Markus sat in a corner with a good vantage point as he leaned back in the chair so the back of it touched the wall. His mood was still sour and the rest of the mortals in the cafeteria seemed to pick up on this and wisely left him alone.

As I looked around for something to 'distract' me from going to Markus, my eyes just had to glance over and notice him. I frowned. How was I to do this, gently? I sighed, choosing to 'suck it up' and just walk over. As I came to the table, I smiled at him softy. At least to show that I understood his mood wasn't very... Pleasant. I chose to speak just as softly as I said, "Hey... You alright, today?"

Markus focused on Paradise. He didn't see her come up for he had been staring off into nothingness. But at her soft smile and words, his tense demeanor and attitude seemed to relax slightly. He shook his head and mumbled; "No."

Immediately, I leaned over and grabbed his hand again. I couldn't help it if I had compassion for Markus, I cared about him too much. Even if I would never admit it out loud. "What happened?"
I asked, thinking the worst possible things. Like... His bird dying.

Markus tightened his fingers around Paradise's hand as gently as he could. He let all four legs of the chair rest on the floor before he pulled her hand closer to him. Lifting it off the table slightly, he let his lips brush against her knuckles as her scent wreathed around him; comforting him. "Don't want to tell," he said.

Not wanting to tell me probably meant is was worse then a bird dying. "Oh, c'mon, you can tell me, Markus..." I whispered, though I don't know why. Probably because I was melting at the way he held my hand. I hadn't meant to make this conversation emotional or deep, but no one is rational when emotional so I couldn't help but hope I'd find something to tell Adam later so I could just be friends with Markus for just... The fun of it.

Markus turned her hand slightly in his grasp so he could run his pale lips over her fingers, the palm of her hand, before ending at her wrist. He placed a small kiss there with his lips lingering against her skin. His eyes closed as he slowly inhaled her sweet scent. The vampire didn't answer her, nor did he catch what she said.

Oh gosh, Markus was doing it again. I don't know what it was, all I knew was that it made me melt. "Markus...?" I said, trying to ignore how my heart raced just at how his lips pressed against my skin.

I smiled, though having that embarrassed feeling that I had when he told me what he had spoken in Greek. Though, I wouldn't call it embarrassment entirely. Smitten was mixed in that. I started pulling my wrist away as I said, "What are you doing?" Way to ruin a moment.

As I brought my wrist back at my side, my skin still tingled from his touch. "M-my what?" My question was tuned out from even my own ears as Adam came and sat beside me. "Hey guys." Adam said nonchalantly, like we both weren't trying to find what Markus was hiding. "Uh... Hi." I said, confused, as Adam smiled at both Markus and I. "So, Markus, about the other day when I didn't come by to help clean. You see, I was kinda busy with something. Sorry about that. I think you understand."
I thought that maybe the two could work things out, and I wouldn't have to be on this 'mission' anymore, but then I remembered Markus and his bad mood. This wouldn't end with peace, I was sure of it.

The tension was palpable as Adam stared back at Markus. "My plans - and why I did them at that time - are none of your business." Adam said in response while glaring.
I cleared my throat and mumbled, "Guys, lets remember how old we are..." I tapped Adam's shoe with my own, like we were having our own little telepathic conversation and that was my warning that he could blow our plans. And after I tapped him, the glare was replaced with a smile from Adam. Like he understood. "Man, let's just forget about it. Start over?"

Plans. Oh, he knew those plans now. For Markus was there, at the park when Adam spoke of them to Markus. But how fast Adam's glare shifted to a smile made Markus suspicious. His mouth twisted into a nasty smile. "Hades, no," he sneered.

Adam kept his cool, didn't choose to lash out back at Markus. His revenge would be done more quietly. "Well that isn't a surprise. But, what's so wrong with making amends?"
I truly wished I wasn't here right now. I wished that Adam and Markus never had issues, and that I never agreed to do the stupid plan with Adam. I frowned and watched the interaction anxiously, hoping this didn't end up in a fight again.

I hit Adam on the shoulder the second Markus walked away. "What's wrong with you?" I asked through my teeth. The slower this plan went to succeeding, the longer it meant I had to stay in the plan. And keep talking to Adam. And keep feeling like a fake in front of Markus. "What's wrong with me?" He asked, before glancing at Markus before back at me. "I'm not the one letting him kiss me." My face burnt up at the comment before Adam kept going. "This won't work if you start getting... Attached." Part of me didn't care if it worked. I just wanted it done. "I'm not attached." I said with a frown, fighting the urge to look at my wrist and replay what had happened just five minutes before. "Let's keep it that way." Adam said just before the lunch bell rang. I rolled my eyes and was eager to leave the table. "See ya." I muttered before walking away. "Hey. Have you decided if you're... Going to his house with me?" I turned around and gave Adam the ex
pression that said 'You're crazy' written all over it. "He won't catch us, I promise." With a defeated sigh, I said, "Fine. And after this, I'm really done." And with that, I jogged off to class.
