Alfred looked up from stroking his feline when asked the question regarding the drying, smiling in response. "Yep!" he responded rather happily, grinning at his friend. "He may still be kind of damp for a little bit but that's fine. He won't get sick or anything since it's warm." He lightly bopped his cat's nose, causing her to sneeze lightly and stare up at him as though highly unamused. Alfred laughed. "Oh come off it, Penny," he said, rubbing behind one of her ears. "You know full well by now what I'm like," he stated before he wandered back over to Ivan, glancing at the sink while he dried off the cat. "Man that cat was dirty," he stated as he blinked and tilted his head a little bit. Hair and dirt both still stuck to the sides of the sink where Vodka had been washed, and honestly Alfred was mildly amused. "He has got to feel tons better after that."

Ivan was pleased to hear that he was doing well, and he responded with a quick smile, putting the towel to one side when he was done drying. "That is good to know." He sighed, relieved by the assurance that Vodka wouldn't get sick just like that. "Ahahaha, look at his fluffiness! You were right about cats that have been wet and then dried. Pff, such poofy!" He giggled, regarding the sight that met his eyes upon releasing the tomcat from the towel. Vodka was a fuzzy mess, but considerably cleaner, and he did not bear quite so much matted fur as he had previously. He did, however, look like a fursplosion had tossed his pelt around, and it was quite funny. Alfred's antics with Penny were also amusing - after all, how could booping a cat's nose not be amusing?
Vodka regarded this scene with a form of passive bemusement, before turning his gaze back up to the humans as though to ask who was the wiseguy, and request that they get on with making him presentable already. He was hungry, and he looked like he'd been dragged around backwards, forwards, sideways and more, from the look of his pelt. At least the queen was less likely to pile scorn on him now, seeing as he was less likely to reek. Seeking assurance on this score, he turned to look at Penny, to see what her reaction might be. As far as he could tell, she was pretty much in charge here, and established as a cat of the house - achieving an accord with her would be important.
"He certainly was... I hope that he does feel better~" Ivan responded, beginning to tease Vodka's pelt back into some semblance of order with gentle stroking, so that brushing it wouldn't be any more uncomfortable than necessary. After all, it would be easier to tell where the mats were if he didn't look like he'd been wind-tossed. "Should we start on his mats when he has had a chance to get used to the idea of being clean, or now? I just heard a little gurgle - I think he is hungry." He added, while contemplating what might be the best way to get rid of the mess in the sink.

Alfred laughed softly. "IT's always entertaining seeing what in the world their fur will do depending on what you do," he responded, Penny's purring growing louder as she stood up to step over, rubbing against Alfred to gain more passive petting before she stopped in front of Vodka and leaned forward to sniff at him again. Deciding he no longer smelled like a trash can, she moved to gently butt her head against Vodka's, a friendly gesture. The first time he acted out, though, he would be punished accordingly.
Alfred pulled out his phone to snap a quick picture, grinning as he leaned over to show Ivan. "I think we should let him eat first," he responded. "Make him as content as possible before we start cutting stuff out of his fur," he murmured. "And with that said we should..." The he paused and blinked before furrowing his brows. "Did we get him a food dish?" he asked, looking up at his Russian housemate. "I mean if not we can just use a bowl in case Penny's not too keen on sharing hers," he murmured, rubbing he back of his neck. He honestly could not remember whether or not they'd gotten him a food dish. He knew they got him a litter box because they were big cats and both wouldn't fit in one.

"Mmm, it looks like~" Ivan replied, agreeing in amusement. He watched as the purring Penny drew nearer, wondering what she had in mind, and waited to see what she would do. Vodka, for his part, was also curious, and sniffed her in return. He could pick up her scent more clearly now that his own was not clogging things up, and it was quite pleasant to have the full gamut of smell-detection back again. He responded to Penny's gesture of friendliness by licking her on the nose, then lightly butting his head against hers in return. As far as he could tell, things were going pretty well.
"Baawww, that is very sweet~" Ivan responded, looking at the picture his friend had taken. "What you say makes sense. I think I would probably want food before a haircut as well, if I had been a street kitty." He added, before musing over Alfred's query. "Hmmm, I think we did forget... We were worrying more about how to wash him and get rid of the mats - and also about where he would go to the loo. If bowls are alright, then that should do for now, though." He answered, peering back across to where they'd laid stuff out before in order to check. "Nyet, no food bowl." He confirmed, shrugging. "No water bowl either."

