(( Whadda ya mean? o_o ))

Zane sat up quickly, staring at Taylor with a curious ex
pression. He narrowed his eyes slightly and turned away from her, placing his hand over his mouth as he thought. She was right. He couldn't remember anything about his parents or any one else. He ran his fingers over his grandfather's dog-tags, an almost sad ex
pression on his face. He could only remember two people, his brother and someone else he'd love to forget. So the island only erased memories that would make them miss their old lives. "This island is too cruel." He sighed, standing up and walking over to Taylor. He pulled off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. "You'll get sick if you don't stay warm." He said, patting her shoulder lightly.

Taylor seemed to shrink under the weight of the jacket, but it wasn't that. For a moment, she just felt...defeated. Zane was right. This island was cruel, but some of the inhabitants were sweet. Either that or they were just using them for their meaningless war. She sighed and rubbed her temples before wrapping the jacket closer to her. She shivered again, but her nose was clear. She never got stuffy noses when she was sick. She just got horrible chills. She looked up at Zane, her eyes warm. "I think I'm already sick, but I'll just get chills for a while until it goes away." She replied. She lifted her hand up to her shoulder, where his hands rested. "This island is cruel, but it did create something that probably never would have happened before," She whispered to him.

[[On your siggy, you had that you were taking a nap. XD I said you should do more than nap seeing as though you haven't gotten much sleep. lol]]

(( Yeah... And I'm still continuing the pattern *hasn't gone to sleep yet* It's torturous really. ))

Zane blinked in confusion when she touched his hand and felt even more confused at what she said. He had a feeling he was missing something that should be obvious and that bothered him slightly. He sighed and sat down beside her, keeping his hand on her shoulder. "If you're already sick, you shouldn't over-exert yourself. It'll only get worse if you do. You shouldn't take it for granted, even if its just chills." He frowned for a moment, looking at the sky before curiosity got the better of him and he had to ask. "When you say "it did create something that probably never would have happened before," did you mean the bond we have with the spirits." He as-sumed that's what she meant, but he knew not to jump to conclusions, especially not in these past few days.

Taylor chuckled softly under her breath. "I promise I won't over-exert myself," She said though she smiled. She tore her gaze away from the water and looked up at him. "In a sense, I could be talking about that," She said and smiled again. "But I meant that we never would have happened. We wouldn't have been together and it...it makes me sad to think like that. I thank this island only for that reason," She whispered.

Zane frowned slightly when Taylor's words made him feel almost... embaras-sed? She really wasn't making any sense. Why would he make her think that being on this island was worth while? It seemed strange. He gave her an awkward smile before looking to the side away from her. "Taylor?" he said, playing with a bit of splintered wood. "What am I to you? Does my friendship really mean that much to you?" He squeezed her shoulder lightly.

(( It's fine. *yawns* Man, I'm tired but there's a NCIS marathon in an hour and I don't wanna miss it :/ )) 

"I see," Zane muttered, turning to look back at Taylor. He really didn't know what to say to her. Holding her and trusting her had just been spur of the moment things. He would have done them again in an instant... but he really couldn't explain why. "You right, though. Everyone here has lost their family, I suppose it's only natural for us to start depending on each other and supporting each other through our losses." He gave her a small smile, "I'm glad your here with me too, this island wouldn't be nearly as sufferable without you. And that whole drowning thing just makes everything that much more interesting, so don't worry about it. It didn't kill me, after all." He frowned slightly, looking away again. "But what do you mean by trusting me with your heart..." he asked. He was feeling really slow and it was bothering him.

"I'm glad to hear you say that." She said. She felt Zane's gaze on her, but she was content watching the sinking sun. The sky was beginning to get darker and the sun seemed to blaze more brightly as it seemed to touch the water. It made the clouds drifting by light with reds and blues. She looked at him then. "I think...I think that I love you Zane." She said softly and her eyes filled with tears. She could almost hear her heart cracking again. It was waiting for him to reject her as her family had done to her once. Maks hadn't turned from her. He had suffered along with her as they watched their parents marriage take a wrong turn. Things had turned out okay in the end, but the one thing that had never been recovered again was trust. She could not rely on them anymore to take care of her. She couldn't bear another blow at her heart if that happened again.
