Your Name: Johann "Joe" B_Campbell Rank: None Gender: Male___ Level: 1 Age: _68-ish Experience Pts: 0 Gold: 200g.
------------------ Heath: 14/14 Strength: 5 Agility: 2 Fortitude: 4 Speed: 3 Wisdom: 6 Perception: 3 Incite: 4 Tolerance: 3 ------------------- Skills:
One Handed Straight Sword lvl 1 The ability to use a very basic straight sword
Parry lvl 1 Your ability to block an attack someone is using on you. The higher this level is, the stronger attacks you can block. There is a chance of you taking some minor damage with each block but there is also a chance of you being able to counter attack immediately after. This will be decided by your speed skills and their strength skills. If their strength skill is higher than your speed skill, you won't even have a chance to attack again since your block will just barely be capable of withstanding their attack. If your speed is higher than their strength, there is a 3% chance (at lvl 1, mind you. the chance gets higher the higher the level of parry) that you will be able to get another clean hit in.

The announcement
was a huge shock; I and every single player here at the plaza, were now stuck
within the game. And the worst part of
it was that, those who had the best knowledge of what to do – Beta Testers - now
disappeared without a trace.
People were
panicking, crying, screaming; there were even few simply running around without
any specific direction in mind. And I?!
I simply stood there, thinking.
-=I need a good plan. Getting equipment and
some exp will be a good start=-
The map
provided to us showed only basic layout of the city with two entrances and
central plaza. Roaming the City was pointless. I went for the southern entrance,
checking everything along the way, with some luck I might find someone to
party with or at least a minor quest.

System Alert: -------------- A map has been added to the Data Banks on the first page. --------------
Angus With each second that passed, more and more beta testers were disappearing from the ranks of the people in the plaza. Others who were still within their right minds began to move as well. Angus, who had decided to take a pathway down to the southern exit, followed the main route straight down out of the plaza, taking the main road that was littered with merchant stalls that had earlier this day been frequented by hundreds of new players chatting with the NPC's.
Currently, however, the place was near deserted. There wasn't any NPC's out behind the stalls at the moment though if you peered through the shop windows, you would still see the characters in there. There
were three buildings that were distinctly prominent on the corner of a
four way intersection. One of which was a inn with the sign "rest stop available". Another was what looked like a potential trading post for common every day goods and food. The last was a bank. None of these things were likely usuable to Angus right then but he was welcome to go in them if he wanted to. Who knows what might be inside.
Past the four way intersection you could see the opened doors of the large arched exit. A few guards were standing beside the door, clearly NPC's as they were not in the plaza. Their hands were clenched tight on their spears as they stood stalk still. They might look threatening in their armor that was far more advanced that any that the newbies might have but they were clearly friendly, judging by the green health bar above their head that you could see if you focused clearly enough.
[[You choose what you do with this information and who you want to talk to, what buildings you go into.]]

Miriam stood stone-faced throughout the announcement, deadpan eyes staring up at the billowing cloak of the Gamemaster and the blood red sky. Her first thoughts were to her mother and sister, but as the ceiling faded away and she dimly heard the howls and yammering of those around her, she realized that she would be a fool to stay here longer. I need to get to the nearest hunting grounds and grind levels as fast as I can if I'm to beat the crowd. Pulling up her menu, she skimmed the map for The Town of Beginnings and noted the only exit would be to the south. Not bothering to close the menu, she started to jog, weaving through the crowd as fast as she could without stumbling.

MiriamThere continued to be very little people out as Miriam moved forward though a few stray NPC's began to creep out of their shops looking around hesitantly, appearing as if they might return to their stalls to sell to the users. The system here was quiet complex, giving even the unreal characters personalities and concerns. They were almost as real as the actual people. When reaching the four corner intersection, Miriam would have the chance to notice the same three buildings as Angus did before. One of which was a inn with the sign "rest stop available". Another was what looked like a potential trading post for common every day goods and food. The last was a bank. The gaurds would also be in front of Miriam, still standing tall with their head held high, though one of them looked a bit more nervous than the other. Editted Map:

Vynessa's brow had remained furrowed in a perplexed daze as she stared up at the ominously cloaked Game Master during his announcement. What seemed like smoke was gushing out from where a face should have been, and the blood red backdrop of hexagonal warning signs plaguing the sky didn't exactly scream friendly. What was this? She like surprises and all, but... but this? Being told you were now trapped in a virtual world where death was finite was something to mull over, that was certain.
"Huh." She exhaled. Just don't die.
Where is she? In the western hemisphere of the plaza. Right. Yes. Turn right.
Swiftly navigating the mass of weeping, screaming, and cursing individuals, Vynessa headed south. Prior to the announcement she had walked a length of the perimeter and had passed the southern gate house before being teleported back to the courtyard. She had spied some avatars through the arch heading off, and one now asumsed they had BETA testers. Deduction? South was good.
Taking a slight detour around the back of the spired church for no reason in particular, she made her way down to the gate house and the fields beyond it. Heart racing, Vyn had a grin on her face that would be unnerving to on-lookers, especially due to having just heard the whole 'death means you die' speech.
"Well Vyn, time for that adventure."

