Jay couldnt believe what he was hearing. "You what?!" he barked. The wolf who killed his mother and littermates was the one who he was talking to and protecting this whole time. He turned back towards his fathers den. "I should kill you right now!" he whispered harshly. Although she killed them he still didnt want the whole pack chasing her out of their territory and hunting her down.

Shadow whimpered and said,"I'm sorry. The alpha angered me and my anger took me over. I didn't mean to kill them." She looked up with eyes that pleaded for him to not kill her. "Please don't.",she said quietly.

Shadow obeyed and quickly stood before running away. She kept running until she reached the edge of the valley she lived in. She panted and jumped into the steep walls of the valley. "I knew trying to return would end like this. I need to listen to myself more.",she scolded herself.

Jay glared as she ran away. His temper the- rose above his head and he clawed a boulder while walking back to his den. When he was there he plopped down at the far end away from his' father. "Wheres the girl? Did she leave?" Jason asked in a calm voice. "Yea.." Jay said as he drifted off to sleep

Shadow went into the cave in the side of the valley wall and fell asleep on a pile of soft animal furs.

When morning came Jay woke up and forgot that he had kicked the pretty wolf out. "Ill be back later dad!" he called out to Jason as he ran out looking for her. Jay finally found the wolf and ran up to her "Hey!"

Shadow had been sitting on her rock in the middle of her valley,looking for danger. When she saw the wolf fall into her valley she hunkered down and snarled,"Did you come back to kill me or something?!" She walked towards the wolf,now growling loudly.

Shadow suddenly froze and then shook her head. "I would like to stay in my safe valley. Besides,if Jason remembers who I am he will kill me this time.",she said,a serious tone coming into her words. She unfroze and then sat and shook her head again.

"Dont worry Ill get all my friends to ake a liking to you while you be as social and non- suspicious as you can be!" he said. When they finally arrived he led her to his large group of friends. "Hey Jay who ya got their new girlfriend?" one of them asked. "Hey Jay want to do a berry eating contest your girlfriend can join if ya want!" another said. "Whoa guys calm down! Shes not my girlfriend- yet" he said with a wink. "Ok so lets start the berry eating contest now!" he said gleefully.

Shadow looked around at all the wolves. She didn't want to speak to any of them and was very nervous. She clung to a spot a foot away from Jay,like that would keep the wolves from talking to her or getting near. She sat down away from them and continued to look around,she saw no all black wolves in sight.

"JAY JAY JAY JAY JAY!!" the crowd cheered as he ate more and more. Jay then had the feeling he was getting full but his compition was winning so he ate a whole batch more and won. All the wolves howled in responce. "Shadow xome over and join the fun!" Jay shouted