"Oh, well they can share a water bowl," Alfred responded as he moved to head to the kitchen. The clattering of cabinets caught Penny's attention and she looked over towards the source of the sound, ears perking. She meowed softly at Vodka before hopping down from the counter to trot towards the kitchen, arriving just as Alfred was beginning to fill up her bowl and a random bowl he'd grabbed from the cabinets.
Alfred chuckled quietly, stroking his hand over Penny's back before he set the food bag to the side. "We can get those the next time we have to go to the shops," he responded as he hummed softly. "Okay! So, wait here and I'll be right back with DS," he told Ivan, grinning. He turned to head into his room, digging through his things until he was able to find an ice white 3DS, a couple of games that he didn't bother looking at the titles for, and the charger. He looked the DS over to make sure nothing was missing before he nodded and moved to head back to Ivan, smiling. "There! I found it," he said happily. "Hope you don't mind the, uh...well, the lack of color," he said, rubbing the back of his neck lightly. "It was the only one left when I went to get it. But I mean you can always put stickers and stuff on it."

Ivan nodded, pleased that water dishes wouldn't be an issue, and watched as Vodka leaped down to follow Penny. He followed the cats into the kitchen, watching Vodka's eyes grow wide and intent as he scented food. The tufty black tom's ears had swivelled in the direction of the mild commotion, and he stalked closer with clear intent. It was obvious that he only barely managed to restrain himself from trying to eat out of the bowl before Alfred was done filling it. Once it was fair game, though, the famished kitty began to plough through his food as though he thought it might disappear.
"Da, it should not be too much trouble." Ivan agreed amiably, giving Vodka a stroke along his spine while the feline stuffed his face, before registering that he was being told to await something, though he hadn't quite caught the tail end of the instruction before his friend had ventured off. "Hahh, you look like you needed that, don't you?" He murmured to his cat, hoping that there wouldn't be a spray of cat food all over the floor as a result. When Alfred returned, he looked up again to see what was going on. "Ahh, I see that you found the things that go with it as well~" He stated, feeling a little pampered, what with all the things he'd been given lately. "It does not matter that it is pale - I, too, have that tendency, so I match it quite well. Besides, as you say, I can sticker it, da?" He responded, smiling. Though he might have chosen a different hue, now that he had been given this one, he would not have swapped it for any colour version - gifts were important and valuable to him. "Ahh, what games are these?"

Alfred smiled gently, rubbing the back of his neck. "Yeah, you can put whatever stickers you want on there," he responded. "We might be able to find sunflower stickers or something if you want?" he offered before he looked down at the games and cocked his head slightly. "Uh, a Legend of Zelda game and a Pokemon game," he responded. "I never really played either of them so you can do what you want to with them," he said with a smile. "I can show you how to play them if you want me to," he added, giving his friend a grin before he moved to go find a plugin to plug in the charger, hooking it up to the DS.
Honestly he may or may not have been working to find an excuse to lay against Ivan, a subconscious thing that he wasn't totally aware of. To show someone how to play a game on a small system like that you had to sit rather close, after all, and that was kind of what Alfred was hoping. He'd already discovered that Ivan's scent was pleasant, and he was certainly comfortable enough to lay against. Not to mention he was rather warm and feeling that close to him felt...well, it felt nice. Chased away fears that Alfred wasn't even aware he had.