Miriam stopped to inspect the buildings before simply shrugging and starting to move--until she caught the eye of an NPC watching nervously out of the corner of his eye at her. "May I help you?" she snapped, towering half a head over the man, hands on her hips.

Bank, Inn and
a trading post, all of those were useless to me. Not to mention NPC seem as if
there was some huge storm coming; none of them willing to as much as peak
outside. There was no point on dwelling in this place any longer, I quickly ran
for the exit. As I reached the door, I looked at the Guards.
-Oy there,
do you got a moment? -

Vynessa:
When someone steps out of the gates, the first thing you see is a wide bridge, spanning out into very grassy fields. The sun above you is still fading in the sky above you but there is enough light to see the rolling hills. To your left when you look out over the bridge there are drop offs in the earth and islands floating in the sky as if by nothing. The stream that wraps around the town of beginnings flows off the edge of one of these cliffs, possibly falling endlessly forever if you were to look down after it.
There is a distinct dirt pathway that travels out in front of you and a few signs distinctly lay right at the beginning of the dirt path that couldn't be seen at this distance across the bridge.
There was a distinct wind blowing over the hills and the temperature had dropped slightly due to the coming of night. However, the setting of this place was still a easy spring outlook and the clothing on the new players backs would be suitable to keep them warm... at least on this level.
No monsters could be seen from here... though there is a likelyhood that the farther you travel in, the more they will appear.

Miriam and Angus:
The nervous looking guard jumps slightly and readjusts himself, standing a bit straighter and trying to appear more confident. However, he shook his head quickly, stammering out a short "No, no sorry Miss. Feel free to go ahead." to Miriam. He blinked once or twice and inched closer to his companion, glancing at the obviously older and more experienced guard who was keeping a steady and emotionless face. "It's just that... you all are rather new to this scene and it is getting rather dar- Nevermind, Nevermind! Forget I said anything." He mumbled in apology and glanced away again.
The other guard, however looked towards Angus and nodded his head once. "Of course. What is it that you need?"

I was more and more enchanted by this place,
even NPC reacted like living being; chatting, laughing and even being nervous. It
was as if this place was not a gathering of data but a real world.
The guard I was calling patiently waited for my
question.
-What can you tell me of the fields beyond the bridge?
What kind of monster will I find there?-

Miriam pursed her lips. "Getting what, exactly? Dark?" The woman weighed her options--clearly the guard was hesitant about her going outside of the town's walls, which meant something or somethings came out at night. But on the other hand, what comes out must be stronger, and thus would give more experience points. Miriam nodded, mind set on going outside of the town. However, if the monsters truly would be stronger, she'd want to be better prepared; if she could sell her sword and use her default gold to buy a slightly better one, she'd stand a better chance to live. Plus the more clueless will have already gotten ambushed by those whatevers, meaning they'll be at least somewhat weakened already before they had picked off their prey. ~ The air inside the trade house was warm, almost stifling, the nonde NPC checking the lodger for inventory. The dark-skinned woman walked up to the counter, unsheathed her blade, and placed it onto the counter. "How good of a blade could I get if I sold you this, plus two hundred gold?"

Angus:
The man nodded slowly, as if pondering the boy's question. His free hand, covered in a silver gauntlet, reached up to rub the stubble on his chin. There was no helmet in sight near any of the guards and you could see all their faces just as easily as you could see the players next to you. They looked just as real as any of the others. In fact, if it wasn't for their ti tle appearing on your control menu of nearby players saying NPC, you might doubt that they were even computer made at all.
"I have little information I can give you at this time," He glanced back at much more nervous partner with a short shake of his head. "There are boars that roam these lands throughout the days and nights right outside the gates. I have not ventured out lately to say how the state of the land is." It seemed as if he was only telling part of the truth but unlike his nervous companion, this guard seemed to be much wiser and less likely to talk.

