As the two players finished the duel, Rosa heard the girl dingin g. Did she level up? She was surprised that simply duelliing could enhance your skills so much. The two were very intimidating to Rosa- they really seemed to know what they were doing. Rosa was fairly inexperienced so far, but she did enjoy the rush of combat. She walked closer to the two- but stayed back a bit. She didn't want to intrude too much, even if it was a public place.

Lucky break huh? Vyn crane her neck before a couple of popping sounds resonated from her vertebrae. She could do with a lucky brake if it got gear like that. Her sword didn't exactly scream durable. Finding a melee weapon so early on would be a huge boost. She recalled reading that even though it was called Sword art, there were still other weapons available such as lances and axes, but for now, she thought it best to stick with her sword (even if it could probably break with enough force applied). In her own world, she contemplated making her own blade. She could build motorcycles, why not a sword?
Why not a sword? Because the mechanics are completely different, and where on earth- scratch that. Where in Aincrad would you get the material? Concluding now that this early on, the best method of upgrading her equipment was either: Through finding; Like mister hood over there, looking enigmatic once again with said piece of clothing shadowing his face, through purchase, or obtaining equipment as a reward in quests. If she could get bracers once the leather quest is complete, who is to say you can't get other items?
Eyes re-focusing on a petite girl a small way off looking rather sheepish and apprehensive. it was almost as if she wanted to come and speak to the pair of vague acquaintances, if their estranged relationship was ever developed enough for them to be considered an acquaintanceship.
Hands still on hips she gave a nod of 'hey there' in the petite lass' direction prior to having her attention taken by Cain again. She had been internally monologging and too focused on advancing her equipment to notice the sirens of congratulatory-ness.
"Yep. You are right." She responded, swiping the initial window away to exit out of the noise she had been oblivious to. "Ooh, both. Nice. Level 2 in one handed straight sword and a +2 in agility. Isn't that swell? I didn't walk away empty handed after all. Figuratively speaking of course."
Cain seemed to be the lone ranger type or at least antisocial with that hood up. Vyn didn't care about that though. He may view her as another player, but she was going to consider him a friend, despite half an hour not having gone by since their meeting. It was abnormal, but something about him seemed interesting, and she wanted to get to the bottom of it. A quest of her own making. She was prone to forming irrational attachments to people or even objects, and with mister hood, it was because he seemed to be the embodiment of an enigma. Sure, everyone had some mystery surrounding them in an RPG, but that is partially due to the Avatars. In this VMMORPG, the avatar system has been stripped away, allowing you to already peer into life irl... but Cain? There was still something about him.
Vynessa closed the window and looked at Cain. Brow furrowed and lips neutral she tilted her head and examined him before her facial feature sprung back to an optimistic grin. "You know what Cain, we are the same height." She stated, brushing her bangs from her eyes. "Bet we could shares shoes and everything."

