should pull my weight too.” He responded, feeling the need to put this point forward. He knew that Alfred saw him as a friend, not a freeloader, but he wanted to feel that he was helping all the same. “After all, it will be you who is cooking at breakfast time, da? By the way, what time should I be ready for breakfast in the morning? I do not want to keep you waiting for too long.” He added, his thoughts conjuring the image of the alarm clock in his suitcase into his mind as he spoke.

Alfred grinned. "Then how about whoever cooks, the other does the dishes?" he asked, feeling as though that would be a fair compromise. "That would be pretty fair I think, yeah?" He got back up to head back over to Ivan, settling down beside him to hit play on the Iron Man DVD, tossing the remote aside before he crossed his arms behind his head, legs stretched out in front of him. "I'm really glad you liked the movies so far," he said with a smile aimed at Ivan. "IT's been a while since I've actually been able to gush over superheroes and have someone really listen. Haven't found too many people in my classes who like comic books, really." He chuckled quietly. "Or if they do it's solely the movies so if I bring in a comic universe they either hate it or don't bother with it at all. I'm glad you're at least willing to give the comics a try."

Ivan agreed that such an arrangement sounded fair to him, watching as Alfred set the last movie going. He wondered where the remote had landed, but he figured that Alfred probably still knew where it was, and didn't worry about it. "I am glad that my interest in this subject is making you happy." He responded, returning the smile he was given. "I see this as an opportunity to immerse into a new world of storytelling, and the comics are all a part of that along with the movies. It only makes sense to sample both, da? Besides, I enjoy myths and legends, and those could be said to be similar things to this kind of story, but written by the ancient people. As for the listening, it is helping me to understand what I am encountering, so I think nothing of doing that." He added, shrugging slightly. It seemed common sense to listen to what Alfred had to say, from his perspective.

((Sorry this reply took so long I was drawing :'D))

Alfred reached out for his popcorn to set it on his lap, legs crossed at the ankle with one arm still bent behind his head. "Well at least my yammering can be good for something," he laughed, smiling as he ate his popcorn with his free hand. "Even if it is understanding a world of superheroes and...that's pretty much it really." He laughed quietly. "I don't really go on tangents about anything else. Not much else has really interested me enough to learn enough to go on extensive rants about either so I guess it's only fair that I can talk for hours about all of this huh?"

Ivan had to pause a moment before he responded, as his mouth was full. After he swallowed, he spoke up again. "Da, I understand. It interests you very much, and I find it intriguing also, so learning about it is fun~ It does not matter to me that it is the only thing you - ahh, phrasing - wax lyrical about. We all have things that we can go on and on about, it is not only you." Having said his piece, Ivan treated his friend to a sweet, simple smile, and promptly stuffed his face full of popcorn again. Tony Stark seemed to be about to do something, so Ivan returned his attention to the screen, though he remained ready to listen if Alfred had anything else to say.
