"I can't sleep," he said up to her in a stage whisper, not wanting to wake the others. "Really, you shouldn't worry so much." A rustle in the bushes beneath them made him jump. The smell of unfamiliar cats filled his head.

"Who's there?"

Dawnshadow twitched her ears, but otherwise remained motionless. She didnt want to wake everyone else up, and had to force her fur to lie flat, "what was that?" she asked Ravenfeather quietly.

Ravenfeather stood up on his branch gracefully. "I'll go check it out," he told her, starting to claw his way down the tree. When he finally jumped onto one of the roots poking up from the ground, two unfamiliar cats stepped out of the trees. One male, one female. They looked oddly familiar.

The female spoke. "My parents told us about your quest. My brother is here to join you; I cannot go, as I am expecting kits, but he wanted me to walk him to you." Her smile was gentle. "I'm Crow, and this is Chain. Where are the rest of the cats?" 

((could be XD but Dawnshadow said the last part.))

Batear raised her head and glanced around, where did tiger go? She pushed the thought from her groggy, tired mind, and put her head back down, falling asleep.

Tiger seemed to suddenly appear by Ravenfeather, "sleeping." she said in responce to Crow, "and I'm pretty sure they'd appreciate it if you didtn wake them up." her voice was quiet, but sharp.

Ravenfeather was oddly comforted by Tiger's presence. He wrapped his tail around his paws, eyes calm and thoughtful. "There's safety in numbers," he mumbled aloud. "But the more cats we have, the easier we'll be spotted..."

Chain blinked. "I'm very good with herbs," he meowed. "and I believe you do not have a healer amongst you." 

Chain nodded, ignoring Ravenfeather's prickly gaze. Crow smiled. "I must be going," she meowed, glancing down at her bloated stomach. "I need to be getting back to the barn to rest." Chain watched her leave as Ravenfeather clawed his way back into his resting spot, bristling. 

Chain nodded, clawing his way up the tree to curl up in a branch not far from Tiger's. "Alright," he said, smiling as he set his head on his paws. "I'll see you in the morning."

Ravenfeather peered through the darkness, at the ground. Keeping watch. He was always watching; always aware... 

"I'm not watching him," Ravenfeather insisted stubbornly. He turned to stare at the ground below them again. "I'm just watching." He flicked his ears, lapsing into silence as a firefly lip up in front of his nose. His dark eyes reflected the little light with an added sparkle.

"I've always wondered how they did that..." 

Ravenfeather liked hearing that. Usually he spent his time trailing after braver cats like Deathnote and Batear. It was his time to shine. He nodded, smirking, and started to wander into the swamp. The air was warm and constricting like a steamy green leaf day.
