Allen spent quite some time putting away all his clothes, as well as a little time putting up a huge poster above his bed. It was five feet wide, and three feet tall, and held on its glossy surface the image of a 3-D style dragon flying right out of it, breathing flames onto the front. Oh, how he loved that poster.
When Nena opened the door, he had been just unlocking the clasps to the case. Grinning, he nodded, flicking back the cover to reveal a black vinyl finished guitar, with white outlines and thunder markings. ''Yeah, it is.'' He said, speaking proudly. His guitar was one of his most prized possesions, even more so than his poster. He wouldn't trade it for the world.

"I didn't know you played anything," Nena said, looking at the guitar. She shook her head. "But then, I don't see why I would. My parents didn't tell me anything about you. Honestly, why they would adopt someone older than me, I haven't the slightest idea..." she muttered the last part, more to herself than Allen. She spoke up again as she said, "I've never met anyone who plays guitar. I used to take piano lessons, but I was horrible and my tutor decided I was a lost cause. Are you any good?"

((Lol, I'm sorry if i'm a boring RP partner. If you get bored, let me know and we can like...have someone explode to make things more exciting. xD))

[[Lols, you is nu boring. xD You is epic. o-o]]

Allen laughed heartily. ''No one, and I mean no one, is ever a lost cause. If you enjoy something, you'll get good at it eventually through perseverence and persistence. Sadly, I still haven't reached that stage yet.'' He grinned some more, before swinging the worn leather strap of the guitar over his shoulder, and fingering the strings a moment.
''Dunno. Maybe they want a kid that can be left on their own for quite a while, in other words, your age and up.'' He replied, most of the laughter drained from his voice now.

"I didn't mean --its not that I'm upset that they adopted you, in particular," she said softly. Well, maybe that wasn't exactly true. She didn't like the way Allen looked, but so far he hadn't tried to kill her and he wasn't obnoxious. "You aren't...well, you aren't all that bad. I was just looking forward to having a little brother. They shouldn't have needed someone who could be left alone; I'm here, aren't I? But that's selfish, I suppose. They've given me everything. I'm happy that you get to have some everything of your own, now." She smiled lightly, cleared her throat, and changed the subject. "The social worker came by, then?"

((Nono, you ish epic))

''Yeah. While you were in the shower. And don't lie and try and pretend you don't mind the way I look. I can see right through you.'' Shaking his head, he began playing a few chords as a warm up, speaking to her at the same time. ''Did I ever say I wanted everything? I don't. I have everything I need.'' He had glanced up at her for a moment while speaking, and now looked back to his guitar, his face almost completely blank, the barest hint of being ticked readable in his eyes.

Nena bit her lip, and reached a hand up to tug lightly at a lock of hair near her ear  --a nervous habit she'd outgrown a long time ago, back when her Grandmother had slapped her for being rude. "I just meant..." she trailed off, staring at the floor, and she felt incredibly stupid when tears began to well up in her eyes. This was the second time in less than 24 hours that she'd begun to cry, and for stupid reasons, too. "We need to leave," she said when she finally found her voice. "Come on. Put down your stupid guitar." She left the room, then, forgetting completely about her phone and not at all expecting Allen to follow. She would go to the mall whether he came or not. Today was definitely a pretzel-eating, look-at-the-cute-puppies-in-the-puppy-store kind of day.

Allen just shook his head. ''You're on your own, there. Go hang out with your shallow 'friends'.'' He said calmly after her, although he was seething, and gritting his teeth. This guitar had taken him three years to save up for. Three years of bloody paper routes at five thirty every single morning, three years of walking dogs grown men would struggle with, three years of going to bed exhausted every night... when was the last time his new 'sister', Nena, had ever had to work for something? Like, really work? And yet... she had the gall to insult his guitar, the one thing he was proud of. She really was an obnoxious, annoying, snobby little rich kid.
He ignored the open door, just closed his eyes and began to play, trying to calm himself. He began playing one of his favourite songs, 'Chasing Cars'. Just the feel of the familiar movements was enough to calm him down, and he began singing the lyrics, truly feeling the words.

((Lol, I know the song. xD Its one of my favorites, actually.))

Nena slammed the front door, swinging her purse over her shoulder. Her phone had been on the stupid kitchen table, and she hadn't needed to go into Allen's room, after all. she was a good twenty feet away from the house when her phone began buzzing, and she scolwed as she answered it. "Hello?"

"Hi, Sweetie! How are things going with Allen? Have you two left for the mall yet?"

Nena winced as her mother's high pitched voice rang through the speaker. "No. I'm not going anywhere with that jerk, Mother." She could practically see her mother's face fall, her shoulders drooping and head hung like a kicked puppy, and Nena immediately wished she hadn't said anything.

"Y-you...are you not getting along?"

Nena sighed. "We had a bit of a fight. Falling into the whole brother-sister thing already, I guess. "
"You shouldn't fight with him, Darling. You're family now. Why don't you go apologize?"

"Okay, Mother. I will. Love you, bye." She hung up quickly, and with a groan, turned around and stomped back to the house. She slammed the door again on her way back inside, and didn't knock when she swung Allen's door back open. He was singing, she noted absently, and he actually sounded very...nice. "I'm sorry, alright?" she said, talking over his singing. "I didn't mean to upset you."

((Dialogue makes the posting so loooong xD))

Allen had his eyes closed when she walked in, the lyrics ad chords coming effortlessly to his memory as he played. His fingers continued playing, the notes continued to stream out, and his eyes remained closed, but he stopped singing.