Miriam:
The NPC in the shops was a young woman, fairly attractive, blonde hair and light hazel eyes. She, however, was wearing armor far more advanced than Miriam but less protective as the guards outside. When the door swung open, you could see the woman glance up almost nervously at whoever was entering before settling down. Perhaps she was expecting someone else and had been highly anxious about their arrival. Whether it was a good or bad anxious, you couldn't quite tell.
She moved behind the counter quickly and reached out to observe the sword that had been placed down. Finally, the woman shook her head. "It's a crude blade. Very basic. Not worth anything more than a couple gold. Every new player is gifted one." She pinched her lip slightly and glanced up at the roof. "The best 200 gold can buy right now is a weak potion and some simple food supplies for the road... " She motioned towards the stack of traveling supplied in the corner that held food, ropes, water and a vial or two filled with red liquid.
"Not to be rude, Miss, but if you are new... the only kind of weapon you are skilled enough to wield is this one. If you plan to go outside at this time..." She glanced away again towards the direction of the gates "It might be best to reconsider or stick close to the gates. No monsters can come through them so it would be best if you need to retreat." She trailed off again before giving Miriam a bright masking smile. "Oh, listen to me, fretting on. You will do as you must."

Miriam huffed hard. "Look, I've had one guard trying to tell me not to go out after dark before getting essentially censored by this other guard, and now you're hinting that it'd be best to stay within sight of the walls." She leaned in, looking the NPC straight in the eyes, her own dark brown staring hard into the watery hazel. "My life is on the line if I go out there and die because you didn't tell me what lurks beyond the walls. If you want the fact that you've let me die before I can meet my mother and sister again to rest on your shoulders, feel free to let me walk out. Otherwise, tell me what's going to come out when the sun comes down."
The thought of her sister crying above her brain-fried corpse shocked her out of the tantrum, though, and she slumped a little bit, breaking eye contact as she felt tears well up. "Please."

Miriam:
The female sighed slightly before glancing at Miriam once more. "I was born here, raised here, I have not gone out of these walls... but there are rumors that I hear coming in and out of here." Her voice dropped an octave. It was obvious this was a warning, perhaps even a quest that she was alluding at... but the very tone of her voice was stating that it was more powerful than someone level one alone could take on.
"There is rumors of a pack of rock wolves camping out in wait along the edge of the path way. This pack is strong by itself but the leader..." The woman shuddered once, "it is most fearsome. Spikes coming from it's back, taller than me, taller than you. That is all I know. No one who has seen it and lived has come back to my shop to tell me about it... though there were a few users who I have heard fight the beast and win."

((and now i battle IC Miriam wanting to go after it for the drops and EXP or have her idk not die right away))
Miriam stared at the counter for a while, chewing at her bottom lip. She took the hint from the woman easily--don't do it, stay safe--but the allure of a quick bump in levels and a possible rare item drop was too much to pass up. After all, from what she said, a handful of betas had beaten the direwolf.
Looking up at the shop owner, Miriam half-grinned, eyes glinting in the light of the candle on the counter. "Do you know anyone who would be willing to help me take care of that wolf problem? I'm sure I could get a pretty penny for that pelt, eh?" She let slip a bit of steel in her voice.

Miriam:
The NPC rapidly shook her head. "Please, dear, don't go after it. Train some more. Any of the new players are not likely to be able to help you right now. Find someone else. Perhaps there would be someone already leveled to help you. There are a thousand beta testers who have been here for several months. You could find one of them..." though it was obvious by the way the woman trailed off that she was aware of the beta testers disappearance. She had likely seen them go through here at top speed the moment the force field barrier was gone around the plaza.
"Or stay inside. That would be wise. You have plenty of gold for a stay in the inn?" She seemed hopeful with that suggestion, giving a small smile of encouragement.

Miriam struggled with the thought of having to wait til the morning to begin training. But no matter how stubborn she was, nor how impatient, she realized that the NPC clearly knew what she was talking about--the beta testers were the only ones here before today, of course they'd be able to beat the direwolf. They had been training for quite some time beforehand. And if she died fighting it, she was gone--no chance of seeing her family again.
"You're right," she conceded. She paused before adding a begrudged and muttered thanks. "Could you point me to the cheapest inn, and also could I have a healing potion?"

Miriam:
The NPC's smile was wider than you could imagine. "These potions are 100 gold each but for your wise decision, I will give it to you for 50g." She shuffled over to the shelf quickly and grabbed the vial, moving back to the counter and placing it there. "If you swipe your hand down, your data screen will appear. You can access your gold count there and withdraw it to pay me with."
Miram also has gained +1 in Wisdom. Perhaps you might not have realized your decision was a quest of it's own!