((I didn't know what it stood for either... Oh well, I do now. :3))
"If the stickers are bright and cheery, I will probably like them - especially if they are cute." Ivan responded, enjoying the soft smile adorning his friend's features. "Sunflower ones would be nice, but other types would also - I do not mind a bit of variety." He added, feeling the need to assure Alfred that not everything had to be sunflowers with him. That would have the potential to turn rather inconvenient, after all. "I have not played a game with Zelda in before, though I have heard of such being good... The name is interesting, so I think I would like to learn that one first." He decided aloud, before considering what else his friend had said.
"Ohh, I would like that~" He responded with a smile of his own, "It would be more fun than learning them on my own~" He could scarcely believe his luck. He'd been wondering whether he should ask, partly because he wasn't as used to this particular type of game as he was to others, and partly because of the proximity it would inevitably mean. He would be right next to Alfred, close enough to feel his warmth, listening to him explain things. Ivan quite liked the American's voice, though he couldn't quite put his finger on what about it caused this response from him, and he found that it was rather soothing when his friend draped himself on him - like a more passive version of a hug. His warmth, his scent, his voice - even his presence itself - all made Ivan feel safe and at ease with himself, and he was looking forward to that feeling.

Alfred nodded slightly. "Then I guess we'll see what kind of stickers we can find!" he said happily as he wandered over to his couch to sit down after grabbing the other games as well, near the armrest so he could access the charger more easily. He turned the DS on and smiled, looking up at Ivan to wait for him to join him, automatically nestling rather close once he had the Russian beside him. "Alright, it's really not too hard to learn," Alfred said softly as he loaded up his save file to start wandering around, explaining how different things worked and what to do in regards to what obstacles he knew how to pass, rather enjoying himself since he was so close to Ivan. Maybe he could stay like this to watch Ivan play too, to help him along if he needed it.

"Da, that sounds nice..." Ivan responded quietly, trailing off a little as he realised that he didn't really have anything more to say on the topic of stickers. Instead of trying to figure out something else to say, he followed Alfred over to the couch, setting himself down next to his smiling friend. The ease with which the American snuggled up to him made him feel as though he had a mildly stunned electric eel wriggling about inside him, and he didn't quite know what to make of that, or the peculiar mental imagery he'd come up with. It was warm and pleasant, though, and he smiled, breathing a faint sigh of contentment as his ex pression softened. "That is good to know. I am sure you will teach me well, you seem to like games a lot~" He replied, though his thoughts had meandered to the vague impression that, if they were much closer, he would be able to hear Alfred's heartbeat. Thankfully, his friend's file loaded up before his brain could take him on too much of a wild goose chase, so he avoided zoning out. Instead, he got to listen to the American's cheerful voice telling him how things worked, which was nice. He asked the occasional question as well, when one occurred to him, and he felt that he would probably be able to handle this game. He didn't move when he said so, however, as he had no intention of giving the impression that he wanted Alfred to move. He didn't want that at all.

After a little bit longer Alfred saved his file and looked over at Ivan, smiling a little bit as he backed out to the main menu, offering out the DS for the other to take. "Your turn," he said with a smile. "I think I've explained the basics of what you need to know, and I can help you get through a dungeon or two, but I never got very far," he said with a soft laugh, his head ending up lightly resting against Ivan's shoulder. "But solving puzzles is always easier when you have more than one person thinking with you, right" He turned his gaze back to the DS, his hands twitching lightly as a flashback of emotion washed over him suddenly. What had triggered it this time? More than one person thinking on puzzles and how to solve them..resonated something within him, something frightening and sad, and he almost instinctively nestled a bit closer to his Russian friend, blinking as he worked to fight off this familiar yet foreign feeling. Puzzles had never bothered him before...