Cain--- Overcast Skies ---While she was checking her stats, Cain busied himself with opening his own quest menu. He took his time looking over the three quests he still had up. Find a rare ore from the shores to the west of the town. Defeat 2 wolves. Collect a tangled claw from a Arthenca. Apparently the wolves were mostly out at night and while he had killed one already, it was before he got the quest. Still, those things were difficult in the first place and he had been lucky enough only to stumble across a loner rather than a pack. Finding two of them would likely mean finding two of them together... and he would definitely die in that case. So no, he would have to get stronger if he was going to take two wolves on at once. The Arthenca was most likely a minor boss. The experience from that was sky high so he was almost positive it would be. His eyes squinted slightly at the girl, Vynessa, Cain had to remind himself, and thought for a moment. She had gotten better in her weapon and agility, right? She was probably better than anyone else he would find right now in skill wise. He might as well ask her if she would be willing to give him a hand. At the very least, he would be able to gain half the total experience from these quests. It was better than none, after all. Plus, any rewards these guys dropped would be good to add to his stash. The boy's eyes darted over for a moment, feeling eyes continue to stare at him from somewhere other than the blonde Vynessa. A smaller girl was standing watching them both, the same as before, although this time she was closer. Apparently she wanted to talk but didn't seem to have the courage to come up and do it. Well that's the thing here. If you weren't going to make your way in the world, girly, Cain was not going to help you on. Either start the conversation or don't, that's up to you. He wasn't going to baby you and start it himself. Not unless it benefited him.[[I am so sorry, Moltres. Cain's personality is just the kind that wouldn't make him go up to someone and talk unless there was a reason. *whispers* Bring her in. ;3; I wanna see how she reacts to Cain]]His attention reverted back to the girl again when she mentioned shoe size. His eyes darted down to the black boots he was wearing. Normal beginning game wear, yet to really be updated at all. "I don't think you want to share my shoes," He replied dryly. "Though, we could share quests, if you want." It was a good transition, actually. Cain mentally applauded himself for the smoothness of it as he shifted on his feet a little. "I have a few quests that I could use a temporary partner in." His voice was flat in that moment... in fact, the gray haired boy sounded rather bored with the concept of a partner. But still, the offer hung in the air."Unless you have something to do of course." He finally added in after a moment of silence. Maybe she had other plans, other quests. Cain wasn't going to fret about it if she did. He would just go and try to find someone else... or even go out and kill some things in hope of reaching his next level. At lvl 3, Cain had a feeling he would be able to at least take on the wolves. There was also rumored to be a murloc in a tree near here that you could kill. Players in the bar last night had been talking about how it had killed some of their friends. High levels, apparently. Very good offense and could hit through a newbie level defense for major damage. If she declined he would go check that out.

She laughed outwardly when he declined the notion of shoe sharing. Well wasn't that a shame? Now who's shoes would she 'borrow' when she run hers into the ground? However if and when it came to that, replacing beginners shoes seemed like an easy feat once you had a little bit of cash. Scratching her bottom lip, her face lengthened as she contemplated what he said next. She was rather surprised that a reserved (hooded) character such as Cain would ask her to aid in quests. She was defiantly up for that. But her defensive and offensive stats were still pretty low. If she could just manage to develop her fortitude slightly, the low offensive wouldn't be too much of a problem provided she kept dodging oncoming attacks and then swiftly striking back.
At the mention of 'something else' Vynessa jolted her head up and systematically her right foot took a slight step forward. Snapping her fingers and pointing at your 'friendly' Mr Lvl 2 nieghbour hood-guy, her eyes flashed with a proposition of her own. "No qualm in forming a party and aiding you in your current quests, however I feel like I could hinder you ever so slightly." She grinned and tapped her left wrist. "You seem to be familiar with the tailor." Motioning with a head movement to his garb that was more advanced than the bog standard tunic and pants she was dressed in; Vynessa's avatar had initially been male, despite being called Vynessa, Simply because she wanted trousers. "I have the quest to get some leather. In return, I'd gain XP and Bracers from the tailors wife. If I keep the bracers, we could split the XP. I say this because it'd surely go much quicker with the two of us. As a result, I wouldn't be so indefensible when cooperating with you on the quests you so desire to complete."

As the conversation between the two players picked up, Rosa decided she might as well go join in. Especially after they paid her some attention... It was like the "ok" had been given to join them. She casually picked her ways toward them. This is the time she'd have to be strong.. If she couldn't talk to strangers, she couldn't live in this world. "Hey," Rosa said. "Mind if I join you?"

