Shadow let his tail droop. "Sometimes I can't think like that Yuri. Taylor's emotions seem to be mixing with mine," He said, letting out a growl. "It's not like I like depending on this human, but she gives me strength. I do not know what will happen if we lose our human partners." He explained, though unsure why he was bringing this up. This conversation was just between him and Yuri because Taylor had closed off her thoughts.

Taylor rolled her eyes at Allen. "Why would you want to know," She said and then sighed. Allen probably wouldn't leave Zane alone until he knew the whole story. "Last night, Zane and I went for a walk to see if we could work on my powers after talking to Shadow. He didn't help us at all," She said and Shadow flicked his ears, annoyed. Taylor allowed herself another eye roll. "I accidentally knocked Zane into the water and he um...hit a rock. I jumped in, swam toward him, and told him to hold onto me while we swam out. He held on for dear life and nearly drowned us both. We were exhausted when we hit the s*censored* and fell asleep under the stars," She said and shrugged.

((Yay. You're not insane anymore XD. lol. You can...what...15 min later than me? I logged off around that time lol.))

"We could very well die ourselves," Yuri answered. He said it with such a happy ex
pression on his face that it was more than a little creepy. In fact, it was very creepy. Yuri frowned, realizing his ex
pression didn't match the weight. He sighed. "Oh well, if we die, we die. I think our main concern should be taking the mutants down before we croak." The thought of dieing didn't bother him much. He had a feeling that even in death, his connection with Allen wouldn't be completely severed. An afterlife with Allen didn't sound bad.

Allen raised an eyebrow. "That's all?" he asked, disappointed. He sighed and leaned against Yuri's neck, resting his chin on the cheetah's head. "And here I thought that weirdo had finally gotten a girlfriend." he muttered. Although it wasn't intended to be, it was loud enough for Taylor to hear. Allen flicked his gaze back up to her, "Did you know he's never had a girlfriend? Rejects everyone who's asked." he sighed again, moving his head so his cheek was rested on Yuri's head instead and he was facing Taylor. "I don't know what his deal is. I know he's not into guys, though." he added, before Taylor could misunderstand. He may pick on Zane a bit, but he wasn't trying to be cruel to him.

Shadow looked down at Yuri, his ex
pression mystified. "But Yuri. The whole point of us existing is so that we battle the evil on the island and keep peace with the world outside." He said. Surely, Yuri must know that. "If Allen left this island, Yuri...He would still live. You, my friend, are the one who would die," He explained, knowing in his heart he was right. He had been the first spirit animal on this island. The first when the world was first created and this island had been secluded from the advancement in history.

Taylor looked down at Allen and grinned. "I'm not the type to ask guys out. I wait for them to ask me," She said, her eyes twinkling. "Maybe Zane just hasn't found the right person yet," She said, though wondering why he would turn everyone down. Surely, he must like someone. Taylor's thoughts drew back to her. Well, she had planned on never getting married. She hated the thought of staying with someone for the rest of her life and never having freedom. Her parent's marriage had had some really tough spots. At one point, she thought they would get divorced, but pushed away that one horrible night from her mind. She hadn't shed a tear since that night, thinking from then on that she had cried all her tears she could ever have. She looked down at Allen again. "Zane may be right about not wanting to be with someone like that," She said sadly.

((fine. you 'snatched' the egg. oh and, brain deadness. I can't concentrate for some reason XD. I think snoweh ditched lol))

"I know," Yuri said, a sad but peaceful look was on his face. He was staring at the ground as he spoke. "If I die, then I die. I think everything has already been predetermined. Our fates have already been decided and we cant change it. If we're meant to win, then we'll win. If the earth and the human's time is up, then we'll lose to the evil." He paused when he noticed an old pawprint in the mud. "We're following the destiny that we were meant to follow. We're just stepping in the pawprints that were layed out for us." he place his paw in the print. It fit perfectly. He smiled up at Shadow. "Haven't you noticed how Taylor is you're perfect partner and Allen is mine? There's a reason they were the first to survive. They were meant for us."

Allen laughed. "You're going to have a long wait then. Zane's pretty dense." he said. He paused. It may be denseness or not. Zane really did seem to have problem with letting go of the past. It had been five years since their older brother left and Zane still seemed to hate him as much as the day he left. Maybe he had abandonment issues? Allen shook his head to clear it, clutching onto Yuri's soft fur. He hated thinking about his brother that way. He sighed. "Zane has trouble... getting over things." Allen began, "He can't seem to let things go. He may seem strong, but he needs someone to depend on, and I don't think I can be that someone." He looked up at Taylor and gave her a soft smile. "So, whatever you do, just try to be there for him, alright?"