((I'm glad you think so~ The yellow stuff is supposed to be a sunflower field, but I didn't have the patience to draw out a whole bunch of flowers, so it's kind of basic. Also, I may not have the height ratio right, but that was the first time I managed to draw clasped hands in the first place, so I'm pretty happy with it. :D))
Ivan took hold of the DS when it was offered to him, gently retrieving it and returning his friend's smile. "Spasiba~ I'm sure that what you have showed me will be useful. If I don't get far quickly, that will be okay, though. I will still be able to play it, even if it is not fast - I am in no hurry." He responded, feeling rather laid back. He had a fun game to play, advice from a friend experienced in the ways of games, and said friend was nestled alongside him all snug and cosy. It was delightful. He was caught rather off-guard by Alfred's next remark, though, and he shivered slightly, blinking. A rather desolate sensation, anguished and bereaved, had swept through him in just an instant, and he felt emotionally at sea. He had no way of explaining what he'd just felt, that odd surge of feeling that had shattered his comfortable mood, but he could see that Alfred's hands were trembling - had he felt it too?
"... Da." He managed, answering almost automatically. He felt reassured when the American drew closer still, and he listened gratefully to the sound of his friend's breathing, letting go of the DS with one hand in order to loop his arm around Alfred and back to the DS again - after all, it seemed that they both needed a hug. Why the sound of breathing in particular would be soothing to him, he didn't know - and he wasn't sure that he wanted to know. All he knew was that he was not alone, that Alfred was there with him, and that he still had a game to play. Perhaps he would feel better after playing for a while? There was only one way to find out.

Alfred curled into having Ivan's arm around him, his arms soon moving to wrap around the Russian as well. It seemed like they had both felt that emotional tsunami, and since Ivan was starting to play he ended up resting his head against Ivan's chest, closing his eyes to listen to the heartbeat he could hear now. So much relief and grief all at once, just from listening to the steady rhythm of his friend's heart, washed over him and try as he might he wasn't able to stop his eyes from welling up with tears. Why were such simple things having such profound effects on them? Puzzles with multiple people shouldn't frighten him, listening to a heartbeat shouldn't make him cry like he person whose heartbeat it was could have been dead to him at one time or another. Did it have to do with how they had practically been magnetized to one another?
Was fate just being cruel to the both of them, or was it repairing something that was lost long ago?
((Hahah yeah hands are hard. I try to avoid them as much as possible lol))

((That's why they've got their other hands in their pockets~ ;3))
When Alfred's arms enfolded him in return, Ivan gave his friend a squeeze that was meant to be reassuring, for himself as well as for the person he was cuddling. The weight of the American's head on his chest was consoling, and the feeling of the other male breathing made him feel a little better. That they were close enough for Ivan to feel the movement produced by his friend's respiration seemed to have become more than something pleasantly relaxing, in the wake of that bizarre shock that had jangled their nerves. It was as though his mind was seeking assurance that Alfred was, indeed, still alive, still warm and bright, still... there. He was experiencing a bubbling mixture of panic, protectiveness and possessiveness, determined that nobody and nothing could take his sunshine away... but he didn't know what was behind that feeling, nor what to do about it. After all, the only others in the house were the cats, and those were just adorable fuzzbutts.
After a few moments, he felt something drip from his chin, and he realised that he was crying – and that there was actually a similar slight wetness seeping through his shirt from where his companion's face met his torso. It was a bittersweet realisation. On the one hand, the tears that their shared disorienting emotion blast had released were evidence that something was wrong, as though the shade of something fearful and dire had whispered across them unseen. On the other, the very droplets that so embodied their disquiet also indicated that they were still there, still alive and able to weep, and thus – on some level – a source of solace. None of this occurred to Ivan on a conscious level, for all that it affected him. His surface thoughts were more occupied with the issue of how best to cheer Alfred up, while he himself still needed cheering of his own. He didn't really feel as though he could sing at that moment, nor did he know what he could say, so he simply held his friend close and hummed as he played. He meandered through Candle On The Water, soft and sweet and slow, not really paying attention to what it was that he was humming. So long as it was soothing, it didn't really matter.

