Zane let out a sight of relief. At least that was one less thing to worry about. He gave her a childish look and crossed his arms over his chest. "I think not, thank you. The last thing I want to do is get back into that lake." He said with a frown. He had always been slightly afraid of the water and had no intentions of willingly learning how to swim.

"Maybe you do need a little motivation," She said and raised her hands in a mock gesture. She grinned, but her markings weren't lighting and her eyes werent' changing. It was just a joke. She put her hands down. "Let's go," She said impatiently.

Zane flinched slightly at her joke but pushed to mock-threat out of his mind. He knew, or at least hoped, she wouldn't. "All right already." he said and started going down the path he remembered leading to the lake. Even thought the sky was dark, the path was still bright from the glow of the plants.

She followed in step next to Zane. The plants seemed to glow a light green and as they stepped, the gra.ss seemed to light up underneath them. She snuck a glance at him and looked at his perfectly angled face and his bottomless eyes. She looked away and continued down the path in silence. Soon, they reached the lake. It had only taken a few minutes for them to travel back down the trail that led to the camp. She looked out at the crystal clear water again. The clearing was smaller than she remembered, but it would do. "Okay, so how do you suggest we do this?" She asked, wanting his opinion. Different thought were already going through her head. She wouldn't try anything big. Maybe a stick and see if she could lift it from different lengths away from it. -fail post XD-

Zane had felt Taylor's gaze on him, but it was quickly forgotten once they reached the lake and she asked him her question. He glanced around the clearing, trying to find something that would spark an idea. He found it, a small pebble and went to pick it up. He walked back over to Taylor and held it out for her. "Maybe you should try levitating this over the palm of your hand." he suggested. "It should be easy enough to start off with."

Taylor shrugged and grabbed the pebble from his hand. She held it out in her outstretched palm and tried to concentrate on the pebble. Just concentrate on it lifting in her hand. She didn't feel anything different and she opened her eyes to see the pebble still in her hand. She frowned. "I don't think it's-" She broke off. "Oh. What happened before was that I had a sense of panic. The pants were falling off the edge and I just panicked. I think that's what triggered it," She said. "I think we'll have to use that until I can control it."

Zane frowned. He had another idea, but it wasn't exactly safe and it sounded like something his brother would do. Allen was not known for his plans unfolding properly. Still, Zane took a few steps back and looked around again. This time he selected a small stick that looked like it wouldn't hurt too much if his plan backfired. "If you need a sense of panic..." he said, twirling the stick through his fingers, "then we'll just have to take you by surprise." as soon as he finished he threw the stick at Taylor surprisingly fast. He looked away, hoping he wouldn't take her eye out.

Surprised, Taylor put her hands up protectively around her face. When nothing hit her, she peaked through her hands and saw the stick floating in midair. It was surrounded by a light blue aura. She didn't dare look away from it, only focusing on the connection between it. Suddenly, it was like an elastic that had been stretching back to her was let loose. She understood how to make things float. Now, the only thing was going to be making them move. She held up a hand experimentally. The stick stayed in place. She swung her hand to the left and the stick moved, but so did everything else in a straight line past the stick. Including Zane.

Zane let out a surprised shout as he was flung head-first into the lake. He struggled for a few moments before his feet his the bottom of the lake and he pushed upwards. His head broke the surface and he managed to grab onto a rock that was tall enough to be above the surface. He coughed up some water and looked around with a dazed look on his face. When he realized where he was, stranded near the middle of the lake, he groaned and dropped his forehead not to gently onto the rock. He felt a sharp pain and blood flow from the point of contact, only worsening his mood. "What did I say about flinging me into the lake?" he shouted, slightly annoyed, without picking his head up.

Despite Zane's problem, Taylor couldn't help laughing. She doubled over, wheezing, when she was done and shook it off. She looked back up at Zane and errupted into louder guffaws. She knew this would only irritate him so she settled for light chuckles. She dove into the water herself and swam over to him. When she reached him, she saw the wound on the side of his head. "What. Are you emo now?" She asked him, ripping off a piece of her bandage and placing it on his head. She stopped the flow of blood quickly and pushed back from the rock. "Ready to learn how to swim?" She asked him, kicking with her feet. She had a weird way of swimming. She did not kick periodically with both feet, but used both at once like a dolphin would. It's how she felt most comfortable. "Either that, or I could try to fling you out of the water. Not sure if you would hit a tree or something though." She said, still grinning. ((sorreh. i was having dinner.))