''What you mean, and what you do, are two incredibly different things, Nena. Apology accepted, anyway.'' He played on for about a moment, before feeling he'd made her awkward enough and stopped, tilting his head to one side as he looked at her.

''I take it one of your parents called you?'' He asked, his brows arched slightly in a kowing way. He had released the guitar, letting his arms rest lazily on it, the only thing holding it in place being the strap.

Nena scowled. "Damn it!" she said, ignoring the disapproving reprimands that flashed through her memory at the words. "Stop doing that. How do you just..." she flailed her arms at him, fully knowing how stupid she looked, but unable to stop herself. "How do you just know things? Its so --creepy! What, are you a stalker or something? A psychic? I don't get it!" She was breathing heavily by the time she stopped --she'd been yelling, apparently-- and slowly a blush heated her face. That was definitely not ladylike. If Grandmother had ever caught her yelling and flailing about like some fish...She decided, for once, to ignore the way her Grandmother or her friends would react, and scowled again, crossing her arms like a child who hadn't gotten enough candy. "Yes, my mother called," she added, and she thought that if she were to stick out her tongue at Allen right now, she could revert back to the age of five permanently. So she stuck out her tongue, making an obnoxious, childish noise as she did so, and then she had to fight the urge to giggle because she was supposed to be angry.

Allen shrugged his shoulders, giving a small chuckle at her completely childish behaviour. ''I'm just good at reading people, I guess.'' He said, shaking his head in laughter before looking back at her. ''And, I must say, that is some very lady-like behaviour.'' He was still smiling, as he began thinking of how much he loved what she was doing now. Looked like getting her ticked was the only way to make her forget about all the rules and restrictions she had been taught, and make her live her life for herself. If that was the case, he'd have to do it more often. Sticking his tongue out back, revealing a jet black stud in the center of it, he began thinking up more ways to tick her off.

"Yeah, well," Nena muttered, "no point in acting ladylike around you, anyway. Because apparently you know everything. What's the use of keeping up appearances if you're always going to know what's wrong with me, anyway?" She grimaced at the sight of his tongue piercing. "You have one of those? Seriously?"

Allen's face took on a slightly bemused tone while he tried to figure out what 'one of those' meant. Eventually, he copped on and stuck his tongue out again. ''Yes, I do. It's more fun to stick my tongue out at people this way.'' He said with a laugh, before looking back to his guitar. ''Hey, what kind of music d'you like?'' He asked, ignoring her comment abut knowing what was wrong. Seeing right through people didn't mean he knew what was wrong, he just knew something was wrong. Which, when they denied it and were someone he liked, was hell.

"How could you stand getting something like that shoved through your tongue? I nearly fainted when I got my ears pierced!" His question caught her a bit off guard. "Music?" she repeated, her noise wrinkled in thought. "I'm not sure. I don't really listen to music. I guess I like..." she trailed off, trying to think of something. "Um. Lifeboat? Lighthouse? Something like that. I don't know. But I remember hearing one of their songs. It was pretty."

((Lol, Lifehouse. Good band. You should look them up, if you don't already know them. xD))

Allen laughed again. ''You mean Lifehouse. Not whatever that other stuff was you said. And, for the record, I have a high pain threshold.'' He said, eyes glittering with laughter. He began playing Blind, closing his eyes as he went. He started singing as well, a hint more softly than he normally would, but not much. He was used to people staring at him, whatever he did. Blind was, of course, one of his favourite songs by them. That, and Broken.

[[Lols. Never heard of them till now. Like their music, though. :U]]

"That's the one!" Nena said, nodding. "Lifehouse. Well, I was close..." she trailed off as Allen started singing. "You've got a pretty voice," she murmured, closing her eyes and listening. Her phone went off, then, and she jumped slightly, her eyes flying open. She opened it right as the screen said You Have 1 Missed Call. "It was my mom," she said, clearing her throat. "We should really get going. The mall can get really crowded, and I hate trying to shove through everyone."

((Yay! I love Lifehouse. xD))

Allen laughed at her comment, about his voice being 'pretty'. ''Uh, thanks, I guess.'' He said, putting his guitar gingerly back in its case. He zipped it up, before standing up and propping it against the wall.
''Yeah, I guess we should... what were we going down for again?'' He asked, trying to remember but failing. He had a pretty bad memory for every day things, even though he was good with a lot of other things.

Nena shrugged. "To show you around, I guess? My parents wanted you to look around and see if there's anything you want or need to make yourself more comfortable. But you don't have to get anything, not if you don't want to. They've got a pretty nice guitar store, I think, so you could always go look in there. I, personally, want a pretzel."

Allen laughed, shaking his head as he walked out the door, leaning against the wall outside it for a moment. ''Heh, pretzels are good. And as for guitars, I'm quite happy with my beauty of a guitar. I don't think I'll be getting a new one any time soon.'' He said, laughing once more. He didn't really plan on getting anything, to be honest.

"Well, like I said, you don't have to get anything. Its kind of a long walk to the mall, so you have plenty of time to think about it." She opened the front door, and, deciding she didn't want to live in a house with someone she knew nothing about, she said, "So. You're, um, an orphan?" She winced as soon as the words left her mouth. That wasn't an awkward, invasive, rude question at all. "I'm so sorry --I didn't mean --forget I asked that," she said, blushing furiously. She walked a bit faster, staring at the ground.
