Liam shut off the music and jumped out of the truck, "Don't you know its dangerous to interrupt a man when he's jamming?" Liam teased. He walked up to the house and walked in. His parents were in the kitchen and he waved to them, "Hey, me and Kat are going to go hang out upstairs."
His father dismissed him with a wave of his hand. Liam might as well have said he was going to rob a bank for all they cared. His walk up the stairs made him run into his little sister.
"Hey Lee, hey Kat!" Leslie chirped. She wrinkled her nose, "Liam you need a shower." she said.
Liam stuck out his tongue at her, "And you need a face transplant!" But he had to agree with her, he definitely needed a shower. He could smell the bonfire from the night before on his shirt, "Hey, wanna steal us some food from downstairs? Me and Kat are gonna chill in my room and mom banned me from taking food up here."
Leslie rolled her eyes, "I guess." She looked at Kat as Liam continued on to his bathroom to shower, "What kind of snacks do you want?" She asked.

Kat nodded toward Liam's parents as they walked by them, even when she knew they really could have cared less who or what Liam was bringing into the house with him. If her parents were sucky parents, his were even suckier. At least hers had to the decency to avoid her and make interaction less painful. Liam's parents were painfully around and still didn't give him the time of day. Kat, being an only child, adored Liam's sister as if she were her own. So her lips twitched into a smile when Leslie's nose wrinkled and she told Liam he needed to shower.
"Have any crackers or anything?" She didn't want anything sweet if they were going to drink and whatnot. Food was a good idea too, because the cinnamon bun in her tummy had already been broken down. Her stomach grumbled for more food. "Whatever you can sneak up here," she said and ruffled the top of her head before heading into Liam's room. He was in the shower already so she just plopped onto his bed and stretched out, much like a cat.

Leslie came skipping in with bags of chips and a fresh bag of popped popcorn in her arms. "Here you guys go." she said with a smile. She looked toward Liam's bathroom door as she heard the shower stop.
Liam got out of the shower and walked into his room with just a towel around his waist. He wrinkled his nose at Leslie, "you're still here?" he teased.
Leslie snorted dramatically, "I was just leaving." she said, "Don't forget, you promised to give me a ride to school tomorrow!"
Liam chuckled. His sister was a freshman, and he knew it made her feel cool to have a senior brother, especially when that senior just happened to be quarterback of the football team, "you will probably be in the truck before I even wake up!"
Leslie giggled and walked toward the door, "Not my fault you're a putz! And put some clothes on! This isn't an Abercrombie and Fitch photoshoot you know!" She called over her shoulder before shutting the door. Liam laughed and shook his head, walking over to the dresser and digging through it for clothes.
"Did she bring anything good?" He asked Kat.

Leslie had tossed the food onto Kat's stomach when she walked in. The older girl kept her eyes closed as the two siblings engaged in playful banter. One fingertip twirled a lock of her dyed-red hair. "Did she bring anything good?" Kat opened up one eye to look down at the food. "Oh, yes," she said, eyeing the chips. Salt and vinegar, her favorite. The bag opened with a pop and Kat fished a few out from the bag.
She glanced over Liam's way and almost choked on her food. Of course she'd seen him like this before, having thought nothing of it, but still...it surprised her. Her gaze raked down the hard lines of his muscular back, the gentle slope of his shoulders that she knew made for the perfect headrest. Stop it, stop it, stop it, she thought and let out an exasperated "ugh."

Liam turned to look at Kat with a raised eyebrow, "you alright?" he asked. He walked back to his bathroom door, shutting it before he put on his boxers and gym shorts. He skipped the shirt, since he wasn't going anywhere, and walked back out, tossing his towel into the hamper.
"Give me that popcorn." he demanded, snatching the bag and tearing it open. Liam grabbed a whole handful and shoved it into his moth before sitting on the bed and grabbing the remote for his TV. |

"Yeah--fine," she said and rubbed her eyes. She ran her hand through and shook out her hair. When Liam came back out, she handed over the popcorn and kicked him in the leg for being rude about it. "You're a heathen," she said matter-of-factly as he chewed the wad of popcorn he'd shoved into his mouth. "Ahem." She raised a brow and made a gesture with her hand. "Weren't you going to get your guest something to drink?"

