Miriam nodded, doing so and fumbling with the interface. She had never been able to afford one of the new phones that functioned nearly the same way--she had spent the remainder of the money she had saved for college on the NerveGear and her copy of SAO--so it was a struggle getting used to working the menu. Finally opening the gold count, she withdrew the gold to pay the shop owner.
"Now, where again can I find that inn? I don't plan on sleeping in the gutters tonight, that's for certain."

Miriam: The NPC pointed across the street quickly, motioning to the sign with the 'Travelers are Welcome' post by it. "The man who runs that in will give you a fair deal seeing as how you are new... but I suspect you had better hurry. There are thousands here who will be looking for an inn as well." She took the sack of gold that Miriam pulled out of her inventory and placed it behind the counter. "Now, I am not saying you can't go out, miss. Just stay within sight of the city boundaries to be safe."

Miriam nodded, already halfway out the door to rush to the inn. She weaved her way through several players rushing to the southern exit presumably. Slipping into the building, she noticed that the woman had been fairly incorrect about it being busy--it was fairly full, but not to the brim, and only so many inns could be in the Town of Beginnings. Scanning the room's players and NPCs, she noted one man nursing a full tankard of ale untouched, yet staring sullenly at the frothy liquid. Making a mental note, she stepped toward the bartender, swaying her hips in just the right way.
"I was looking for a little room for the night so I don't run across any trouble on the road this dark a night. Think you could help this girl out?"

Miriam: The inn had been busy for the last thirty minutes or so. Everyone who had been in the plaza had dispersed and most had come in here to find somewhere to sleep for the night. Almost all of their rooms were full by now and there were plenty of player characters getting very drunk in hopes of forgetting everything that had just happened to them. The man behind the bar had never had such a successful day of business before. When Miriam had come up, the burly man was cleaning a glass with a dish rag. He looked up when she spoke, tossing the rag over his shoulder and setting that glass down on the counter in front of him. "Not in a drinkin mood I assume?" He chortle in a deep voice before nodding. Rooms are twenty gold a night considering all you players are new to this scene. We don't have many rooms left though, you got lucky." The NPC gave a toothy smile.

[[This is an occ announcement to all you guys. Just because one player goes to bed and wakes up does not mean everyone must. I would prefer to keep everyone on the same night and day schedule but honestly, that's not completely roleplay realistic. Your characters need to decide themselves what they do. So if you want to skip ahead to the next day, you may do so whenever you like. Let it be know though, depending on what town you are in, what you are doing, and the current situation, you will be charged for stays at the inns and food. You have to live off these things after all. So whether or not another player rps till night doesn't affect you. It can still be sunset for you and midnight for someone else. It can't be if you are with another player obviously but by yourself, you may rp at different times of the day according to what you have done. Miriam for examples is at a later time than Joe is because she rped more. sorry if this is confusing. One more note. You will get more gold. Inn money is insignificant in the long run. You will earn much more eventually.]]

Miriam quickly tallied up her options--make up a story, lose twenty gold, or lie. If she had spent the full hundred gold on the health potion sitting pretty in her inventory, she no doubt would have chosen the latter option. It's only twenty gold. It won't kill me, I'll still have 130 left. "Deal," she agreed, pulling up her gold count and withdrawing the needed funds.

MiriamThe man held out his hand, accepting the gold she placed into it and pushing it into one of the pockets on jacket. That kind of thing might not be safe but right now, with such fresh players, there was little to no chance of a pick pocket. Plus, to be frank, this NPC was rather intimidating in appearance. He wouldn't be the sort of guy you would want to rob. "Here you go then," the man said, pulling a key ring off the few remaining occupied hooks on the wall behind the bar. "Get some rest... friendly tip too: you better get an early start tomorrow."

Vyn ran to the end of the moat bridge and and surveyed the surrounding area. She almost couldn't contain herself. The view here was far better than peering through an arc way. There were islands towering above the base plains that looked like some sort of fungi and housed miniature wooded areas and lakes of their own. It was marvelous.
Wiping the air to pull up her menu, she checked her inventory to see if anything else had been placed there by the game master. The 'gift' he had bestowed upon them in the plaza was quite a shock in it's self, but it seemed that was the only item that had been added, and they had all already bee used. She had only a straight sword, gold and the armored tunic to her name.
Weighing out her options, Vynessa decided she would proceed, but only temporarily. In other MMORPG's you always had to carry out quests to gain they first few initial levels. Right, that was the game plan. Looking up into the sky, the sun was setting. How she wanted to just go out there and start, but no. She would probably die. Making an about faced sprint, she returned to the safety of the walled town. The street directly in-front of her was filling up with people and she didn't wan't to get caught in the mass crowd. Looking left and right, she took the western route and ran along the walls length for a couple of minutes before eventually reaching another smaller plaza with a towered in the middle. This looked like the prefect place to go Quest hunting, and quiet too.
"Hey there, any NPC's needing assistance? If I help you, 'm sure it will help me, you know, not die. It'd mean alot." She called out, grasping a tree and pivoting around it.