Zane glared at her. "I find absolutely no humor in this situation or anything you have just said." he said, rubbing at the bandage on his head. He was struggling to hold onto the rock and his exhausted state and heavy clothes were not making the task any easier. He looked down at the water. It was so clear he could see how deep it was and he felt his stomach twist in fear. He scrambled to get a better hold of the rock. "Maybe you should just fling me out..." he said quietly. All traces of his usual confidence and earlier annoyance were gone, replaced with a genuine look of fear. As crazy as it was, Zane felt like he rather face Lunar again than try to swim. |

Taylor, sensing his fear, swam back over to him. She had a determined and grim face set on. She held his gaze as he tried to find purchase on the rock. "I can't risk hurting you by throwing you out," She said quietly. She could see exhaustion dragging at Zane's face. "Zane, put your arm around me and I just need you to kick. As hard as you can, just try to keep yourself afloat and I'll do the rest. You'll have to let go of the rock," She said, knowing he wouldn't want to let go of his safe haven. Guilt shot through her. "I shouldn't have made you come," She muttered. "This is my fault,"

Zane lowered his eyes, making sure to stare at the rock and not the water. His fingers hurt and his knuckles were white from gripping the rock so hard. "It's not you're fault. I knew the risk and I still came." he said, focusing on the rock. He knew he wouldn't be able to hang on for very long but he hated the idea of possibly dragging Taylor down with him. He decided that if it started to seem like he would drag them both down, he'd let go. "Okay...I trust you," he said quietly. He let one hand go and wrapped it around Taylor's neck. He gave her one last nervous look before letting the rock go completely. He kicked at the water, but it didn't seem to do any good so he wrapped his other arm around her and clung on for dear life.

Zane's grip tightened around her neck and she kicked off of the rock, propelling them forward a couple of feet. Her head went under as he clung to her without kicking. She kicked harder and managed to pull them up. "I said kick," She hissed, but managed to keep going. Exhaustion quickly took hold of her, but she fought it. She was already halfway there, but if Zane didn't help kick, she would never make it. Suddenly, she felt Shadow's presence in her mind. He seemed to be sending energy through their bond and her tired muscles filled with renewed strength. She kick harder and propelled forward. "We're almost there," She said, and then closed her mouth as water splashed into it, causing her to cough. She held her breath, stopping her tremors and continued.

Zane began frantically kicking when he heard Taylor's voice. After what seemed like forever, his feet hit the shallow part of the lake and he let her go, shifting away from her slightly to hold onto the bank. He was too exhausted to even try to haul himself out. Instead he stayed there, gasping, until his heart stopped beating so madly against his chest. When he caught his breath, he gave Taylor an ashamed look. "I'm sorry..." he said quietly. He was trying to keep from completely breaking down, now that his fear of water had returned ten-fold. "I'm sorry, I could of drowned us both," he said, closing his eyes and pressing his head against the edge. (( Sorry Snowy D: Gotta go... >_> )) |

Taylor coughed up some water before she could speak. Her throat was raspy as she spoke. "It's not your fault. I'm the one that threw you in the water," She said, rolling her eyes. "And...we didn't drown." She continued and dragged herself over to him. "When we're not exhausted and I'm not practicing my power...by myself may I add, I am teaching you how to swim. No ands, ors, or butts about it," She finished in a huff and stood up, shakily. She put a hand down for Zane. "Now get up out of the water before we get sick. I think it'll be safe to rest on the bank," She said. ((just wanted to post this....I probly won't b on l8r....Snoweh, after it turns to night and they falll asleep we'll poof to morning...or Deomi could just meet them.))

Zane would of argued if he had the strength. Teaching him how to swim was a lost cause in his opinion. He took her hand to balance himself as he dragged himself out of the water. It took a few tries but he finally managed to get up completely out of the water. He let go of Taylor's hand and collapsed face-up on the ground. His breathing and heart-rate were still a bit fast and he felt uncomfortable in his soaked clothes. He shivered. "I think we're going to end up sick no matter what we do." he said, sounding more than slightly miserable.

Taylor dragged herself up after Zane. The humid air help them keep warm, but even the slightest gust of wind carried cold air. She began to shiver and automatically leaned into Zane for warmth. They were still on the ground and her breathing had begun to slow. "At least we can be sick together," She said and ignored the agonizing pain the salt had caused her arm.

Zane's mouth twitched up in a smile and he wrapped an arm around her. "That is not exactly a good thing," he said, amusement creeping into his voice. He shivered again. It would be nice if they could build a fire to dry off and warm up, but at night it would be like a beacon for the Mutants and anything else the Spirits had failed to mention. He lifted his free hand up to brush his bangs out of his face and groaned at the effort. Amazing how exhaustion could make the simplest of tasks feel like climbing Mt. Everest. "What are we going to do now?"