Cain ---- Overcast Skies ---
The tailor? Hm... yes, acquainted would be a good word. Apparently, that NPC was trapped in a continual world of her child being careless and she always having to do his chores for him. If you were persistent and charming enough, you could get several quests from her to go kill things and have her make you clothes. The cloak had been from that, as had his shirt and pants. He still wore simple beginning leather boots, however. They would be something he would have to upgrade when he gathered more gold. Somehow, Cain was certain the amount he had now was fractionally very little in the big scheme of things.
"Honestly, just having a second target for the monster to hit is better than one." Cain shrugged. Whether she was good or bad wasn't even all that important. If you could flank an enemy with another person, Cain had a feeling that he would be able to do much more damage. The beginning guide had mentioned something like that as well. He was going to have to reread that later and figure out more of what it actually said. Right now, however, he kind of just wanted to get moving.
His eyes glanced over to the smaller girl who had been watching them earlier. Apparently she had worked up the energy and courage to come over and actually talk. "She speaks." He said under his breath, barely even making a noise. Course, he couldn't help the small smile on his face. Good for her and all that junk. "You want to join us doing what exactly?"
He glanced over at Vynessa and then back at the girl. "You mean, you want to join us in the quests or just in general. It's pretty hard to split xp three ways... unless of course you have your own quests you can add to the pile that we could do together." He raised his eyebrow at her, though Cain realized a moment later that she wouldn't be able to see it due to the cloak over this face. Really, the shadows kept the top half of his face almost invisible.
"As for the quest itself, Vynessa, I wouldn't mind doing that. I can kill the boars in a hit now. If we are in the party, all we have to do is travel a little ways out and take them down on by one." He didn't really care about the minimal experience you get for the boars... though in a party, it would be split between the two of them. Same with items and gold.

((fail post because 5 days))
A decoy. That was what he wanted her for more or less. It had merit, and she wasn't holding it against him. It was a good move, and she'd be happy running the enemy ragged whilst he sliced and diced. Teamwork, well, worked. As the petite lass approached, her ears caught a faint whisper coming from Cain, but even her hearing wasn't that impressive. The girl's request was a generic one, however Cain seemed to jump on it almost immediately. She doubted the girl knew what they were talking about from over there. The pair weren't exactly shouting, so unless she had eagle hearing, Vyn doubted the kid knew they had been devising some form of quest strategy.
"If you wanted to talk, we were just talking, about big bad boars... the 'big' and 'bad' being a vaguely literal deion, as I read they are pretty weak in the grand scheme of things." Vyn stated, analyzing the fact that they were bulky and muscular. "But sure, monsieur," She quickly changed topic again. " I am up for heading out to slay the beastsys."
Looking back through the menu, Vynessa found the 'form party' and sent the request to Cain.

Feeling slightly defeated, Rosa shook her head. "I haven't gotten any good quests yet.. But because of this, you don't have to split the XP equally, if that is possible. I could also go out seeking some quests but that would take valuable time." She seemed to be getting better at this talking to strangers thing. Rosa was slightly jealous of the two players for being able to communicate so well and being able to understand the game so early on, as well as be so successful. ((Umg sorry I've been really busy ugh(don't wanna think if university stuff for next year yet ;u;)))

Cain --- Darkened Horizons ---
Cain breathed in slowly through his nose, letting his options circulate through his mind carefully. He couldn't quite decide what to do. They didn't need this girl if there wasn't any quests being tossed in to the mix... and he certainly didn't want to share well earned xp if she wasn't going to put in her share. Plus, the way she held herself, nervous and shy, Cain didn't believe she would make it even a minute outside without some help.
She's cannon fodder.
That's the first convincing thought that passed through his head. While Vynessa might be a good aid, this girl, in his opinion, would be plenty of cannon fodder.
Cain was not going to try to play the good guy role. He wasn't a good guy. He was in it for himself and only for himself. He wasn't one to beat around the bush either. If she came over asking a question, he was going to answer it and be done with it.
But yes, cannon fodder was definitely needed in the end. Another monster would target her and he would be able to get a hit in.... and who really knows, maybe she'd end up being more than a target. He didn't know and didn't really care. As far as Cain was concerned, one less thing to hit him was another bonus. She would have to take care of herself just as the rest of them would.
Still, sharing xp was just not preferrable.
"All time is valuable. You just need to know how to spend it... and you're going to have to find quests eventually." He said pointedly, crossing his hands over his chest for a moment before looking at Vynessa. "If that's not what you want to do right now, you can come with us... but I'm not going to be slowing the pace any. You will have to keep up." Killing things in rapid succession and moving on.
The screen in front of him popped up momentarily and he causally pressed accept. The party symbol appeared on his screen for a moment before he closed it and pulled the cloak back in tightly around him. "Either way, we should go Vynessa. I suspect by now most everyone in this town will be out training. If we don't more quickly, easy kills will be taken."
Do not talk to me or my snails ever again.