After hearing the announcement Iccarus was devastated. All he could think about was his aunt. She needed him. She was all he had. He saw people crying. His heart grew soft and he wanted to weep but kept strong and thought things through.
'I can't die here. This is no way way to live. I thought this was an escape but know it's a prison' 'Should I sit put in the town of beginnings and wait for someone to complete the 100 floors?' Iccarus mulled the thought over for a while. 'I can't. I shouldn't. That would be selfish. I need to help on the front lines. I could at least die trying to save others.
Iccarus fished through the menu and found a map. He then closed the map and opened his inventory. He found a basic sword.
'This'll come in handy.'
Iccarus then ran off to the souther entrance.

VynessaThe path she took showed a large open square, nearly as big as the central plaza and slightly more active. The bell tower that stood in the middle off the plaza world toll out times throughout the day to let the players who were to lazy tip check their menus know when to head indoors. There currently was an old man sitting outside the doors to the clock tower looking slightly concerned though it might be nothing other than the fact that his shaking hands couldn't seem to hold the pocket watch he was trying to open. There was what appeared to be a tailoring shop on this plaza! A women stood outside of it with several of what seemed like posters looking offput at the younger child that stood next to her. None of the NPCs reacted to Vyn's call, it clearly wasn't going to be that easy. Maybe there it's a passive skill on that would alert you to available quests but with 0 :-P, you add still had to search them out yourself.
[[Hint Hint, there is a passive skill later but for now, shouting if people need help won't make the npcs do much. The skill comes at level 4 and it will let you pull up a map that shows where quests are exactly.]]

I sigh left my lips, the guard wasn’t much of a
help. So it seems that the only way for me to find out what’s out there is by
crossing the bridge. It was getting very dark very quick and, while normal shadow
would be of use to me, total darkness was a handicap. Still going back was not
good idea. And so I travel down the bridge and into open space outside the
Town.

Miriam was grateful that her bed was facing the window; when the sun hit her face she stretched awake and fumbled with her menu to change back into her regular clothes. After it was done, she rushed downstairs to see numerous players and NPCs wolfing down food. Walking up to the bartender, she handed back the keys she had been given. "Can I just get some bread and cheese?"

Iccarus
What Iccarus sees when he runs out towards the south is very similiar to what everyone else who ran that way saw. The crossroads showed three shop, one of which was an inn with the sign "rest stop available". Another was what looked like a potential trading post for common every day goods and food. The last was a bank.
The guards hadn't moved at all and one was still looking quite nervous, perhaps even occassionally looking up at the sky to check the setting sun before returning to his stand still position.

Angus:
[[Yes I am using what I said before. xD Nothing's different about Angus walking out vs. Vyn... so you will see me reuse posts from time to time. Especially with landscape]]
When someone steps out of the gates, the first thing you see is a wide bridge, spanning out into very grassy fields. The sun above you is still fading in the sky above you but there is enough light to see the rolling hills. To your left when you look out over the bridge there are drop offs in the earth and islands floating in the sky as if by nothing. The stream that wraps around the town of beginnings flows off the edge of one of these cliffs, possibly falling endlessly forever if you were to look down after it.
There is a distinct dirt pathway that travels out in front of you and a few signs distinctly lay right at the beginning of the dirt path that couldn't be seen at this distance across the bridge.
There was a distinct wind blowing over the hills and the temperature had dropped slightly due to the coming of night. However, the setting of this place was still a easy spring outlook and the clothing on the new players backs would be suitable to keep them warm... at least on this level.
No monsters could be seen from here... though there is a likelyhood that the farther you travel in, the more they will appear.

Miriam:
The bar keeper was in the same position he was before behind the counter, this time cleaning off a plate rather than a glass. The NPC glanced up as Miriam approached and took out the keys. "Sure, sure. 10g for a plate," He replied, moving behind the counter to cut a large wedge out out of a block that could be just barely seen if you looked closely. It was good quality from the way it looked. The inn was well run, it wouldn't serve bad food.
Two well cooked white rolls were about to be placed on a plate before the man froze in thought. One second he was prepared to put the food on the plate and next he was pulling out a clean burlay piece of cloth and packaging the food away in it before handing it across to Miriam with a small smile "Figured you would want to eat on 'ta road."

Miriam nodded, already having taken out the gold pouch. "Can you tell me where the best training grounds would be?" she asked, pocketing the burlap sack into her inventory for future use. Gnawing at the inside of her cheek, she shifted her weight onto one leg as she tapped her foot to do something to stay in motion.