Liam shook his head, "your legs aren't broken." he teased, leaning over the edge of the bed and grabbing a bottle of Jack Daniels from underneath it. He set the bottle next to her, "as far as mixers, I think there's some coke in the mini fridge." His room was sort of like a dorm-room. He bought all of the stuff so he wouldn't have to deal with his parents if he didn't want to.

"Nope. I'm too upset to make this any less potent," she said, stressing the 'p' in potent as she unscrewed the cap to the drink. With care so she wouldn't accidentally spill any of it on his bed, or herself for that matter, she poured a bit of it into the cap. Once rightening the bottle, she tossed the whiskey back into her throat. Her eyes teared up as she swallowed, but the shot was already spreading warmth through her.
"What're we watching?" she asked as she scooted up next to him. She filled the cap once again and emptied it into her mouth. Then she tipped the bottle Liam's way.

Liam grabbed the bottle andd took a swig, "that's how you drink whiskey." he teased, flipping through channels. "Well I picked the movie last night so it's your turn," he said, offering the remote. He took another swig of whiskey. It was harsh, but he liked the burn. He got up and walked to the fridge, grabbing a cola and taking a drink to chase it down.

"Is that a challenge?" Kat said and swiped the bottle back from him as he went to stand up. She folded her legs together and let it rest in the gap on her lap, turning her attention toward the remote. "Ooooh look, the Notebook," she said and chose the channel. It was the sort of emotional tearjerker most guys loathed and Kat grinned to herself as she tipped the bottle back against her lips, grimacing at the fire that swelled in the back of her throat.

"Like ohmygawd Ryan Gosling is like, a tooooootal babe!" Liam said, mimicking the way the cheerleaders talked. He made sure to lock the door then made his way back to the bed. He took another drink of his soda as he sat down, "You know, I actually read this book once." he said.

"Shut up," Kat said and bumped her shoulder into Liam's. She rolled her eyes and flashed a grin at Liam before turning her attention back to the movie, which was considerably hard considering her shirtless model-perfect best friend was sitting right next to her, skin touching, lips pressing against the neck of the same whiskey bottle. "The sad life of Katherine Green," she muttered and drowned the words out with another swig.

"The sad life? PLEASE!" Liam snorted, "You get to hang out with yours truly whenever you want, how could you ever be sad?" he teased with a wink, "If I'm ever sad, looking in a mirror usually brightens my day." He grabbed the popcorn again and shoved another handful into his mouth, glancing sideways at Kat with a small smile on his face.

Kat was already starting to feel the sluggish effects that came with alcohol. Her anxiety slipped away with some of the acuteness to her senses and she was able to conjure a loose grin on her lips. "You're too vain for your own good," she said, leaning against Liam as she said so. "And if ya haven't noticed," she said and laughed. "My life kinda sucks at the time being. I'm not complaining, just stating a fact. There's hope in the city." Her slightly drunken ramble was cut short when she went to take another sip from the bottle.

Liam slung an arm casually around Kat's shoulders, "Vain? Or do I just have perfect vision? I'm gonna go with the vision. And cities look gross." He concluded with a nod. He reached around and took a long swig from the bottle, "But I do agree, this town has got to go."

"Mmm, well maybe you do have a right to be vain. You're sorta gorgeous." Her little slip went unnoticed to her and was followed by a short giggle. Her body seemed smaller up against Liam, with his arm slung over her shoulders. She liked the fact that she could nestle right up against him, maybe even draw her legs up over his lap. Her fingers greedily wrapped around the neck of the bottle and she took another draw from it. Unlike Liam who was 'ginormous,' as she liked to say, and purely made of muscle, Kat was a bit below average in appropriate size and body proportions so the alcohol had much more of an effect on her than him.
"Won't you miss me while I'm gone?" she asked, propping her chin on his shoulder. Another few inches and she could brush her lips against his jaw, another few his mouth. The temptation nagged at her, danced around in her eyes.

Liam shrugged, "Oh I'm sure you would miss me more." he said winking at her, "since 'I'm kind of gorgeous' and all." he teased. He felt a little hazy, but it was hardly a buzz, "Besides, my couch will always be open if you want to get away from the noise sometime." he offered. |
