"L-leave me alone..." I watched Adam walk the other way to his friends, completely in shock. I was the one that got his lunch food, once. I was the one that snuck into Markus's apartment with him. I was the one who tried getting information out of Markus for Adam. And, he was the one telling me to walk away? With an angry sigh, I left the hallway and walked down to the cafeteria. All I asked him was why he had stitches on his neck - and, of course, if it had to do with last night with Markus. I rolled my eyes, completely confused, as I found a seat in the cafeteria.

Markus entered the cafeteria, not feeling particularly hungry since his recent feeding. He paused slightly when he saw Paradise and smelled the confusion that wreathed around her. Cocking his head to one side, he walked over to her.
"May I?" he asked as he drew closer as he indicated towards one of the empty chairs.

For some reason, with Markus so 'too himself' already, the silence between us was more comforting then awkward. It was ironic really, that I could feel comforted by him, when I knew that he had drunken blood right in front of me. Finally, I couldn't take the agony any more as I leaned my forearms on the table and looked him dead in the eyes. "Just tell me. What happened last night with Adam."

Markus sighed, his eyes fluttering close before they opened. Should he tell her the truth? Or should he just lie? But the lieing part made him uncomfortable. So he just decided not to tell her the whole truth. "He attacked me. I defended myself."

"That's not surprising..." I mumbled to myself before looking back up at him. "But, you defended him a bit too much, don't you think? He's got stitches all over the side of his neck." After saying that, my scolding stopped as I frowned at him. The only way that could have happened was if he used a knife or blade or something. "What did you use to... Cut his neck?" I asked, with a skeptical tone.

Markus was confused by her first question. The wording was... off. At least to him. Some of the English sentence structure still confused him. "Uh..." What should he say? That he used his fangs and drank the male's blood? Uh, Hades no! "A big rock." In his head, he was mentally kicking himself. Such a lame answer! He felt like hitting his forehead against the table, but refrained.

Markus could tell that she didn't believe him and he winced slightly. Silence descended upon them once more. But it felt more awkward this time than the comfortable one they had shared before.

"... Don't you feel guilty? For hurting him?" I looked back at Adam as he talked with his friends at another table before looking up at Markus. "Or is what you really are keeping you from that?" I added in a whisper, putting a hand to my lips the second it escaped my mouth with shock. Had I just said that?

"Well... I mean, you could have defended yourself without having to grab a rock and slice his neck." I shrugged, wishing I could somehow avoid that next question. "I... I didn't mean it that way. I just... Sorry."
I said, looking back at my hands. That was mostly a complete lie. Of course I meant it. He wasn't normal. And it was definitely the reason why he was acting so casual after slicing someone's neck open.