"I can see that Yuri, but that doesn't change the fact that we can shape our own destiny's. We don't need to allow fate to play itself out for us," He said, sweeping ferns over the paw print. He didn't want to admit it, but he was afraid to die. He would, for the good of his Clan, and for Taylor. He believed that once in the other realm, his spirit would mean nothing. He would not have anything to fight for and he would lose himself. The fact that they were already spirits of animals from the real world made him wonder if he could truly die. He shook his head and sighed. "Yuri, I will stop rambling about this. Let us only think about the present and anticipate the future," He said and padded onward. He sniffed the air and smelled the familiar scent of the salt. The beach was close.

Taylor slid her gaze from Allen's. "I'll try Allen. I really will, but..." She cut herself off, not knowing how she could finish the sentence. She realized just how much she liked Zane. The shock hit her like a blow and she closed her eyes. She tried to picture herself on the island without Zane and found she couldn't. Sadness pierced her, knowing that she could never truly care for him so deeply without fear of what may happen in the future. Her parent's love for each other had almost ended drastically and Taylor could never truly imagine them happy together. She never wanted to face that pain. She opened her eyes again, and her emotions were clear on her face. Sadness, confusion, and pain.

Yuri sighed. He and Shadow would always have their differences, it wasn't worth arguing. He closed his eyes. Whatever the results were, he hoped they turned out for the better. He hoped in the end, they all found what they were looking for and everything ended up going more or less their way. He had seen the fear in Shadow's eyes when he talked about death. He, as well as the rest of the spirits, were ancient creatures. Maybe they couldn't die. Or maybe they didn't have an afterlife. If they died, he wondered if there would even be any traces that they even existed. Maybe Allen would forget about him and everything else on the island if he left.

Yuri shook his head violently. The depressing thoughts were making him too sad. He continued walking, following the smell of salt instead of what he would of seen with his eyes.

Allen shifted his gaze away from Taylor. He couldn't stand to see that look on her face. He hadn't meant to say something to upset her. He searched his mind for something to say and found nothing.

Suddenly Yuri, who still had his eyes closed, ran into a tree that was close to the side of the path, lurching Allen forward so his hit the tree as well. They both sunk to the ground. "Oh joy. Pain." Allen muttered. "Next time, Yuri, keep your eyes open." he said to the flustered cheetah.

Taylor locked her thoughts away again and let humor fill her mind instead. She giggled as Yuri and Allen hit their heads on the tree. She closed her mind in tighter around itself as Shadow's misery and confusion hit her. He looked back apologetically at her and Taylor shrugged it off. Shadow flicked his tail at the two. "Come on, you two. Let's be going. The beach is just up ahead," Shadow announced and broke through the trees. To their right was just a sandy beach for a couple of miles before it rounded off. To their left was a large cliff that rose high above them. Dangerous rocks were surrounding by crashing waves of water cascading into the rocks. Driftwood and objects lie stranded along the beach. Taylor dismounted Shadow and walked back to Zane. "Look at this," She said.

((g2g AGAIN))

Allen sat up, rubbing his sore nose before he climbed back onto Yuri, who had just shaken himself to get rid of the shock. "Remember," he said, "eyes open."

Yuri rolled his eyes and followed Shadow onto the beach, this time his eyes open. They may have both just been discussing rather depressing things, but they still managed to lighten each other's mood.

The entire walk, Zane had been watching Taylor and Allen talk. He had a sneaking suspicion that they had been talking about him, which worried him. He had no idea where Allen drew the line with things that should be kept secret. Vic had been slithering along beside him, somehow managing to no annoy him and when they got to the beach and Taylor approached Zane, the snake slithered away quietly to give them so privacy.

"Look at what?" he asked her, curiously. 

Taylor grabbed his hand and literally dragged him through the beach. "This!" She exclaimed, her eyes brimming with sorrow. "Do you know how many shipwrecks that is? So many people have died here and...we're just going to take their stuff?" She asked. She released his hand and walked a little ways down the beach. She kicked at some driftwood and found a small, pink backpack. She zipped it open and the contents spilled out. A small teddy bear, a little hairbrush, and a few pieces of clothing. Taylor staggered back and fell to her knees. She hit the ground angrily with her fist.

"It's not fair!" She yelled. Shadow padded over to her and she reached for his gentle face. She buried her face in his fur, but even still, was unable to shed a tear. Why does this have to happen Shadow? She asked, not trusting her voice to speak out loud. His comforting thoughts reached her. There is nothing you can do. You must only remember the past, anticipate the future, and learn to live in the present. He spoke the words calmy. Taylor nodded and stood up, but kept a hand on Shadow's warm fur. He walked over to another part of the wreckage and found a couple of black tanks Taylor's size. She took them wordlessly and found another pair of jean shorts. They had a slight tear on the side, but they would do. The find Shadow was most impressed with was a small dagger. It rested underneath a large rock that Shadow had to push over. It's jet black hilt carried the blue markings the same color as Shadow's markings on his fur.

"That is not a human ob
ject. I suspect it came here when one of your humans had a war. I do not really know how items get here, but I know that it is crafted from imagination and may be linked to us," He said to her. She tied the hilt to her belt loop on her jeans.
