As she came to the door, Paradise waited a beat before opening it. The second she did, she heard her mothers voice, as usual.
"Paradise Smith!"
She exclaimed, coming out of the kitchen and to the front entrance. Ironically, Paradise wasn't embarressed at the fact that her mother was yelling at her right in front of Damon. She was too busy being embarressed at how small, plain, and simple her house was compared to his. She could even feel a blush on her face just for thinking that.
"You have no idea how worried I was about you! We had a deal. Never to be late again and to never be with that b-"
Her mother, Shirley, looked up at the boy next to her, eye brows furrowing. With an angered ex
pression she asked,
"He better not be who I think he is."
Her mother whispered to Paradise before looking at Damon with a nice smile.
"Hi. I'm Paradise's mother."

"Nice to meet you as well, Damon." Then, still keeping the smile on her face, she tried to act friendly as she asked, "Are you the one keeping my daughter from coming home at the time we agreed?"
"Mom. Let's talk about this when he leaves." Paradise mumbles.

Feeling like Damon was actually a decent person Paradise could be around, she frowned from being wrong. "So your coming in here, thinking I should just think it all better even though she disobeyed me? Your the boy I told her not to be around just yesterday."
Paradise hoped this would end soon. The embarressment was killing her. "Damon, you should go now."

That isn't fully true...
Paradise thought to herself, thinking of the motor cycle. But that was the last thing her mom needed to know about.
For a long time, her mother studied Damon. Finally she said,
"Fine. You hurt her - physically or emotionally - it will not be pretty."
Something dinged in the kitchen.
"Now, if you'll excuse me, I have something in the oven. " As she walked away, Paradise did a relieved sigh and looked back at Damon.
"Thanks. I'll probably get more of her mouth later, but... She's calmed down."