Alfred's fingers curled gently into Ivan's shirt as he sniffled softly, wishing he knew what was causing all of this emotional turmoil that sparked randomly between the two of them. The sound of IVan's soft humming helped to calm him down enough to begin to recognize the tune, the American taking a moment to compose himself before beginning to shakily sing along to the soft melody that Ivan had picked out, despite his voice being slightly muffled by his chosen position. Knowing the song actually proved to help calm Alfred down that much more, though Ivan's choosing the song was a little bit odd to him. He didn't mind, though. It was completely soft and reassuring and wholly comforting to him.
"I'll be your candle on the water....my love for you will always burn," he sang softly, curling closer to the other as he gave another soft sniffle. "II know you're lost and drifting, but the clouds are lifting...don't give up, you have somewhere to turn..." He smiled a little bit, lifting a hand to rub at his eyes before he looked up Ivan, feeling strangely comfortable singing the song to him, like it could have been done in some form before, close to this situation but not exact.
"I'll be your candle on the water, 'til every wave is warm and bright. My soul is there beside you, let this candle guide you...soon you'll see a golden stream of light..."

((It's like a slightly sniffly reprise of their game earlier...))
The curling of fingers into his shirt didn't surprise Ivan, it had happened before, and he smiled a little when he felt it. The smile was only an echo compared with others he'd managed that day, but it was better than nothing. He hadn't chosen this song deliberately, having hit upon the first thing that came to mind when he searched for something reassuring, but it felt almost as though he'd... well, he wasn't sure. It was slightly surprising to him when he heard Alfred's voice, slightly muffled and wobbly, beginning to pick up the tune, but it brought back thoughts of the songs they'd sung out among the sunflowers, and that was soothing - as was the singing itself. Also, Alfred's breathing seemed to have become more regular, less stressed, which was good.
Even though he knew it was only the words that were written for the song, Ivan couldn't help but feel tingly inside when the warm American in his arms sang those lines to him, and it only tickled more when Alfred looked up at him with those eyes so blue. It was almost as though he was attached to an emotional yoyo, to be honest, and it was rather confusing. Even with the weird stabs of grief and fear, though, it was worth it. "A cold and friendless tide has found you, don't let the stormy darkness pull you down." He crooned quietly, picking it up from the last line Alfred had sung. His friend had wanted to sing duets with him, after all, and he felt less as though his voice would crackle now. "I'll paint a ray of hope around you, circling in the air, lighted by a prayer..." It seemed as though, for all that there was the potential for awkward carried in the lyrics, this had been the right thing to do - he felt a lot better in the midst of this music, however tentatively it had been begun, and he could tell that Alfred was similarly buoyed. As far as Ivan was concerned, that was what mattered.

Alfred smiled as Ivan seemed to be beginning to relax as well, though his fingers remained curled within the fabric of his friend's shirt. He may be calming down, but he still needed a sense of security to latch onto until all of this completely passed over. The singing helped, thanks to the soft, gentle, soothing song that Ivan had chosen to begin humming. Despite all of the possibilities for potential akwardness, Alfred found he felt none. It felt...almost natural to be singing something like this with his Russian friend. It felt like it was more along the lines of something he should have been doing all along.
He sifted his position so his head was against Ivan's shoulder, his blue eyes still focused up onto the other as he continued in turn from where Ivan left off.
"I can be your candle on the water. This flame inside of me will grow. Keep holding on, you'll make it. Here's my hand," he lifted a hand from Ivan's shirt, palm up so Ivan would be able to take hold, "so take it. Look for me reaching out to show, sure as rivers flow....I'll never let you go," he sang softly, tilting his head a little bit.

