As the foul smoke from his cigarette come out from his parted lips he leaned forward, letting out a low whistle. "Well, would you look at that." He said pulling the girls hand closer to his face so his haze green eyes could examine the rock on her finger. "Ivy League finally worked that stick out of his wazoo and stepped up, congratz."

The girl shook her head and pulled her hand back. "Gee Dean, you don't need to look that closely, the last thing I need is others talking when I'm about to get married." she said, her eyes scanning around the station trying to catch somewhere watching.

Dean laughed and shook his head. "Oh relax." he said as he took in another pull of his cig. "I swear, you worry to much. What will Ivy League do anyways? Beat me up?" He said exhaling the smoke, before a look of mock fear crossed his handsome features. "Oh I'm so scared."

"Dean!" the girl said reaching over to knock him with her hand. He quickly side stepped the attack and grinned. She blushed furiously and looked down, causing him to grin even more. "No, I'm really happy for you Annie, I'm sure Darla would have loved him." He said, keeping his tone even.

Annie looked up at him, unsure. "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely," he grinned placing his hand onto her desk and leaning closer. "She'd like him so much she try to steal him away."

Her mouth dropped open and a lookt a brief anger come over her. "Dean Lockheart you good for-"

He jumped back as the angry girl took another swing at him. Grinning he raised his hands as in a sign of defeat. "Hey I'm just saying." he laughed stepping back. "Don't you have some filing to do anyways?"

She nodded as pushed away from the table, not before sticking her tongue out at him the way a child would. He shook his head and turned, giving another cop a clap on the back as he headed upstairs towards the office. He ran a hand through his light brown hair and made his way over to his desk.

It was nice talking to Annie, he had gotten the girl the job here as the secretary, and she was doing a good work. Her boyfriend didn't quite like the thought of her working around all these men though. She was also a welcomed distraction from some of the stuff he had to look into. The public didn't know how gruesome some of these crimes really were. With a sigh he lowered himself into his chair and looked down at the paperwork on his desk. Feeling up his dark grey suit for a pen, his hands finally found one and he leaned over and squinted at the paper. This was definately the worst part of the job. Letting the cigarette rest in his lips, he realized that days this he wished someone had killed someone else. Though once they solved that case, there would even more paperwork to fill out.

He spun around in his chair to look at his partner at the desk across from him. Moving the cigarette from his lips he called over. "Please tell me that something came up so I don't have to fill all this out."