Ivan still drew comfort from the fingers curled into his shirt, and the closeness to Alfred that he had right then, but the effect of singing with his friend was making itself known. He was being hugged, clutched like a teddy bear, and that made him feel... needed. It also gave him a sense of security, of sureness that nothing could harm him for as long as the American held him close. He was relieved to see that there was no awkwardness hanging over them, or peering up at him through his friend's sky-tinted eyes, and his smile became a little stronger as Alfred took up the song again. He didn't mind that the other's head no longer rested on his chest - he could still feel it against him, and Alfred didn't seem to be in any hurry to get up. Besides, he could see his companion's beautiful eyes this way - not that he was ready to call them such aloud.
It felt so... right to be serenading one another, whether for comfort or not, and to be enfolded in one another's arms like this. Ivan couldn't quite tell why, but this was one thing he wasn't going to argue with. By now, he'd ceased paying attention to the game he was playing, leaving his character standing around doing nothing, in favour of Alfred. It seemed as though the American's voice had grown a little less shaky, which was good, and Ivan didn't hesitate when he was offered a hand to take hold of. He enclosed it gently in his own, without unwrapping himself from Alfred, drawing comfort and reassurance from the lines his friend sang. Even if it were only the song, which he was not all too sure it was, it felt so good to be told that someone would not let him go. "I'll never let you go..." He responded in hushed tones, delivering the line's reprise, and fighting the temptation to plant a kiss amongst Alfred's sunbeam locks. "I'll be your candle on the water..." Even though it was just a cute Disney song, it felt like a promise - like something of deep importance to him - and Ivan inwardly resolved that he would keep it.

Alfred curled his fingers around the other's hand gently, but firmly, continuing to look up at Ivan as various other emotions began to swim through him, emotions that this time were more positive, more recognizable from earlier that day, when they had been singing in the sunflower field and he had felt this same stirring. This time, he finally decided to let go of his reservations and leaned up to gently, carefully, place a soft kiss against his friend's lips, the hand not being grasped moving to gently cup Ivan's cheek. More emotions bloomed within in, almost immediately warming him to his very core as he ended up leaning even closer. It felt like he could never really be close enough to satisfy this desire he had to curl up with the larger male, to stay near him and just...be.
More tears nearly escaped, but he held them back. The last thing he wanted was for Ivan to possibly believe that he was sad or upset, when in fact he was not. It felt perfectly right, perfectly natural for him to be giving a kiss to his best friend, and honestly Alfred wasn't sure if he wasnted to question this one. It was too nice, too...perfect to possibly be anything other than something good, something wonderful and oddly enough, almost pure and innocent. Compared to what, he wasn't sure, but he knew it was a feeling he wanted to feel more than he wanted to feel like he was needed.
He wanted to feel loved as deeply as the feelings that washed over him.

((... ' //// ' So cute~!))
Ivan's smile warmed a little when he felt Alfred's fingers laying claim to his hand, as though to tell him that he wouldn't let go, and he noticed that there were hints of... something flickering through his friend's lazuline eyes. Come to think of it, hadn't that happened once before that day? Alfred was moving now, and Ivan wasn't sure what was going on, uncertainty peeking through in his ex pression, and a peculiar warm feeling inside that seemed to be telling him something that he didn't understand. He was just about so say something, to ask what was happening, when he felt soft, sweet lips touching his. Ivan flushed, quite considerably, his eyes widening as Alfred kissed him. For a moment or two, his mental processes could be best described as !! - with little to no coherence, but he made no motion to break away. The American's palm had come to rest against his cheek, and it struck a chord with Ivan - it made him feel cared for. As for the kiss itself, well, it was a surprise to say the least, but it filled the startled Russian with what felt like liquid joy.
It was just as well that his lips were occupied, as he would have been totally tongue-tied even if he had the opportunity to speak. When Alfred leaned in further, Ivan abandoned the DS on the sofa in order to reach out with the hand this freed up, and gently stroke the hair on the back of Alfred's head. It was as soft as he'd thought it would be, and it was nice. Unlike his friend, Ivan could not hold back the tears that made a reappearance with the emotions fizzing inside him, and he felt them edging their way down his face as he basked in the warmth of this feeling inside. He couldn't say why this was happening, or why it felt so right, but it was like water to a desert traveller - there was no way that he could not cry, not when he was feeling this way. He felt... loved. Not alone. Not out in the cold, ignored or shunned. Loved. He didn't want this moment to end, not when it contained so much more happiness than he thought he could ever deserve.
